YCP is looking for a prominent Kamma politician or industrialist to field in Vijayawada Lok Sabha constituency in next poll. The name of Vijai Electricals Chairman Dasari Jai Ramesh has come up as a hopeful this time because of his financial capabilities. Party circles says Daggubati Venkateswara Rao is mediating on behalf of Jai Ramesh for this ticket. Vijayawada seat is a prestigious segment for both TDP and YCP as it is politically the nerve centre of the state.
Though not a full-time politician, Dasari Jai Ramesh has got widespread connections in Krishna district. In 1998, he contested on TDP ticket but was defeated by Congress nominee Parvataneni Upendra at that time. There are complaints that Jai Ramesh figures in political circles only at the time of elections.
The YCP is facing a real challenge in Vijayawada seat as the TDP has got a strong candidate Kesineni Nani who is the sitting MP now. In 2014 election, Nani defeated YCP candidate Koneru Rajendra Prasad and Congress nominee Devineni Avinash. Now, Avinash has joined the TDP. The Devineni family used to be very friendly with YSR but they have no interest in YCP. With this, YCP is left with no choice but look for a high-profile industrialist with good financial background.
