Serious allegations against Jana Sena MLA and Government Whip Arava Sridhar have triggered a major political stir in Andhra Pradesh. A woman has accused the Railway Kodur legislator of sexual exploitation and emotional abuse, claiming the incidents continued for nearly one and a half years.
In a video released on social media, the woman broke down while describing her ordeal. She alleged that Sridhar first contacted her through Facebook and later promised marriage. Trusting him, she said, she entered into a relationship that turned exploitative. The woman further claimed she became pregnant five times and was forced to undergo abortions against her will. The video has since gone viral, sparking widespread outrage and debate.
Responding swiftly, the Jana Sena Party leadership said it would not compromise on discipline or moral standards. The party announced the formation of an internal inquiry committee to examine the allegations in detail. The panel will review video statements, WhatsApp chats, and any other evidence presented by the complainant. Party sources stated that if the allegations are found to be true, strict action will follow, including the possibility of suspension from the party.
The issue has also given fresh ammunition to the YSR Congress Party, which has launched sharp attacks on the ruling coalition. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Women’s Commission Chairperson Rayapati Sailaja has spoken to the complainant over the phone and gathered preliminary details.
On the other hand, Sridhar’s mother Prameela has strongly denied the allegations. She described them as a conspiracy aimed at damaging her son’s political career at a crucial stage.
