The political circles are agog with rumours that 4 TDP Rajya Sabha MPs are likely to join the BJP sooner than later. This is the immediate requirement of the BJP which has no sufficient numbers in the Upper House to get important bills passed. As of now, the BJP has only 71 while the NDA has 102 strength which is not enough in the 245-strong Rajya Sabha.
Chandrababu Naidu’s close confidants Sujana Chowdary and CM Ramesh are expected to switch over to the BJP considering the present political conditions in AP. Both these leaders were under threat of CBI and IT raids from the BJP government at the Centre. Moreover, there’s increasing uncertainty and insecurity among most TDP leaders over the aggressive attitude of YCP. Vijayawada MP Kesineni Nani issue has also highlighted the concerns in TDP. Several ex MPs and ex-Ministers are also looking towards the BJP.
