Putting an end to the uncertainty created among BJP cadre and also in the public eye with some party leaders soft-peddling on the TRS government in the state, party’s Telangana president and MLA Dr K Lakshman made it clear that the party would go it alone in the state in all 119 constituencies in 2019. He also indicated the need for adopting aggressive posture against the state government.

Speaking at the party’s state executive meeting in Bhadrachalam, he ruled out any possibilities of having alliance with the ruling TRS. By strongly opposing Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao’s move to reserve 12 per cent for Muslims in education and jobs, he made it clear there would be no scope to go with such a party.

Asking the party cadre to prepare for the 2019 polls so that to emerge as an alternate in the state, he announced launching of an agitation against the “appeasement policy” of the TRS government and failures of the government in fulfilling its poll promises.

After supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetisation policy, as the Chief Minister started cultivating rapport with the central government, many BJP leaders in the state started remaining as passive towards the state government expecting TRS would join BJP-led NDA very soon.

However, for the first time, Lakshman clarified that they would welcome KCR’s support to Prime Minister’s initiatives, but that didn’t makes a difference with regard to BJP’s opposition role in the state.

He also asserted that party has already started preparations for 2019 poll by strengthening the organisation at polling booth level. Already organisational work pertaining to 13,000 of the 32,000 polling booths across Telangana has been completed. Efforts were on to further strengthen the organisational bodies like Yuva Morcha and Mahla Morcha, among others, he added.

Accusing that the TRS rule during the last two and a half years had failed to fulfill the aspirations of the people, he said that the BJP would step up its agitation to force the government for resolving the problems being faced by people.
