Girish karnad

Noted theatre artist and film personality Girish Karnad passed away today in his Bengaluru residence. The 81-year-old actor wrote a number of plays in Kannada and soon he tested his luck as an actor. Girish Karnad received Padma Shri in 1974 and 1992 by the Government of India. He also received Padma Bhushan and Jnanapith Award for his contribution to arts and theatre.

Girish Karnad is survived by his wife Saraswathi and son Raghu Karnad, daughter Radha. Raghu is a writer and Radha is a doctor. Indian cinema is left in shock with the sudden demise of Girish Karnad and his works will be remembered. Rest in peace Girish Karnad.
