T’gana BJP leaders irked over delay in declaring trends

0

The leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday lodged a protest with the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) over the delay announcing round-wise results in Munugode Assembly by-election.

State BJP president Bandi Sanjay alleged that CEO Vikas Raj’s conduct was raising suspicions. He said that round-wise results were being announced only if Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) was in the lead. “When the BJP candidate is taking the lead, round-wise details are not being released,” he said.

He wanted to know why the CEO failed to update the results in the second and third rounds after declaring the outcome of the first and second rounds. Sanjay, who is also a Member of Parliament, said never in the past such delay in updating results was reported.

Sanjay said the CEO was releasing the round-wise figures of votes polled by the candidates only after pressure from the media. He said if there was any irregularity in counting and declaration of results, the BJP would lodge a complaint with the Election Commission of India.

Meanwhile, Union minister for tourism and culture G. Kishan Reddy spoke to the CEO over phone and expressed his unhappiness over the delay in announcing round-wise results. He questioned the CEO on why he was not announcing the results at the end of every round.

The poll officials, however, dismissed the criticism and clarified that counting was underway in a transparent manner. They attributed the delay in announcing round-wise results to the presence of a large number of candidates.

A total of 47 candidates are in fray in Munugode. In the neck and neck battle, TRS candidate K. Prabhakar Reddy was leading by a narrow margin over his nearest rival Rajagopal Reddy of the BJP.

Telangana BJP president arrested on way to Munugode

1

Telangana state BJP president Bandi Sanjay was detained by police on the outskirts of Hyderabad early Thursday, when he was heading to Munugode Assembly constituency where polling began this morning.

Alleging that non-local leaders of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) were continuing to stay in the constituency even after campaigning ended on Tuesday, he, along with his supporters, tried to proceed towards the constituency in Nalgonda district this morning.

There was high drama after Sanjay and other BJP leaders left the party office in Hyderabad. Despite the attempts by police to stop them at Malakpet and Vanasthalipuram, they moved ahead.

The police finally stopped his convoy of vehicles on Hyderabad-Vijayawada highway at Abdullapurmet. There was an argument between BJP leaders and police officers.

Tension prevailed as BJP leaders resisted police attempts to arrest them. Raising slogans against the government, Sanjay and others sat on the road. The police finally arrested Sanjay and shifted him to Abdullapurmet police station.

Sanjay, who is also a Member of Parliament, alleged that election authorities and police were not taking any action against TRS leaders who remained in Munugode on the polling day.

BJP candidate Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy also staged a protest in Munugode late Wednesday night demanding the police to send out all non-local TRS leaders. He, along with his supporters, staged a sit-in in front of the office of the returning officer. He also alleged that the election officials were taking no action against TRS leaders who are intimidating voters.

The BJP candidate later staged a protest at Chandur police station. He called off the protest after police officers gave an assurance that they will look into his complaint.

BJP, TRS workers clash ahead of bypoll

0

Workers of BJP and TRS clashed on Tuesday in Telangana’s Munugode Assembly constituency where a by-election is scheduled on Thursday.

Few workers of both the parties were injured in the incident that occurred at Pulivela when leaders of both the parties were busy campaigning.

Some supporters of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) allegedly pelted stones on the convoy of BJP MLA Eatala Rajender who was campaigning in the village.

Both the groups attacked each other with stones and sticks. Police intervened to disperse the clashing groups.

Both the parties blamed each other for the attack. Rajender, who was earlier with TRS, alleged that ruling party workers attacked him when he along with his wife came to the village to have lunch with the people. He claimed that two MLAs of ruling party and two Zilla Parishad chairpersons were behind the attack.

The former minister claimed that 30 people including his security personnel and personal assistant were injured. He said 10-15 vehicles were also damaged in the attack.

BJP’s publicity vehicle was also damaged in the attack. The BJP MLA said the BJP cadres acted with restraint. “We are against physical attacks. Our party is running the election campaign in a democratic manner,” he said.

Union Minister for Tourism and Culture G. Kishan Reddy also condemned the attack by TRS men. He said the TRS was resorting to physical attacks due to fear of losing the by-election. He claimed that despite the violence by the TRS, the BJP will win the four Assembly by-election in the state.

Meanwhile, TRS blamed BJP for the attack. Minister for finance and health T. Harish Rao said since TRS enjoyed people’s support, BJP had become desperate. He urged the party cadres to act with restraint in view of the polling.

