Gunasekhar is one director who aims big and thinks different. But somewhere in the execution phase, he messes up things a bit. After creating a lot of hype and buzz for ‘Rudhramadevi’, the movie turned out to be an average grosser. Allu Arjun and Anushka’s star value as well as public interest about Queen Rudhramadevi’s life saved the film to some extent.
But Gunasekhar made one big folly that is still haunting him. The director refused to sell the satellite rights of the film, when good offers came from the leading channels in the run up to the release. Gunasekhar expected extraordinary results for the film at the Box Office and hoped to secure higher prices.
But after the mediocre result, all channels withdrew their offers. They are now quoting only a fraction of what Gunasekhar wants and as a result, the rights remain unsold. A source who is familiar with the matter says that even if the rights end up getting acquired eventually, they will go for a very low price.
