NBK confirms Mokshagna’s Debut

Nandamuri Balakrishna participated in the birthday celebrations of his son Nandamuri Mokshagna which have been arranged by his fans in Ananthapur today. During the event, Balakrishna confirmed the most awaited debut of Mokshagna and confirmed that he will be launched during June next year. The pre-production work of the film is currently in process and Mokshagna is currently being trained specially informed the actor.

Balakrishna fans arranged a massive cake cutting during the event and he thanked his fans for the support. The actor is busy shooting for his next film in the direction of KS Ravikumar which will hit the screens during Sankranthi next year. The actor’s performance from the movie Paisa Vasool has been widely lauded by the audience but the film received poor response.

Paisa Vasool has collected an approx 84 lakhs yesterday in Telugu States which is huge drop when compared to Sunday which was at 2.14 cr. The drop is over 60%. 4 days total share of the film now stands at 13.8 Cr. Theatrical rights including expenses of the film are valued at 30cr in Telugu States and it is looking like it will find tough to recover at-least 60% of the investments.

The film is a disaster overseas as it was able to recover only the expenses.

‘Package Deal’ – this is the term exploited the most by once-top directors. When these directors hit rough patch, they can’t command the remuneration they used to get in their hey days. In such scenarios, instead of slashing their remuneration, they opt for ‘package deals’, which is proving to be an insidious trend.

Take the case of Puri Jagannath-Balayya’s ‘Paisa Vasool’. The director was allotted Rs 35 budget (including remunerations and excluding publicity) to wrap up the film. Puri wasn’t given a fixed remuneration, and his total pay would be as much as he could save from those 35 Cr.

The makers boasted of wrapping up the film in 78 working days. Finishing a top hero’s film in such short time is a feat that no one but only Puri can accomplish. Movie lovers may think it is because of Puri’s jet speed of film making but those who understand the intricacies of film making, know very well that the accomplishment is a result of director having his eye on money only.

Puri is an expert in utilizing package deals. In Paisa Vasool, except Shriya and Ali, there were no other big names. Even the crew wasn’t much demanding. Three songs were canned in the sets only. The unit filmed only chasing sequences and fights in Portugal, which was done over a period of 40 days. And, the entire remaining film was shot over less than 40 days in sets in Hyderabad. No wonder audiences were shocked at the film’s quality.

Buzz in film cirlces is that Puri took away home no less than Rs 10 crore with Paisa Vasool. In such case, ‘Paisa Vasool’ title is more apt to the director than the film. The producer isn’t complaining as he recovered his investment in the form of film’s decent pre-release business. We need to wait for a few more days to see whether distributors can Vasool their Paisa.

Before getting the nod of Balayya for Paisa Vasool, director Puri Jagannath faced two big rejections, from Megastar Chiranjeevi and NTR Jr. After watching Paisa Vasool, movie lovers say that the senior Mega hero and junior Nandamuri hero were perfectly correct in turning down the mediocre script narrated by Puri. It is heard that Paisa Vasool is the same script that the ‘Pokiri’ maker had narrated to Chiru and NTR.

It may be recalled that before locking Katthi remake, Puri’s ‘Auto Jaani’ was announced as Megastar Chiranjeevi’s comeback film. The project however was called off, and Chiru himself revealed in an interview that he wasn’t satisfied with the second half narrated by Puri.

After the success of ‘Temper’, NTR gave his word to Puri to work with him in another film. Honoring his word, NTR held rounds of discussions with Puri after Janatha Garage. The director however couldn’t convince the actor with his scripts, the subject of ‘Paisa Vasool’ was one of them.

Balayya on the other hand gave his nod to Puri even without listening to the story. He was so impressed by the hero’s characterization that he didn’t bother about the story, which is a rehash of Puri’s earlier movies, mainly ‘Pokiri’.

Now, as ‘Paisa Vasool’ is in theatres, people can understand why the story was rejected by Chiru and NTR.

This week’s solo release Paisa Vasool starring Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead has opened to mixed reports all over. The commercial entertainer took a very disappointing start at both domestic and overseas box office. The poor track record of both Puri Jagganadh and Balakrishna in overseas turned out to be a liability for the film’s openings.