Audio clip surfaces in ‘MLAs poaching’ case

0

In another twist in ‘MLAs poaching’ case, an audio of telephonic conversation between the main accused and a TRS MLA surfaced on Friday.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) leaked the audio of purported conversation between Ramachandra Bharati, alias Satish Sharma alias Swamiji, and Pilot Rohit Reddy, the MLA who tipped-off the Cyberabad police about the attempt to buy him and three other MLAs resulting in the arrest of three alleged agents of BJP.

The names of BJP general secretary B. L. Santhosh and ‘Number two’ figured in the telephonic conversation about the deal to buy the MLAs.

The conversation, which was also joined by second accused Nanda Kumar alias Nandu, took place before the accused met four TRS MLAs at a farmhouse near Hyderabad on Wednesday.

During the conversation, Swamiji is heard telling Rohit Reddy that once the abulk’ is ready, ASantosh can come to Hyderabad to finalise it. Swamiji also informed Rohit that Santosh had gone to Ahmedabad with ‘Number two’.

“Can you share the names with number two,” asked Swamiji when Rohit Reddy was reluctant to share the names of other MLAs ready to switch loyalties.

Swamiji also assured the MLA that the Centre will give complete protection from the Centre. “It is our responsibility to take care of you. When you are under our scanner, you don’t have to worry, including from ED to the income tax. We have good experience in Bengal,” the MLA was told.

Ramachandra Bharati of Delhi, Nanda Kumar of Hyderabad and Simhayaji Swamy were arrested by the police during a raid on a farmhouse at Moinabad near Hyderabad on Wednesday night.

The accused said to be close to some top BJP leaders were trying to lure four MLAs of the TRS with offers huge sums of money, important positions and contracts.

In his complaint to police, Rohit Reddy alleged that they offered Rs 100 crore to him and Rs50 crore each to three other MLAs.

The incident triggered tremor in state politics ahead of the November 3 by-election to Munugode Assembly seat as the TRS claimed a conspiracy by BJP to topple its government had been foiled.

The saffron party, however, denied the allegations and claimed that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao orchestrated a drama to tarnish its image for electoral gain in Munugode.

The police produced the accused before a judge at his residence on Thursday night with a petition to remand them to judicial custody.

The judge, however, rejected the police petition for sending the accused to judicial custody, citing lack of evidence. He observed that the Prevention of Corruption Act does not apply to the case as there is no evidence of bribe money.

The judge told police to issue notices to the accused under Section 41 of Criminal Procedure Code for questioning.

On the judge’s orders, police released all the three accused. They were subsequently issued notices directing them to appear before police within 24 hours. The police also moved the Telangana High Court challenging the order of the lower court.

BJP, TRS two sides of same coin: Rahul

0

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday slammed both BJP and TRS, describing them as two sides of the same coin.

He alleged that both the parties are anti-democratic, buys MLAs and topple governments.

The Congress MP was addressing a meeting in Narayanpet district of Telangana as part of his Bharat Jodo Yatra.

“I want to make it clear that for us both BJP and TRS are the same. They are two sides of the same coin. You need to understand that both parties work together. They help each other. In Delhi, TRS helps BJP and in Telangana, BJP supports TRS,” he said.

“Both are anti-democratic parties. They practice politics of money, buy MLAs and topple governments,” he added.

Rahul Gandhi’s comments came a day after three persons were arrested in Hyderabad while trying to lure four MLAs of TRS with offer of huge sums of money to defect to BJP.

The TRS has alleged that it was a conspiracy by BJP to buy the MLAs to destabilise its government in the state but the saffron party has denied the allegation.

Rahul Gandhi recalled that whatever Bill Prime Minister Narendra Modi wanted to pass in the Parliament, the TRS extended its full support. “The three black laws on agriculture were fully supported by the TRS. In the Assembly, we brought a resolution against the three farm laws but TRS did not support it,” he said.

He stated that BJP and TRS are not political parties but businesses who loot public money but don’t do anything good for people.

The Congress MP also remarked that the TRS government in Telangana is perhaps the country’s most corrupt government. He referred to the Rs 15,000 crore Miyapur land scam and the corruption in Kaleshwaram project.

Rahul Gandhi said Telangana farmers say that TRS in Telangana is doing what BJP is doing at the Centre.

