Centre’s move to keep KCR out of national agri panel draws flak

0

The Centre’s move to leave out Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao from a high-powered committee of chief ministers on agriculture has drawn flak from his Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).

The TRS believes that keeping out KCR, as Rao is popularly known, is a political decision by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government at the Centre.

The party feels that the country could have benefited from KCR’s vision and his ideas in transforming agriculture as the Centre was already replicating his ‘Rythu Bandhu’ scheme to provide investment support to farmers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday constituted a nine-member committee of Chief Ministers, headed by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, to help transform agriculture by increasing farmers’ income.

The panel — comprising Chief Ministers of Karnataka, Haryana, Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh — has been asked to submit in two months, its report suggesting policy measures to transform agriculture by attracting investments and raising growth in food processing.

Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and NITI Aayog member Ramesh Chand are also part of the panel.

“It is unfortunate if they don’t appreciate KCR’s efforts for the development of agriculture in the state and also his contribution at the Centre. It is also unfortunate that even after replicating Telangana’s schemes like ‘Rythu Bandhu’, they do not think his experience and vision is needed for the country,” TRS spokesman Abid Rasool Khan told IANS.

He pointed out that Telangana was path-breaker in the agriculture sector as it reduced farmers’ suicides by providing them 24-hour electricity and ample water, completing irrigation projects in record time and implementing innovative schemes like ‘Rythu Bandhu’ to provide financial assistance for cultivation and ‘Rythu Beema’ to offer free life insurance.

“All his experience would have helped the Centre in policy making. I think, it is only a political decision they have taken,” said Khan.

The pro-TRS media has also found fault with the Centre’s move to keep KCR out of the panel, saying it reeked of prejudice against states that had success stories to tell.

KCR, who had mooted a Federal Front comprising non-BJP and non-Congress parties before the Lok Sabha elections, had also announced that agriculture would be top on the national agenda of the proposed alliance.

The Federal Front could not take off as BJP-led NDA retained power with a huge majority.

Can BJP Telugu leaders win Modi-Shah favours?

0

The BJP is able to successfully win over some top level leaders from TDP and Congress in AP and Telangana states. But that is not triggering a wave of migrations of more leaders and activists in the field level. All through, the BJP has got a very nominal presence as far as Assembly elections are concerned in Telugu States. Now, the Modi-Shah duo has set a target of winning Assembly elections in 2022 Jamili elections.

The mood in top leadership has put a big responsibility on the leaders who have joined the BJP recently. They got busy to convince and win over more TDP leaders to join the BJP. This is the immediate task before even the four MPs Sujana Chowdary, CM Ramesh, TG Venkatesh and Garikipati Rammohan Rao in AP. They are trying hard to win over even a good number of MLAs from TDP to make the BJP the main opposition party in the state. But there is some response from only one or two MLAs but nearly 16 MLAs are required to deprive TDP of its opposition status in Assembly.

Even in Telangana, top leaders like DK Aruna are now busy convincing more leaders to migrate from Congress. Analysts say that this is just a beginning as the BJP national leaders will do whatever it takes to sabotage rival parties and get a decent presence in Telugu states in the next two years.

We should get rid of YCP tag, says BJP Ram Madhav

0

The senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party held a meeting at Haailand resort near Mangalagiri today. BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav addressed the meeting. They discussed the one month rule of YCP and also the need for changing the political direction of BJP in the state. Ram Madhav had asked the party leaders to find out ways on how to remove the image of BJP as a friendly part of YCP.

Some leaders have brought to the notice of Ram Madhav on YCP-friendly statements being given by leaders like MP GVL Narasimha Rao. These comments may have a negative impact on the coming membership drive. They contended that the BJP should take up a hostile stance and begin attacking the ruling YCP.

BJP AP leaders said that CM Jaganmohan Reddy is facing serious criticism over the demolition of Praja Vedika building built by Chandrababu Naidu. They also pointed out that there was criticism against Jagan’s extension of Amma Vodi financial assistance to students of private educational colleges.

