Taking lead, the Congress today announced the name of its mayoral candidate for GHMC. Telangana PCC president N Uttamkumar Reddy said Vikram Goud was the party’s nominee for the post of Mayor. Vikram is son of former minister M Mukesh Goud. The PCC president said the decision was arrived at after consulting all the senior leaders of the party. Meanwhile, AICC leaders Digvijay Singh and Gulam Nabi Azad will be canvassing for the party on January 29 and January 30 in Hyderabad.
The selection of Vikram Goud, an young leader , would enthuse the youth in the party, Uttam said.
GHMC mayor post has been reserved for BC general. On the other side, TRS is said to be mulling over to promote Vijayalakshmi , who is contesting from Banjara Hills as the party’s mayoral candidate. Vijayalakshmi is the daughter of TRS secretary general and Rajya Sabha member K Kesavarao. But, the party will announce her name only after the results are announced, said TRS sources.
