Spurred by YSRCP’s sustained campaign and TDP government’s fresh resolve to put pressure on NDA government, AP Pratyeka Hoda Sadhana Samiti has decided to launch a mega movement for special status for Andhra Pradesh with a fast unto death.

With centre’s repeated assertions that Special Status is not possible for Andhra Pradesh the movement has lost its steam in the recent past. Now, with nothing coming forth in lieu of special status slowly various organizations are becoming restive in the state. The AP Pratyeka Hoda Sadhana Samiti is launching fast unto death demanding early decision on bestowing the special status on Andhra Pradesh.
According to Chalasani Srinivas, the convenor of the body, the fast unto death would be launched at Anantapur on May 8. Karem Sivaji, Hero Sivaji will also participate in the fast along with many others.

Stating that Sadhana Samiti wants to invite all political parties to extend their support to the fast, Srinivas said Samiti would build the people’s movement above the political divisions.

He said if necessary the organization would give call to the people and business organizations to stop paying taxes to central organizations protesting union government’s attitude towards the special status. “very soon we will come out with a decision on the no-tax movement,” Chalasani Srinivas said adding that the decision would be taken in consultation with all political parties in the state. He said there was no alternative to Special Status . He resented the delay in implementing the provisions incorporated in AP reorganization Act, 2014 to help the Andhra Pradesh, to help it come out of the problems thrown up the bifurcation.

He reminded that it was the BJP that moved the demand for special status at the time of debate on AP reorganization Act, 2014 in Rajya Sabha in 2013. He wondered as to how the senior leaders of the BJP raised the matter without knowing the implementability of the demand.