All eyes on BJP membership drive in AP

0

Political circles are full of speculation on the coming membership drive of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Andhra Pradesh. There is a lot of curiosity and expectation. Like film fans await the release of their favourite star’s cinema, these leaders are waiting for this big event. The reasons are simple. The BJP is expecting big migration of leaders from the main opposition Telugu Desam Party, the Jana Sena and also ruling YCP.

BJP state president Kanna Lakshminarayana has announced that the membership drive will be taken up from July 6. He has asked the district level leaders to welcome the leaders in a cordial manner. As of now, the party membership is over 25 lakh. A target has been set to double this taking advantage of current political trends.

BJP national secretary Sunil Deodhar is currently visiting different parts in the state. The party’s aim has been to step up activities to fill the political vacuum and win elections in 2022 Jamili elections in AP. Already, Ex MLAs and Ex MPs are being taken into the party at Delhi level. BJP leaders are welcoming leaders from other parties without losing any time. The high command has ordered local leaders to act positively in taking and winning over other parties’ leaders.

Chiru ‘No’ to BJP once again?

0

Megastar Chiranjeevi is currently busy with his upcoming film ‘Sye Raa’ and is not focusing on politics. However, political parties like BJP are planning to bring him into their party. Recently BJP leaders Ram Madhav and Kanna Lakshmi Narayana reported to have a meeting with Chiranjeevi and invited him into the party. However, there was no update on what happened later. But as per the latest information from inside circles, Chiranjeevi gently rejected their proposal. Details as below.

BJP trying to pull in Chiranjeevi is not a new thing. Many BJP leaders, who know Chiranjeevi charisma always thought that his joining will help their party grow in Andhra Pradesh. Probably because of the same reason they approached Chiranjeevi in 2004 itself, but he refused them. Even before 2014 elections also of there were rumours of Chiranjeevi joining BJP but he later condemned those reports. Now BJP is planning to grow in Telugu states and leaving no option to strengthen the party. BJP leaders once again thought of pulling Chiranjeevi into their party and had a meeting with him.

After this meeting, some channels give breaking news that Chiranjeevi is all set to join BJP. Many tried to find out what Chiranjeevi replied to BJP leaders but no one from the mega compound had any clue on this. Finally reports coming from BJP leaders that Chiranjeevi gently refused to join BJP once again. We will have to wait and see whether BJP will persuade him further or plan something else.

Will TDP leaders help BJP to grow in AP?

0

If you look at recent developments in AP it is very clear that BJP is trying to grow in AP and it has started its operations to achieve this Target. The first target is to induct TDP MP’s and leaders in to BJP thereby sending signals TDP leaders that door is open for BJP. But will it really help BJP by inducting leaders who do not have Public image.

If you look at the political journey of the TDP MP’s who joined recently in BJP, they have started Journey with TDP and they do not have public image as such and they cannot win independently with their own image that is the reason they were made Rajya Sabha MP’s. and Babu has given them importance since they were backing party in terms of financial needs when needed. They cannot add any value to BJP in AP except spending money in AP for BJP Party Activities. Ambika Krishna induction too does not add any value and these leaders cannot take the party into Public as expected. We also have Pawan Kalyan who has started plans to stay in public for the next 5 years and ensure that his party will grow and form government or become main opposition. We also have Babu who cannot be written off. We also have congress who is struggling for its existence. BJP should also note that invoking religious feeling may not work in AP like it worked in Hindi speaking states since AP public may not resort to communal unrest.

Also, there is strong negative sentiment on BJP in AP public since BJP went back on Special status and state was neglected. So if BJP really wants to grow in BJP then it has to come do something extra ordinary for AP Public where they might think to vote for BJP.

Considering all the above factors it is very difficult for BJP to grow in AP by 2023. It is difficult but not impossible since anything is possible in Politics.

Can BJP make CBN Invisible in AP by joining TDP leaders

0

Recent developments in AP clearly suggests that BJP is trying hard to spread its wings in AP and create troubles to Babu by inducting leaders from TDP. By inducting Rajya sabha TDP MP’s into BJP it has sent signals to TDP leaders that doors are open. This clearly indicates that BJP is planning to make Chandra Babu Invisible in AP by inducting strong leaders from TDP into BJP and corner CBN by filing some cases related to Amaravati land corruptions with the help of Jagan and send CBN to Jail. Recent comments by AP BJP Incharge Sunil Dheodhar claiming that Babu will be sent to Jail within 2 years support the claims.

