Navayuga petitions High Court on Bandar Port

0

The Jagan Reddy government cancelled the Bandar Port agreement that was signed with the Navayuga Company in the previous Chandrababu Regime. The company challenged the YCP government’s latest decision in AP High Court. The next hearing on the case is to be taken up on September 12.

Navayuga lawyer urged the court to cancel the GO 66 issued by Jagan Circar regarding cancellation of port agreement. The Company argued that the government is giving misleading information that there’s no progress in the port works. The government is itself responsible for delay in the works as it is not handing over all the lands as per the agreement.

Navayuga says that it is given possession of only over 400 acres till now while another 4,500 acres are still to be handed over by the AP government. The company has so far spent Rs 436 Cr on the port project till now. The High Court could not take up hearing on Thursday as the advocates are on strike.

This is the second court case filed by Navayuga against Jagan Circar. The company already got stay orders issued against the YCP government’s cancellation of Polavaram contract.

Jagan Circar reverse game on Bandar Port

0

People’s organisations and political circles are surprised and perplexed at the YCP Government’s decision to cancel the Bandar Port works contract given to Navayuga Company. This has happened amid fears over Jagan Circar’s alleged intentions to hand over the historic port to the Telangana government. Bandar Port is considered to be the nearest port to Telangana which wants to integrate it with a dry port to be developed in their soil near the inter-state border.

Meanwhile, the ruling YCP leaders are spreading rumours that the Centre would be asked to develop Bandar Port as a major port as part of the prestigious Sagarmala Project. Civil society organisations in Krishna district are suspecting foul play in the entire issue. They are warning of another agitation if the government mishandled and pushed Bandar Port project to a dead-end once again. The port is a decades-old demand for which agitations were run at different times. Jagan Circar is sure to face angry protests in the near future if it doesn’t handle the issue in a transparent and fair manner.

Secret efforts still on to hand over Bandar port?

The Jaganmohan Reddy government has issued GO No. RT-62 on June 28, 2019, to hand over the Bandar port in Krishna district to the Telangana government. This was issued as a confidential, secret GO but later cancelled following a controversy. Jagan Circar reportedly took a U-Turn considering its serious impact on his party. But there are fresh allegations that secret efforts are still going on to hand over this port. With this, yet another Andhra asset is being given in a golden platter to KCR Circar. Already, the Andhra assets in Hyderabad are handed over.

It is a fact that KCR celebrated the victory of Jagan in AP election. At that time, there were reports that KCR was planning to get a dry port developed in Telangana soil. For its operation, Telangana should have a real port nearer to its soil. The worst fears of Andhra people are coming true that Jagan Circar is doing everything possible to benefit KCR and his TRS party interests.

In fact, the immediate natural asset of Andhra is its long coastline. There is a possibility to develop a lot of ports in addition to the existing ports at Vizag, Kakinada, Krishnapatnam, etc. Ports are indeed a great advantage that Andhra has over Telangana. In the name of agitation, KCR defamed Andhras but now he is craving for an Andhra port. Jagan Circar is playing with the sentiments of Andhras in every way possible.

Opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu says that Jagan Circar is even telling lies on the GO RT-62 though it was released over a month ago in a very secretive affair. When it was raised in the Assembly, the government said that there was no such move to hand over the port.

0

APCC president Raghuvira Reddy was attacked allegedly by TDP supporters in Kona Village near Bandar, Krishna district when he went there to meet the farmers to express his solidarity to their fight, on Sunday.
The farmers of Kona villages are opposing the proposal to acquire their lands for the proposed Bandar port and industrial corridor by the government. For the past one week, the farmers in the area have been on war path with the government.

on Sunday morning Raghuvira arrived in the village to meet the farmers and express Congress support to their fight against acquisition of land against their will. He indeed did meet some farmers and supported their cause. Meanwhile, some youth and farmers owing allegiance to Telugu Desam Party descended there raising anti-Raghuvira and anti-Congress slogans. They surrounded the APCC president tried to argue with him about his role there. Then some youth pelted sand and a brick at him.Police entered the scene and dispersed the mob using mild lathi-force. They also escorted Reddy to his car and asked him to leave the place as his presence likely to add up to the prevailing tension.

The farmers and fishermen last week held rasta roko and staged dharna on the national highway No 214 opposing the acquisition of about 30,000 acres of land.

State government wants to develop Machilipatnam port into a deep water port connected to new capital Amaravati. If the industrial corridor springs up in the area, it would almost bring the port nearer to Amaravati. Revenue official have started land-acquisition process as part of the development of port and industrial corridor.

The villagers of these villages are hopeful that these lands would become expensive assets once the capital is developed in Amaravati area. But, as the port is going to shatter their dreams, farmers of six villages- Manginapudi, Tapasipudi, Gopuvanipalem, Mekavarithota, Chinkaragraharam and Pedakaragraharam- are opposing to part with their lands.
