Telugu Desam Party AP president Palla Srinivasa Rao’s father Palla Simhachalam died in Vishakapatnam on Saturday. The 93-year-old breathed his last at a private hospital in Vishakapatnam, while undergoing treatment for age-related ailments.
Palla Simhachalam is also a politician and served as Vishakapatnam-2 MLA between 1994 and 99. A staunch TDP loyalist, Palla Simhachalam stayed with the party through thick and thin. Though Simchalam started his political career with Congress, later shifted to Telugu Desam Party and won the trust of Chandrababu Naidu.
Palla Simhachalam was soft-spoken and considered an accommodating leader. As a result, he earned the support and affection of TDP cadres and people in Vishakapatnam region.
Following in Palla Simhachalam’s footsteps, his son Palla Srinivasa Rao joined TDP and rose through the ranks to become party’s Andhra Pradesh state unit chief. He is also serving as Gajuwaka MLA now.
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu expressed condolences on the death of former MLA Palla Simhachalam. Appreciating Palla’s contributions to Vishakapatnam’s development, Chandrababu Naidu prayed for the departed soul.
AP Deputy Chief Minister and Janasena founder Pawan Kalyan, IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, Municipal Minister Ponguru Narayana, Home Minister Vangalapudi Anita and others expressed condolences on Palla Simhachalam’s death.