But Is it really possible for BJP to make Babu Invisible in AP by inducting TDP leaders into BJP? If you look into TDP and Babu’s History it is not that easy to write off TDP and Babu from AP. TDP has strong party cadre than YCP and it has Loyal voters who will vote them irrespective of the situation. Also, as you all know that TDP has backing from Kamma Community. In the recent election, few may have voted for YCP but that doesn’t mean that they will move away from TDP completely. They will definitely come to TDP and Babu’s rescue when needed. Considering Babu’s mentality he may now remain silent but he will have his own plans and he will be working on them to revive TDP party. Every state needs opposition party and at present since Jagan is new CM public may support his all decisions and after a year and two there is a need for opposition and Babu will come back into picture and play key role in this since TDP is the strong opposition in AP and it is not possible practically to replace Babu in near future.

So BJP and YCP may try to create troubles for Babu but this may not work completely as expected and making Babu Invisible from AP is not possible.

Congress flays Centre for going back on special status to Andhra

0

The Congress on Wednesday accused the BJP government of trampling “constitutionalism” by disregarding the promise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to provide special status category to Andhra Pradesh and said it was akin to betraying the nine core people of the state.

“Trampling upon constitutionalism and backstabbing the trust of the people have become synonymous with the BJP. The new BJP government has broken its first promise by bluntly refusing to grant special category status to Andhra Pradesh and disrespecting the provisions of Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014,” Congress media in-charge Randeep Singh Surjewala said in a statement.

He said Finance Minister Nirmarla Sitharaman, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, has said in Parliament that “there was no proposal under consideration of the Central government to grant Special Category Status (SCS) to any state”.

Surjewalka said: “it is a shameful betrayal of nine crore people of Andhra Pradesh”.

Surjewala said that Congress President Rahul Gandhi has repeatedly raised the issue of denying the Special Category Status to Andhra Pradesh and fulfilling the financial commitment to Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. “We hope the new government of YSR Congress will take up this important issue with BJP,” he said.

Surjewala said that on February 20, 2014, when the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Bill, 2014 was being discussed, the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had made a solemn commitment on the floor of Parliament as Prime Minister of India that for the purposes of Central assistance, special category status will be extended to the successor state of Andhra Pradesh.

“This commitment of special category status to newly carved out state of Andhra Pradesh had been discussed with Arun Jaitley, the then Leader of the Opposition and other senior BJP leaders and they had agreed on the same,” he said.

TDP MLA in talks with BJP leaders in Delhi?

0

TDP Repalle MLA Anagani Satya Prasad has been in Delhi these past few days. Political speculation is high that he will join BJP any time now. He has already held talks with BJP Working President JP Nadda to whom he was introduced by TDP defected MP Garikapati Mohan Rao. Along with Satya Prasad, two more TDP MLAs are also in touch with the BJP leaders.

Satya Prasad has not officially announced his decision anywhere. Meanwhile, Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi rejected rumours that he was planning to join BJP. He admitted that defected MP Sujana Chowdary is his relative. But he has no plans to leave the TDP because of his long association with the party. He also dismissed rumours that nearly 17 TDP MLAs are eagerly waiting to leave the party.

The TDP’s crisis is deepening ever since 4 MPs left the party and joined the BJP. Speculation is that these MPs are trying to join TDP MLAs as well into the BJP. YCP has said that these defected MPs are but coverts of Naidu in BJP.

Party over for Naidu? Over a dozen TDP MLAs in touch with BJP

0

After engineering the defection of four Rajya Sabha members of Telugu Desam Party, the BJP is now in touch with more than two-thirds of TDP MLAs in Andhra Pradesh who may join the BJP soon.

The state in-charge of Andhra Pradesh and National Secretary of BJP, Sunil Deodhar, said TDP supremo N. Chandrababu Naidu and and his immediate family are facing serious charges of corruption and the party’s citadel seems to be crashing down. He said several TDP MLAs are in touch with BJP, but he refused to share their number.

