Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party President Dr K Laxman had discussion with Telangana Joint Action Committee chairman Prof M Kodandaram on two significant issues which the duo had been fighting separately. The first issue being issue is about shifting of Dharna Chowk from Indira Park and the second issue is government’s decision to go ahead with Open Cast mines.

All Party delegation has already met the governor last month to protect the Dharna Chowk, which is a democratic space in the heart of the city

Opposition parties and civil society groups have said they will confront the government to protect their right to protest in the city, in particular at Dharna Chowk near Indira Park.

It may be recalled that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao prior to 2014 elections promised to stop open-cast mining as it was transforming acres of lands into cemeteries and would result in job loss as machines would be used on a large scale.

However, in the recent past TRS chief said without open-cast mining is inevitable for the existence of Singareni. Furthermore, he said that the government would open twenty more open-cast mines and eleven underground mines in next five years.

Kodandaram met Laxman to discuss about the feasibility of working together on these issues.