As per the latest trade reports, Paisa Vasool took a very disappointing start in overseas. The film’s premieres registered a meagre figures in all areas. What is more embarrassing is that the film has managed only 40 percent of collections when compared to last week’s release Arjun Reddy, which is going great guns in its second weekend.

Puri’s outdated plot and weak narration made this film a mediocre watch despite Balakrishna’s praise worthy performance.

Very few combinations in Tollywood could have matched the hysteria that erupted when Puri Jagannadh announced a film with Nandamuri Balakrishna. The duo have teamed up for the first time in their careers and audience are eagerly awaiting the result of this crazy combination.

Let’s see if the dashing combination of Puri – Balayya strike it hard at the box office or not.

Story:
Teda Singh (Balakrishna) who wanders in the Hyderabad night clubs meets an IPS officer (Kyra Dutt) upon whose request, he takes up an assignment to assassinate Mafia don Bob Marley (Vikramjeet Singh) unofficially. Initially Teda Singh meets his neighbor Harika (Musskan Sethi) teases her but later the duo become friends. Harika, tipped by an anonymous person, suspects that Teda Singh was her sister’s killer.

Second half opens in Portugal, portraying Balakrishna in the role of cab driver. He takes on mafia don Bob Marley as Sarika (Shriya) tries to record evidences against Bob Marley. A shocking news about Teda Singh is revealed, when Bob Marley finds about conspiracy against him. Rest of the story revolves around the flashback of Teda Singh and how he takes on mighty mafia gang.

Analysis:
‘Teda Singh’ is an uncanny name for Balakrishna who is well-known for larger than life mass portrayals. Balakrishna accepting a different kind of treatment for his role, particularly the one who cracks a joke on himself, is very much appreciated. The first half of the film runs just for 65 minutes and is fast paced. The dialogues and Balayya’s new modulation will appeal to fans, as the storyline remains wafer-thin. Making it shoddier, the production values are cheap in first half. Especially the art work is disappointing. Director Puri Jagan despite being aware that there are many flicks with similar story line, picking this beaten to death story is surprising. Despite the shortcomings, Balakrishna as Teda Singh is successful in entertaining the fans in the first half. The movie in the second half has a serious tone slightly. The move is pretty fast paced, from the revealing the identity of Teda Singh till the Climax. Puri Jagan who did some homework around BalaKrishna’s characterization, failed to do justice to all other areas in the movie.

‘Paisa Vasool’ portrays Balayya in a role different than his screen image. Consequently, Balayya’s strengths are underutilized. Teda Singh’s comedy characterization partly works. In general, three songs and Portugal episodes are good! Puri Jagan should seriously consider coming out of his template of mafia don script. Overall, this film will be enjoyed by fans and mass audience only.

Petition in High Court against Balayya

YSR Congress general secretary K Shiva Kumar filed a petition in the Hyderabad High Court seeking action against actor cum politician Nadamuri Balakrishna for distributing money to voters during the Nandyal bypoll campaign.

It may be recalled that Telugu Desham Party MLA Balakrishna who is campaigning in Nandyal was allegedly found doling out cash to voters. Two photos went viral on social media in which the actor can be seen handing over Rs 100 notes to the people.

The petitioner informed the court despite filing a complaint with the Election Commission along with proofs against the Hindupur TDP MLA, the EC failed to initiate action. He requested the court to direct the EC to take action against Balakrishna.

The YSRCP MLA urged action against the actor a per the provisions of the Peoples Representation Act and Indian Penal code.

The combination of Puri Jagannadh and Nandamuri Balakrishna has been generating a lot of curiosity among audience ever since ‘Paisa Vasool’ went on floors. The impressive first look teaser, which was unveiled recently, featuring Balayya in a complete mass avatar has set high expectations on the film. The theatrical trailer of the film was unveiled last night on the eve of audio launch event in Khammam.

The two minute trailer promises a typical Puri Jagannadh commercial entertainer after the film’s release. The trailer starts off with a self-confessed and energetic Balayya, who introduces himself as Teda Singh. The trailer is Balayya’s one man show who dominates it from the beginning to the very end with his devil-may-care attitude.

His quirky mannerisms coupled with Puri’s trademark dialogues elevating hero’s image makes this is a purely mass treat for audience. Balakrishna’s energy levels are phenomenal, but his strident voice seems a little out of sync for the character.