After a three-day break, Rahul resumed the Bharat Jodo Yatra on Thursday, which also marked completion of 50 days of Kanyakumari to Kashmir walkathon.

During the day, the Congress leader walked up to 26 km and interacted with farmers, fishermen and beedi workers.

Former Indian cricket captain and Congress leader Mohammad Azharuddin also joined the yatra on Thursday.

Rahul Gandhi alleged that Telangana and the country are witnessing highest-ever corruption and unemployment. He claimed that demonetisation and GST broke the backbone of providing employment in the country.

“Employment is mainly provided by small and medium businesses but demonetization and GST forced closure of lakhs of small and medium businesses. Today, even if the country and Telangana want to provide employment, they can’t. This is the ground reality,” he said.

He said people were suffering due to unemployment on one side and price rise on the other.

“Petrol and diesel prices have gone up. When the price of a cooking gas cylinder was Rs 400, Narendra Modi used to criticize us. Today, the price has gone up to Rs 1,000 but he does not utter a word,” he said.

He told people that the aim of Bharat Jodo Yatra is to stand up to the hatred and violence being spread in the country.

He stated that walking 3,500 km is not an easy task but the love and affection shown by people has made it easy. He said with the strength given by the people, walking for 7-8 hours every day has become easy for him.

MLAs poaching case: BJP moves HC for CBI probe

1

In another dramatic twist in the case relating to alleged attempt to poach four MLAs of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), the BJP on Thursday moved the Telangana High Court seeking a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

With the TRS alleging that the three men arrested while trying to lure its MLAs belonged to the BJP, the saffron party hit back by approaching the high court seeking direction to transfer the case to the central agency for a ‘fair’ probe.

In its petition, the BJP found fault with the manner in which police are conducting the probe and pleaded for interim orders to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) for an impartial investigation.

The BJP has made the state government, Director General of Police, Cyberabad police commissioner, other police officials, union government and the CBI as respondents in the case.

The saffron party alleged that attempts are being made to tarnish its image by making false accusations of trying to buy TRS MLAs.

Cyberabad police on Wednesday arrested three persons from a farmhouse at Moinabad near Hyderabad when they were allegedly trying to lure four TRS MLAs to defect to BJP.

On a complaint by one of the MLAs Pilot Rohit Reddy, police registered a case against Ramachandra Bharati, alias Satish Sharma, of Delhi, Nanda Kumar of Hyderabad and Simhayaji Swamy of Tirupati.

The TRS leaders have alleged that the two godmen and businessman Nanda Kumar are close to union ministers and top BJP leaders.

Police have booked the accused for criminal conspiracy), bribery and criminal intimidation under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Prevention of Corruption Act.

According to the complainant, the accused offered him Rs 100 crore, central government civil contract works and other high central government positions for monetary benefits.

Rohit Reddy told police that the accused warned him that if he does not join the BJP, there will be criminal cases and raids by ED/CBI and the Telangana government led by TRS will be toppled by them. He said the accused offered Rs 50 crore each to the three other MLAs.

On a tip-off by Rohit Reddy, Cyberabad police reached the farmhouse and arrested the three accused.

The police seized mobile phones of the accused and were retrieving call data.

The trio were being questioned by the police at an undisclosed location. They will be produced in a court later in the day.

The arrests have created a political storm in the state with the TRS alleging conspiracy by BJP to destabilise the government.

The BJP, however, has denied the allegations and dared the TRS government to order a probe by CBI or a sitting judge of the Supreme Court.

Union minister G. Kishan Reddy has alleged that CM KCR scripted the poaching drama to malign BJP and demanded that the police reveal details like the amount of cash seized from three persons arrested in the case.

Dismissing the allegations that BJP tried to lure four TRS MLAs with huge sums of money, important positions and contracts, he said BJP would have gained nothing by making four MLAs defect to the party.

He wondered why the police were not revealing how much money was seized and where it came from.

Kishan Reddy dismisses allegations that BJP tried to lure four TRS MLAs

0

Union Minister for Tourism and Culture G. Kishan Reddy on Thursday alleged that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) scripted poaching drama to malign BJP, and demanded that the police reveal details like the amount of cash seized from three persons arrested in the case.

Dismissing the allegations that BJP tried to lure four TRS MLAs with huge sums of money, important positions and contracts, he said BJP would have gained nothing by making four MLAs to defect to the party.

He wondered why the police were not revealing how much money was seized and where it came from.

