After a relatively moderate start with the premieres, Nagarjuna and Karthi’s ‘Oopiri’ picked up strongly and is now expected to do well over the weekend. The film’s US distributors did a poor job, as already highlighted by Telugu360, and that is one of the reasons for the low premiere figures.
However, the superb word of mouth and very strong reviews changed the situation. The film is now running to packed houses all over and it should easily see the 1 Million Dollar + figure in its final run.
Directed by Vamshi Paidipally and produced by PVP Cinema, ‘Oopiri’ has been released as ‘Thozha’ in Tamil and it is doing very well even in that market.
The film will be a shot in the arm for PVP Cinema, which has been reeling from a string of high profile failures. The recent hit ‘Kshanam’ and now ‘Oopiri’ have given a much needed boost for the production team.
