Rivalries are not uncommon in the film industry however its relatively rare in music and singing department of Telugu films. However the norm seems to be changing there as well.
A few years ago, singer Sunitha speaking to RK on “Open Heart with RK”, opined that she does not share a comfortable relation with singer Usha stating that the latter does not reciprocate when greeted upon. Sunitha repeated the same statement in a recent interview with journalist Swapna mentioning that Usha is “uncomfortable” around her (Sunitha) and they don’t share a cordial relation.
Interestingly, in a recent interview with famed interviewer TNR on “Frankly with TNR”, Usha trashed Sunitha’s remarks. Usha spoke positively about Sunitha, who has been part of her musical journey right from the days of Navaragam program, where she was a contestant and Sunitha served as an anchor. Usha recalled how the duo participated in Mani Sarma’s US concerts, played judges in Super Singer 7 (and) also collaborated for several programs over the years.
Usha referred to Sunitha as “a good friend” and added that both singers have mutual respect for each other. Usha recollected many occasions when the duo met and chatted about songs, family and indulged in “girl talk” such as dressing and hairstyle.
Usha also spoke about a recent meeting where both the singers met at an airport, ate dosas, took selfies with one another and discussed about their respective families at length.
Usha expressed surprise as to why Sunitha talks confusedly and negatively about her in several interviews when they share a good off screen friendship.
