Savitri biopic Mahanati, which opened to phenomenal reports on May 9th, is having a solid run at the box office in its first weekend. The strong word of mouth and rave reviews are helping the film bigtime as the collections are very promising in all territories.

In overseas, Mahanati is all set to hit the one million dollar mark by this Saturday. The biopic took a sensational opening with $ 313K on Tuesday premiers and races past the half million mark by Wednesday with a solid $ 204K haul.

Continuing its steady run at overseas box office, the film collected close to $ 150K on Friday. With Friday’s $ 262K, the film’s total is at $ 932K and it has the million dollar mark on Saturday. At 2PM CST Saturday, the movie grossed $164k. This is a spectacular box office run considering the genre and the fact that it is a lady oriented film.

The stand out performances of the entire cast and the impressive narration have turned out to be the selling points for the film.