Speaking to IANS, Deodhar said the TDP was now a party with “no future as Naidu’s misdeeds and acts of corruption” had been exposed.

“From cash-for-vote scandal to various controversial government contracts awarded by his (TDP) government, Naidu seems neck-deep in corruption. That is the reason why most of MLAs, even his close aides, are deserting the party. Four MPs in Rajya Sabha have already joined us and now several other leaders are approaching us,” said Deodhar, who was the main architect of BJP’s historic win in the Assembly elections of Tripura.

Though Deodhar did not comment on how many MLAs of TDP were in touch with him, sources in the party revealed that around 16-17 MLAs of TDP have approached BJP and could abandon Naidu.

At present the TDP has only 23 MLAs in the 175-member Assembly in Andhra Pradesh. The number of TDP MLAs in touch with BJP are well over the two-thirds the strength of the Telugu Desam legislature party, required under anti-defection laws, to switch loyalty.

Earlier last week, the defection by TDP’s four Rajya Sabha members came as a shock to Naidu, who suffered an embarrassing defeat in the recent general election. Sources said Naidu, President of the TDP, was on a foreign tour with his family when the defections of Rajya Sabha members took place.

On corruption charges leveled against Naidu, the BJP National Secretary said that he is awaiting orders of the present Chief Minister, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy who has assured him that cases relating to serious fraud and corruption involving the TDP leadership would be recommended for a CBI probe.

“Let’s see what is the outcome (of Jagan’s assurance). If there is any dilly-dallying by Jagan on recommending a CBI probe, then we will raise the issues relating to corruption involving Naidu and his family. We know that a lot of financial irregularities were committed while building the new capital, Amravati. Cash-for-vote scandal, in which an audio of Naidu was recorded, is yet another glaring incident. There are several such cases against him (Naidu),” said Deodhar, who is also state in-charge of Tripura, ruled by BJP.

He added: “Let me make it clear, the party is over for Naidu.”

Sunil Deodhar, a full-time RSS pracharak, was handpicked by party President Amit Shah and made in-charge of Andhra Pradesh a few months back. The decision to hand over Andhra Pradesh to Deodhar was taken by the BJP leadership after he, as in-charge of Tripura, launched an aggressive campaign against the Left and toppled four-term Chief Minister Manik Sarkar’s government in Agartala.

Chiranjeevi is BJP’s CM candidate for 2022?

0

The Bharatiya Janata Party is busy making hectic plans for AP for the coming Jamili 2022 elections. As part of this, the party top brass have begun efforts to bring in Mega Star Chiranjeevi. They are promising to project him as the party Chief Ministerial candidate for 2022 poll. BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav and state president Kanna Laxminarayana have already held discussions with the former union minister and popular actor.

It is well known that the Pawan Kalyan started Jana Sena party with which Chiranjeevi has not become associated. Mega Star stayed away from politics following AP bifurcation and subsequent electoral failures of Congress party with which his Praja Rajyam Party was merged.

Analysts say that it would be very difficult to bring Chiranjeevi into politics at this stage. But the rumour is that the Modi-Shah duo are determined to win over Chiranjeevi in order to get the support of the numerically dominant Kapu community in Andhra. The BJP is of the opinion that their party needs Kapus just like YCP is dependent on Reddys and TDP on Kammas. Their belief is that Mega Star in BJP will certainly make a difference and it will also marginalise Jana Sena factor.

Are BJP AP leaders insignificant?

0

The BJP AP leaders criticised TDP in election campaign more than YCP. They thought that the BJP national leadership would reward for defeating TDP. But the reverse is happening now. The BJP top leadership has welcomed 4 TDP MPs into the party without telling the AP unit.

Naturally, the disciplined AP leaders have become a little unhappy but none of them can dare speak out their mind. Obviously, they can’t speak out against a decision taken by the Modi-Shah duo. The Bharatiya Janata Party couldn’t win a single MLA or MP seat in Andhra. How can the AP leaders expect recognition from the national leadership? TDP might have suffered a humiliating defeat but BJP could not even get a decent vote share. Is this not a loss of face? Analysts say that Amit Shah will care less and less about party AP leaders as far as taking leaders from TDP to strengthen and prepare the party for a decent show in next election.

