It’s well known YSR Congress Party and Jana Sena party are dead against the Congress and the TDP in AP. They have not contested in Telangana polls. Both Jaganmohan Reddy and Pawan Kalyan were charged with extending secret support to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi. The worst fears of Congress and TDP came true as the TRS won big in the poll all over the state.
YCP leader Jagan is an arch enemy of Congress as he has come out of the Congress and formed his own party inviting the anger of Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. With so many CBI cases against him, Jagan required the support of the BJP which means he needs to oppose Congress out and out. With regard to Chandrababu Naidu, the TDP and the YCP are natural enemies contesting for power in AP. So Jagan had an immediate alternative to support non Congress and non-TDP party which is TRS.
On his part, Pawan Kalyan has been hating the Congress party ever since the unscientific division of AP. This is why he extended his support to Naidu and BJP in 2014 elections. This time, Pawan has taken an anti stand against the TDP as well. He has become an opponent to the Prajakutami and his fans obviously voted against the allies there.
The same dynamics will not work in AP as right now Pawan doesn’t want to have a pre-poll alliance with any party. He wants to see his strength in 2019 polls and become a major contender for power in 2024 polls.
