Janasena party, officially released a statement yesterday about joining of Media tycoon Mootha Gopalakrishna and his sons into Janasena. Joining of the family that has huge experience in media industry and has foot print in print and electronic media is expected to help Janasena party. Andhra Prabha daily is owned by them. They are also all set to launch a Telugu news channel (@Republic news) and an English news channel (India Ahead).
Mootha Gopalakrishna, Andhra Prabha:
Mootha Gopalakrishna is a leader from East Godavari district. He won as an MLA in 1983-89, 1994-99, and in 2004. He also served as a minister of Civil supplies. In addition to various other business ventures, he has Vasavi Communications Media that owns Andhra Prabha daily. He also has stakes in Indian Express daily. Janasena’s statement mentioned, Pawan Kalyan himself has invited Mootha Gopalakrishna, who has immense political experience, into the party and Mootha happily accepted it. Also, as per the same statement Mootha Gopalakrishna will be part of party’s political affairs committee.
Mootha Shashidhar, Gautam, IndiaAhead English News Channel, @Republic NewsTelugu Channel:
Mootha Gopalakrishna’s sons Shashidhar and Gautam are also active politically and they are planning new ventures in the media sector. Gautam will soon launch an English news channel “India Ahead”. Pawan Kalyan is going to have a show in this channel as mentioned earlier. The program, which is based on social issues, will be similar to Ameer Khan’s Satyameva Jayathe. In addition to bringing various social issues of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, into light, this program also attempt to find solutions to these issues by involving experts and intellectuals of various fields in the debates. The Telugu news channel “@ republic news” along with the English news channel is also being planned by the same family.

Mootha Gopalakrishna is one of the few political leaders of the Vysya community. As he has been in media field and also in politics for several decades, he has a very good name among the people belonging to his own community. He won as an MLA in 1983-89, 1994-99, and in 2004. However, in 2009, the Congress party refused him a ticket. The then Chief Minister Rajasekhar Reddy replaced him with Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar Reddy, a close friend of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Mootha Gopalakrishna had no choice and contested as an independent candidate. Chandra shekhara Reddy, who was the Congress candidate, won the election.
Janasena in much better position now in terms of media support :
It is known news that some news channels tried to malign Pawan Kalyan image continuously until couple of months back when Pawan started reverse attack on those media channels. But later, these channels started downplaying Janasena news during his north Andhra tour. Then Janasena general secretary Thota Chandrasekhar took over 99TV. 10TV also reportedly taken over by Nimmagadda Prasad at the behest of Janasena leadership. Recently, Pawan Kalyan started “Shatghni” fortnightly magazine. Now, with Andhra Prabha daily also turning in favor of Janasena, definitely, it will help improve Janasena’s prospects. “India Ahead” English news channel, @ republic news Telugu channels are yet to be launched.
Elections are due in just another 8 months. We will have to wait and see how Janasena’s prospects will be improved after the joining of this media tycoon family.