3 BJP workers hurt while setting afire KCR’s effigy

0

Three Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) activities, including two women, sustained burns while setting afire an effigy of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao during a protest, here on Monday.

They were taking part in a protest against rape and murder of a nine-month-old girl in Warangal town. They were demanding stringent punishment for the alleged rapist and killer.

The incident took place when a party worker poured petrol on the burning effigy of the Chief Minister popularly known as KCR.

BJP Warangal Urban district chief Rao Padma suffered burns on her hands, a party worker identified as Srinivas sustained multiple injuries and another BJP woman activist minor injuries.

They were admitted to a hospital, where Srinivas’ condition is stated to be critical.

BJP leader sensational comments on TDP MPs merger

0

The BJP has begun effectively defending the TDP MPs merger. Anti-BJP leaders are commenting bitterly against the issue across the country. Now BJP State Vice President S Vishnuvardhan Reddy asked whether the 4 TDP MPs have become tainted only after joining the Bharatiya Janata Party. Why is there so much hue and cry over the issue when everything went as per the law?

Vishnuvardhan Reddy asserted that the merger was totally constitutional and there was nothing amiss. He pointed out that there were only allegations and enquiries of irregularities against Sujana Chowdary and CM Ramesh but there were no cases. The rival parties are making mountains out of molehills. Reddy asked how could Chandrababu Naidu joined 23 defected MLAs into his party from the YCP. Didn’t Naidu rub shoulders with the scam-tainted leaders of the UPA?

BJP and Jagan game plans for BC vote share !

Political equations are changing fast in AP after the TDP MPs merger with the BJP. Rumours are circulating on the bigger plans of Modi-Shah duo to emerge as the real alternative to the YCP. For this, the BJP is trying to win over the strong leaders from the TDP all over the state. If the party is successful, it will have the advantage of getting good support from the backward classes vote bank which traditionally belongs to TDP.

On the other hand, CM Jaganmohan Reddy has initiated plans to attract at least 10 per cent vote share of BCs. As of now, YCP enjoys support of 35 per cent vote share of Reddys, SCs, STs and Minorities. If YCP succeeds in increasing its permanent support base to 45 per cent including BCs, the party will have no threat from either TDP or BJP or any opposition alliance. This is why YCP is demanding reservations for BCs in legislatures. Also, plans are afoot to convert BCs into Christianity which is backbone for the ruling party.

The YCP leaders are becoming very cautious in view of the fact that BJP is making a comeback with full forces in AP. BJP may have got just 0.5 per cent vote share in the recent election but its capacity to quickly recover is not being underestimated. Analysts recall how the BJP leaders played a key role in demotivating and causing defeat of Chandrababu Naidu in recent elections.

Pro-TDP media favouring BJP now, says Vijayasai

0

YCP firebrand MP Vijayasai Reddy has made a scathing attack on the ‘pro-TDP’ media on the issue of recent merger of 4 TDP MPs with the BJP. He says that the TDP media has suddenly become BJP-friendly and started writing reports in favour of the ruling party at the Centres. Why has this media not published criticising the merger? Obviously, they have understood and began following the new line taken by Chandrababu Naidu, says Vijayasai.

It may be recalled that the YCP has equally targetted a section of media in the recent general election. The bitterness is still continuing as is evident from the MP’s remarks now. He says that there are pro-BJP stories and analysis reports though the party concerned has lured four MPs from the TDP.

TDP boss Chandrababu Naidu has criticised the MPs’ merger but the YCP is alleging that it was Naidu who has masterminded the entire merger issue. Vijayasai says that Naidu’s present game plan is to take the help of these defected MPs to save himself from the Note for Vote scam and such allegations.

Will BJP target TDP MLAs now?

0

Political circles are agog with speculation on the next move of the Modi-Shah duo in Andhra Pradesh. Will they target and lure TDP MLAs also into the BJP fold now? Rumours are circulating that the BJP’s next game plan is to finish off the TDP in the AP Assembly. Thereby, it wants to shake the morale and confidence of the TDP leaders and cadres in the leadership of Chandrababu Naidu.

