Amid governments efforts to rope in the NRIs into the reconstruction of Telangana, TANA secretary Madhusudan Tata joined the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) in the presence of chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao during the plenary session held at Khammam on Wednesday.

Madhusudan, an activist from his student days, is now secretary, Telugu Association of North America, and has been into the charitable activities for about a decade. A native of Tirumalayapalem of Pindiprolu village,Khammam district, Madhu’s joining the TRS comes in the wake of large-scale migrations from Congress and other parties in the District. Two days ago Khammam MLA Puvvada Ajay quit Congress to accept the Pink Kanduva. And dozens of Congress corporators also joined the party yesterday. Khammam ,once a TDP stronghold, is now turning pink.

Madhu is likely to get an important assignment with regard to the NRI affairs. According to party sources, during the visit of NRI affairs minister KT Ramarao to Dallas, Texas, to attend Global Telangana Convention, a meeting of prominent NRI is expected to be held. In the recent reshuffle of portfolios, the department NRI affairs has been entrusted with Ramarao. Sources close to Ramarao revealed that the minister is formulating an NRI affairs policy in order to provide wider participation to NRIs from Telangana in the implementation of various projects in the state. Though the idea is still in the formative stage, Ramarao is going to give greater importance to NRI from Telangana in future, he said. NRIs played key role in spreading the T-message by forming themselves into Telangana Development Forum, the sources added.

In line with this some important T-NRI are likely to be roped in to work for the state in mobilizing investments and to work as representatives of Telangana government. Given his contacts in the party, he is expected to become a member of TNRI core committee, which KTR is planning to interact with in US.

An SFI leader between 1978 and 1984, Madhusudan has been living in Atlanta, US for the past 15 years. He was instrumental in setting up Chaitanya Sravanti and has been active in TANA activities. His contribution to the welfare of the poor students in the district is well-known in the area. He has been helping the poor through a charitable trust established in the name of his parents Tata Kalamma and Venkatakrishnaiah.
