After impressing the audience with a boy next door role in Oohalu Gusagusalade, handsome lad Naga Shaurya was not able to continue his success streak with his next films. On this New Year, he is aiming to make a comeback with a different romantic tale which has its music score done by Illayaraja. Directed by Ramesh Varma, the film has hit the screens on New Year Day and let’s us see if it is worth a watch.

Plot :

Abhi ( Naga Shaurya ) is a carefree youngster who is fond of flirting and often dabbles with social media in search of girls. In this process, he chances upon a beautiful girl and tries to woo her with his smart behavior.

At the same time, he comes across Pradhana ( Palak Lalvani) and falls in love with her. Both Pradhana and Abhi get closer and intimate when their parents are away. Coming to know about the young pair’s bold relation, their parents send them out of their homes. In the meantime, Abhi gets to know that both Pradhana and his social media pal are one and the same.

The rest of the story is how Abhi gets back his love after these eventful untoward situations.

Positive Points :

Music maestro Illayaraja’s topnotch soundtrack is undoubtedly the biggest asset to this romantic entertainer. The album has generated a decent buzz before the film’s release and a couple of songs looked terrific on screen.

Veteran actor Mohan and versatile actor Rao Ramesh are an added advantage to this film. Both of them got meaty roles and they have done complete justice to their roles.

Negative Points :

The plot of the film is flimsy and has many flaws. A number of logics going missing in the narration. There is no clarity in the proceedings and the directors failed to convince the audience due to his lackluster writing skills.

The characters of the lead pair are poorly written and unfortunately they don’t have much scope to prove their acting skills. Only a few sentiment scenes will go well with the audience.

The over – the – board chemistry between the lead pair is unconvincing and their love track looks cheap and utterly insane.

Technical Department :

As mentioned earlier, the music score is one of the biggest takeaways for the film and it has been backed up superbly with the commendable cinematography. A couple of songs were shot pretty well. The background score could have been better.

The director has failed in all his departments. His writing is poor and the narration is out of the track. The screenplay doesn’t do any favours either.

The editor could have done a much more respectable job had he trimmed the needless scenes towards the end of film.

The production values are adequate.

Final Verdict :

Overall, Abbayi Tho Ammayi is a complicated love story which has been executed in a poor way. The spineless narration and the over the board chemistry thoroughly fail to convince the audience. Maestro Illayaraja’s music score is the only positive thing going its way.