Addressing a news conference, the minister denied any links with the accused in the case.

Cyberabad Police on Wednesday arrested three persons from a farmhouse at Moinabad near Hyderabad when they were allegedly trying to lure four TRS MLAs to make them defect to BJP.

On a complaint by one of the MLAs, Pilot Rohit Reddy, police registered a case against Ramachandra Bharati alias Satish Sharma of Delhi, Nanda Kumar of Hyderabad and Simhayaji Swamy of Tirupati.

TRS leaders have alleged that Nanda Kumar is close to Kishan Reddy.

The Union Minister said the police should reveal details if the money belonged to TRS MLAs or it came from Chief Minister KCR’s farmhouse.

He said if KCR was sincere, he should order a probe into the case by sitting judge of the Supreme Court or by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Launching a counter attack on TRS, the BJP ladder said it was TRS which promoted defections. “Has TRS not lured many MLAs and MPs to join its ranks. How much the party paid to 12 MLAs of Congress who joined TRS in the past,” he asked.

He alleged that TRS was resorting to the drama due to fear of losing Munugode by-election. He claimed that BJP enjoyed people’s support and that TRS will not win the November 3 by-election even if it spends thousands of crores.

He alleged that TRS leader KTR telephoned a BJP leader of Munugode to lure him to join TRS.

Kishan Reddy said the TRS played same tactics in Dubbak by-election but BJP emerged victorious. He was confident that the same result will be repeated in Munugode.

T’gana poaching drama: Three booked for bribery, criminal conspiracy

0

Cyberabad police have registered a case against three men arrested from a farmhouse near Hyderabad while trying to lure four MLAs of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) with offers of huge sums of cash, important positions and contracts.

The arrests were made on Wednesday.

On a complaint by one of the MLAs Pilot Rohit Reddy, police registered an FIR against Ramachandra Bharati alias Satish Sharma of Delhi, Nanda Kumar of Hyderabad and Simhayaji Swamy of Tirupati.

The case has been registered under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 120 B (criminal conspiracy), 171-B (bribery) read with 171-E (punishment of bribery), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) read with 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) and section 8 of Prevention of Corruption Act.

According to the complainant, Ramachandra Bharati and Nanda Kumar belonging to the BJP met him and negotiated with him not to contest as candidate from the TRS and to join BJP by resigning from the TRS and to contest in the next elections from the BJP for which they offered him an amount of Rs 100 crore. They also offered to give central government civil contract works and other high central government positions for monetary benefits and lured him to join the BJP.

The MLA told police that they stated that if he does not join the BJP, there will be criminal cases and raids by ED/CBI and the Telangana government led by TRS will be toppled by them. Since the inducement of bribe of a political party is unethical, undemocratic and encourages corruption and polluting the politics, he decided not to entertain such unethical practice by the above persons, says the FIR.

On October 26, the two accused again contacted Rohit Reddy and informed him that they are coming to his farm house at Aziz Nagar, Moinabad in the afternoon for negotiations. They also asked him to mobilise some other TRS MLAs for offering them bribes of Rs 50 crore each to join the BJP. They also further induced him and other MLAs to receive amounts and to discharge their public duties improperly and dishonestly so that the TRS government is destabilised. They informed that three persons — Ramachandra Bharati, Nanda Kumar and Simhayaji Swamy — would come to the farmhouse to finalise the deal of joining the BJP by resigning from the TRS.

On a tip-off by Rohit Reddy, Cyberabad police reached the farmhouse and arrested the three accused.

The trio were being questioned by the police at an undisclosed location. They will be produced in a court later in the day.

Poaching drama triggers TRS-BJP slugfest

1

The poaching drama that unfolded in Hyderabad on Wednesday night has triggered a slugfest between the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

After three persons, including two godmen, were detained from a farmhouse near Hyderabad while trying to lure four MLAs of TRS with offers of huge sums of cash, important positions and contracts, the TRS accused BJP of trying to destabilise the state government and called it an attack on self-respect of Telangana.

As word spread about a police raid on the farm house and those detained being close to the BJP leaders, TRS leaders, including ministers took to streets in different parts of the state to stage a protest against the saffron party. They staged a road blockade and raised slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Those detained at the farmhouse are Ramachandra Bharati alias S. Satish Sharma from Delhi and Simhayajulu from Tirupati, both godmen and Nanda Kumar, a businessman from Hyderabad said to be close to a Union minister.

