Janasena Formation Day Meeting and Pawan’s speech during the meeting creating lot of tremors in the state. Though some of the points he raised are debatable, overall he was successful in expressing his stand and clearly drawing battle lines for 2019 elections. Even though this is digital age and people get live stream on their mobiles, still the coverage of a news in print media plays important role in moulding public opinion. Here’s how various news papers covers this news.

Sakshi

Sakshi covered the news in front page but just gave ‘lead news’ in first page and gave full news in inside paper. Obviously, Jagan’s speech during padayatra (as usual) is the banner story of the day. However, it is after so many days, Pawan got space (even though a few centimetres lead news) in front page of Sakshi. Usually, Sakshi either ignores Pawan’s news or covers it like insignificant news. This time, though covered the full news in 10th page, it seems, editors took enough care to make the article suit the agenda of the party. They didn’t highlight the critical comments Pawan made on Jagan but fully highlighted ‘Lokesh corruption’ news. Another topic that Sakshi did not miss to cover is Pawan saying TDP leaders amassing money as TDP leaders are scared about Jagan coming into power.

EENADU

Eenadu covered it as banner story of the day. However, as always, Eenadu gave enough importance to both sides of the coin by publishing Chandra Babu’s explanation on the allegations also on front page. Inside the paper also, it covered the speech in full page. Eenadu covered almost all the aspects of the speech.

Andhra Jyothy

Jyothy also gave full coverage to the speech. It also published banner story on this. Andhra Jyothy also gave one full page coverage. Andhra Jyothy too published Chandra Babu’s response on allegations. Moreover it published news of Shekhar Reddy saying he never met Lokesh.

Overall, Eenadu and Jyothy gave good coverage while Sakshi coverage was comparatively less and selective.
