Police foil Palla’s fast-unto-death for Vizag Steel Plant

1

The AP Police have foiled TDP former MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao’s indefinite hunger strike in Vizag. The TDP leader has been on fast unto death for the past six days in protest against the privatisation of the Visakha Steel Plant. He was shifted from his protest camp to the KIMS Icon hospital.

The shifting came hours ahead of TDP chief and former CM Chandrababu Naidu’s visit to the port city to call on the striking TDP ex MLA. The police had to forcefully shift Palla Srinivasa Rao as he resisted their efforts and refused to give up his indefinite hunger strike.

Palla’s protest has created a political sensation in North Andhra districts with a large number of people expressing their solidarity. He has been serving as the TDP Vizag Parliament President. He is the former MLA of Gajuwaka assembly constituency in which the steel plant is located.

Only yesterday night, the TDP at its high level meeting held the Jagan Reddy regime responsible for anything that would happen to Palla’s life. The TDP also offered to extend its support if CM Jagan would lead the agitation against the privatisation.