A couple of fight sequences, energetic dance moves and car chases are showcased in the trailer. Anup Rubens music score compliments the mood of the trailer very well.

You are not a true Nandamuri Balayya fan if the hero hasn’t slapped you yet. Such are the precedents set by the Tollywood actor who is also Hindupur TDP legislator.

Minutes after a video depicting Balayya slapping his fan hard on the face in a fit of unprovoked rage surfaced, social media came out with numerous jokes against the boorish conduct of the actor who is unfortunately a people’s representative. Despite being an actor and a politician Balayya prefers to remain in the limelight for controversial things.

This is not the first time Balayya misbehaved with fans. 70years into independence while the fans continue the Gandhian way of getting slapped, the actor has never ceases to learn his lesson.

Will the Fans slap Balayya with a Case? They don’t even seek an apology. No fan who got smacked has slapped case against the actor-cum-politician unlike the infamous ‘Govinda slapgate’. The Supreme Court ordered the Bollywood hero Govinda to apologize and fined him for slapping a fan. The case was won by the fan after fighting for nine years and the apex court faulted actor for failing to act kindly.

While the person who gets slapped ebbs and the actor-cum-politician continues unleashing his whip on selfie mongers, the fan associations are inflicted with emotional distress in their desperate attempts to project their hero as number one.

Never was the actor seen accepting responsibility nor apologizing. The number of such unsavory incidents increased after he became legislator. He has been a part-time politician and fails to act conscientiously for the people who voted him to power.

He immediately needs to take anger management classes. If Balayya wants the world to remember him for his punctuality, he should also know that being on time doesn’t suffice alone, being there and most importantly being empathetic is vital. It takes only four muscles to slap and same to shake hand.

Balayya doles out Cash in Nandyal roadshow

Telugu Desham Party MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna who is campaigning in Nandyal was allegedly found doling out cash to voters. The actor cum politician of the ruling party had been participating in massive road shows in Nandyal since Wednesday.

Two photos went viral in which the actor can be seen holding Rs 100 notes and handing them over to the people.The photographs showed Hindupur MLA along with other leaders disbursing notes to people from a vehicle.

In the background of the picture, the Minister for Tourism is seen speaking at the roadshow. While the Election Commission and the ruling party sort this matter, Balakrishna campaigning in Nandyal has created more trouble to the cycle party than ever.

TDP reportedly denied any such cash distribution and also claimed that the pictures are photo shopped.

Balakrishna slaps fan for getting too close

Actor-politician Nandamuri Balakrishna, known for his temper, has again slapped a fan — for getting too close for a selfie.

The incident happened on Wednesday night when he was in Nandyal in Andhra Pradesh to campaign for the ruling Telugu Desam Party in a byelection.

According to a video on Twitter, Balakrishna, 57, is seen slapping a fan for trying to get too close for a picture. He then stares at him and walks away angrily.

The video clip has gone viral on social media.

This is not the first time Balakrishna has found himself in such a situation. Last year, during a visit to the Tirumala temple, he had slapped someone who tried to take a selfie with him.

Earlier this month, on the sets of his upcoming yet-untitled Telugu film with K.S Ravi Kumar, a leaked video showed an angry Balakrishna slapping his assistant and ordering him to tie his shoe laces.

Balakrishna’s upcoming Telugu action entertainer “Paisa Vasool” is slated for a September 1 release.

Tollywood Actor and Telugu Desham Party MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna participated in roadshow at in Venkateshwarapuram to campaign for the Nandyal by-election on Wednesday. Addressing the gathering, he said that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has been taking necessary actions for development of Nandyal. The actor-cum-politician said that Nandyal by-poll is a fight between morality and corruption, justice and injustice.

The Hindupur MLA came down heavily on Silpa brothers and critiqued that they were “selfish”, despite being given honorable positions in the TDP. Balakrishna said that Silpa Chakrapani Reddy was encouraged by TDP to be MLC as he wanted to do public service, but in the end betrayed the party. He called on to the electorates to vote for development. He asked the voters to cautious from people who speak pleasantly but act horridly.

He said that Bhuma Nagi Reddy’s daughters are under distress and suggested that people should stand up for them in such difficult times. Balakrishna said it is time for voters to teach a lesson to those who are resorting to divisive politics.
