0

Nandamuri Balakrishna is one actor who has taken the legacy of his father Late Sri Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao garu and impressed the audience with his flawless performance. He tried different films in his career and crossed the magical mark of 100 films with Gautamiputra Satakarni which released during Sankranthi this year. The movie has been declared as a blockbuster and Balayya interacted with us specially. Here are the excerpts of his interview:

You inched your 100th film and are you satisfied with the film’s result?

I am completely satisgied in all the available ways with Gautamiputra Satakarni. Everybody owned the film and there are talks that it is a must watch film. Not only Telugu audience, Gautamiputra Satakarni is a watch for every Indian. I heard that many people who left watching films have been watching Gautamiputra Satakarni in theatres.

Did you expect that Gautamiputra Satakarni will get such a huge applause?

Yes, I was quite confident right from the moment I heard the plot. Though the film has nothing much as a story, it was Krish and his narration which brought immense confidence in me. He succeeded completely in shaping up Gautamiputra Satakarni into a masterpiece.

Are you not afraid that a massive periodic drama involving war episodes may be delayed or will run out of budget?

I loved the vision of Krish right from the first day. The day he narrated me the script, he told me the budget, number of working days along with the release date. He planned things perfectly and the result is here.

Did you watch any of Krish’s films?

I watched Kanche and I loved it. However I was not sure of working with him at that time.

There has been huge competition during Sankranthi this year?

It is good to have competition and it is when we have competition, things turn exciting.

How close are you with other actors?

I love to be friendly with each and every actor. I am quite occupied with enough work and I meet other actors rarely. I stay in touch with Chiranjeevi and his film Khaidi No 150 too released during this festival season.

If you sign a multi-starrer, which actor will you prefer working with?

I am quite comfortable and open for multi-starrers. But no hero is in mind for the film. I would love to do a historical film if everything is set.

Do you discuss about films at your house? Do you get feedback about your movies from your family members?

Yes, all my family members share their feedback without any hesitation. Each and everyone loved Gautamiputra Satakarni and they could not find a single mistake from the film.

On what basis do you sign a film. On the concept or on your character?

I look for each and everything in a film. Sometimes I get impressed by a single line after which the script has to be written. Sometimes it is the characterization that makes huge difference. On the whole, it is the output which matters.

Are you interested in films like Dangal?

I am not apt for some of the stories. No one is interested in me doing romantic films and at the same time six-pack is not my cup of tea.

Is Mokshagna too interested in doing action films?

An actor should do all the kinds of roles in his career. Let me see his first film after which we can decide about his career.

Are you training him personally?

I am not training him specially. However we discuss lot about films on how things happened and where some films failed.

Is Muhurtam fixed for Mokshagna’s entry?

I do not plan anything. It happens in its way. Things should happen at the instant. I take sudden decisions and I will start his film whenever I want.

Any plans for directorial debut?

I am interested in direction like other actors. I give lot of suggestions to my actors in dealing the scripts. If I feel that no other director can do justice for a script, I will sure step up into the director’s chair.

Your next project?

I am currently enjoying the success of Gautamiputra Satakarni. My next film details will be out once it is finalized.
