In a move that caught officials off guard, Andhra Pradesh Education Minister Nara Lokesh carried out a surprise inspection at a government school in Mylavaram.
The visit came shortly after the inauguration of a new office at Mayuri Tech Park in Mangalagiri. While the convoy was expected to follow a fixed route, Lokesh suddenly diverted towards Mylavaram. Even security and officials were unaware of the change, creating tension within the convoy as they followed his lead without prior information.
The convoy finally halted at Tarakaram Nagar School around noon. The school had recently drawn attention after videos surfaced showing students complaining about poor-quality food. Though warnings were issued earlier, no one anticipated a direct visit from the minister.
Lokesh entered the school without formalities and interacted directly with the students. He sat among them as they had their meal and asked about the quality of the food. He then tasted the meal himself.
After the inspection, Lokesh issued a firm warning to officials. He stated that every child in the state deserves the same quality of food that is served in his own home. He made it clear that any compromise in standards would lead to strict action.
The sudden visit has triggered a strong response within the education department, reinforcing the government’s focus on monitoring and improving student welfare.