Afterwards, the BJP wants to step up its activities to lure TDP leaders and activists in district and mandal levels. The BJP is confident that the ruling YCP will not cause any hurdles in its path. The YCP is just playing a catalysing role to hurt Naidu as much as possible.

BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav is taking part in the TANA functions in America soon. There he is meeting with Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Payyavula Kesav and other leaders. More political surprises are expected in the next few weeks.

BJP will be strong force in AP by 2024: Somu Veerraju

0

BJP leader Somu Veerraju made a statement today that BJP will be strong force in AP by 2024. Usually this kind of statements are not taken seriously by people as all parties aspire to be strong force by next elections so that they can compete for power. However, the timing of Somu Veerraju statement is making all the difference and the statement is being scrutinized political analysts.

Four Rajya sabha MPs of TDP joining BJP gave a rude shock to the party. There are also rumors that BJP is on the mission of completely merging TDP legislative party in assembly into BJP. TDP won 23 seats and if 2/3 of that strength, i.e. 16 MLAs agree for the merger, party will be merged and remaining MLAs will become independent MLAs. By seeing the latest moves of BJP, people are suspecting whether Modi – Amit Shah duo will let TDP party stay alive till next elections. In this light, Somu Veerraju’s statement that BJP will become strong force by next election has attained significance. How can the party that didn’t win single MLA or single MP or at least 1% votes in the state will become contender for power in the span of 5 years. It is possible only if the strongest opposition party dies. Even then also, it is doubtful whether BJP will occupy the slot of main opposition party or someone else will emerge.

Yet Somu Veerraju saying that BJP will become formidable force, is taken seriously among political circles as BJP is in power at center. The party at the center can “influence” central government agencies to arm-twist any politician they want. They can lure leaders who are financially sound to join their party. Allegedly, they can even use ‘constitutional bodies’ like election commission for their political gains. As the analysts know what all can a central government can really do, if it wants, they are taking the comments of Somu Veerraju seriously.

We will have to wait and see whether BJP will really become a strong force in AP in next 5 years.

MPs merger with BJP unconstitutional: TDP

0

TDP Parliamentary Party asked Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu to disqualify the 4 MPs who have joined the BJP. TDPP leader Galla Jayadev led a delegation of party MPs and met Venkaiah today. TDP claims that a small group of MPs cannot be merged with other parties. A political party as a whole can be merged with another party as per the law but a breakaway group of it cannot be merged.

Jayadev says that their party would demand and agitate till the illegally defected MPs are disqualified from their Rajya Sabha membership. Thota Sitaramalaksmi is being made TDP leader in Rajya Sabha. Vijayawada MP Kesineni Nani was also in the TDP delegation.

Venkaiah has not yet taken any decision on the TDP MPs merger. But in some official websites, Sujana Chowdary, CM Ramesh, TG Venkatesh and Garikipati Johan Rao were mentioned as BJP MPs.

Why YCP bothering about TDP MPs merger?

0

The ruling YCP in AP is passing serious comments on the TDP Rajya Sabha MPs’ merger with the Bharatiya Janata Party. YCP general secretary C Ramachandraiah is very upset. He says that Chandrababu Naidu himself has sent his MPs to join the BJP in order to save himself from the Note for Vote case. Though these MPs are in the BJP now, they will act as the coverts for Chandrababu because of which the BJP leaders should be cautious about this.

Analysts are describing this as indeed a panic reaction on the part of YCP. It was clear how Jagan Team and Prashant Kishor could get a lot of advantage during the election because of support from the Modi-Shah duo and the Election Commission of India. YCP knows full well now that Chandrababu is going into a safe zone as also his MPs who joined BJP.

There is more coming in future to embarrass CM Jagan. The BJP leaders are already claiming that their party is going to be the real opposition for YCP in AP very soon. There are indications that many former MLAs and local leaders from TDP are joining BJP soon. The coming developments are expected to change political equations totally in the state. YCP may not be able to attack BJP aggressively because of the CBI cases against both Jagan and Vijayasai Reddy.
