Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh has managed to reduce debt component in the total GSDP (gross state domestic product) by 10 per cent, remarked the chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu. The growth rate in agriculture and allied sectors was 17.18 per cent as against the target of 22.14 per cent for the first half of 2018-19 financial year.

While reviewing the schemes ‘Niru-Pragati’ and Agriculture in teleconference from the Secretariat on Monday, chief minister Naidu said that the performance of AP economy is closer to the targets.

“The economy growth rate of Andhra Pradesh is four times higher than the national average. We have successfully reduced the debt component in the GSDP by 10 per cent, while doubling farmers’ income in the past four years. This comfortably puts the growth rate of AP four times higher than the national average,” said Naidu.

Horticulture sector grows 15.93 per cent as against the target of 20.24 per cent. Similarly, Animal Husbandry sector grew 15.34 per cent as against the target of 19.37 per cent, while aquaculture grew 22.36 per cent as against 26.60 per cent target.

“We have to focus more on Prakasam district for aquaculture development. We see demand for Gokulam and mini Gokulams. The TDP government is committed on boosting revenue for all sections of the society. Once the Godavari-Penna linkage is completed, then we will not have water shortage. River linkage and water-development programmes are enabling the state to achieve higher growth rate.
