From Star-Comedian to Flop-Hero

It is a pity to see Sunil, who used to earn on par with the Top heroes when he was ruling the Telugu film industry as a Comedian, see new lows career-wise, pay-wise and image-wise. With a spate of unsuccessful films at box office, Sunil’s market has come down drastically. The situation has become so worse that he was forced to take money out of his own pocket to promote his new film.

For his latest film, ‘Ungarala Rambabu’, which hit screens today, Sep 15, Sunil was paid only half of the agreed remuneration. Citing he doesn’t have money, the film’s producer paid only half remuneration to all principle actors in the film actors including Prakash Raj, no wonder no one turned up for the promotions, not even the film’s heroine Miya George, who makes her Tollywood debut with the film. The producer cited the same reason when Sunil asked him to at least pump in money in promoting the film.

The release of ‘Ungarala Rambabu’ has already been delayed for very long as buyers weren’t interested in it. There is no buzz for the film, and without promotions, it would be a dead horse at box office. Fearing that his image and market would be affected if the film didn’t get openings, Sunil took money out of his own pocket and did the publicity.

This, not just the happenings in the case of this film but the result of his past few films, may have opened Sunil’s eyes as he reportedly talked about making comeback as comedian very soon.