The TRS leaders alleged that the BJP was trying to topple the government in Telangana just as it did in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and other states by luring the MLAs with cash, important positions and contracts.

The ruling party alleged that each MLA was offered a deal to the tune of Rs 100 crore. Some of the TRS leaders posted on Twitter photographs of the accused with top BJP leaders, including Union ministers Rajnath Singh, G. Kishan Reddy and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The saffron party hit back at TRS for what it calls insulting Hindu dharma by pointing fingers at godmen.

State BJP chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar alleged that the ‘story, screenplay and direction’ at Moinabad farmhouse is by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. “It has boomeranged. TRS are complainants, TRS are victims and TRS are criminals,” he said.

He dared CM KCR to come to Yadadri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple and swear that he has not ‘scripted this story’.

He slammed KCR for dragging priests into the episode and alleged that he was attempting to taint the image of Hindu dharma.

He demanded that the CCTV footage of a hotel should be released where TRS MLAs were staying for the last 3-4 days. He also demanded that CCTV footage of Pragati Bhavan, the official residence of the chief minister, should be released as the MLAs had been going there every day.

The BJP leader also wanted to know why the police did not record the statements of the MLAs. “Why weren’t they taken to the police station but left to Pragati Bhavan. What were MLAs gunmen doing,” he asked.

3 caught for trying to ‘buy’ TRS MLAs in Hyderabad

1

In a dramatic development, the police in Hyderabad on Wednesday claimed to have caught three persons while they were trying to ‘buy’ four MLAs of Telangana’s ruling TRS party.

The four were detained during a raid at a farm house at Aziz Nagar on the city outskirts while offering money to four MLAs.

Cyberabad police conducted the raids on a tip-off by the legislators. One of those detained is from Delhi while two others were from Tirupati and Hyderabad.

The police reportedly seized Rs 15 crore so far. Cyberabad Police Commissioner Stephen Ravindra said the deal could be to the tune of Rs 100 crore.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLAs Rega Kantha Rao, Guvvala Balaraju, Beeram Harshvardhan Reddy and Pilot Rohit Reddy had alerted police that attempts were being made to lure them to switch loyalties.

The Commissioner said the MLAs alleged that some BJP leaders were trying to lure them to defect from the TRS by offering prominent posts, contracts and huge cash.

Those detained are Ramachandra Bharati a.k.a S. Satish Sharma from Delhi and Simhayajulu from Tirupati, both said to be temple priests and Nanda Kumar, a businessman from Hyderabad said to be close to a union minister.

Police officials said further investigations were on in the case.

The TRS has alleged that the BJP is trying to lure its MLAs to defect. It said those detained by the police were close to BJP leaders.

TRS leader Krishank Manne posted on his Twitter account photographs of the accused with union ministers Rajnath Singh, G. Kishan Reddy and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

“This is a conspiracy against KCR ji’s Government by BJP’s big leaders,” he tweeted.

Another TRS leader termed the accused three agents of union home minister Amit Shah.

TRS MLA Balka Suman alleged that the BJP was resorting to cheap tactics due to fear of defeat in the Munugode Assembly by-election. He claimed that the TRS MLAs foiled the conspiracy of BJP.

“The BJP leaders should know that the TRS MLAs and Telangana people are not for sale,” he said.

However, BJP leaders denied the allegations. Party national vice-president D. K. Aruna said that those named by the police were not BJP leaders. She alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was doing a new drama for political mileage. She said people would not believe KCR’s story.

Sharmila questions BJP’s inaction over corruption in Kaleshwaram project

0

YSR Telangana Party (YSRTP) president Y. S. Sharmila on Saturday questioned the BJP’s inaction on the corruption in Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP).

She questioned the BJP for not taking any action despite being in power at the Centre.

She slammed opposition BJP and Congress for their silence on the issue. She said both state Congress president A. Revanth Reddy and state BJP president Bandi Sanjay seemed to be dancing to the tunes of the ‘contractor’, who is the sole beneficiary of all projects in Telangana.

“I dare these two parties to prove their honesty in fighting Kaleshwaram corruption, which is no more a state-level scam, but a national issue, because one lakh crores of rupees were disbursed as loans by central funding agencies. What is the BJP government doing in the Centre? While they make statements against KCR’s corruption, they conveniently stay frozen in initiating any action or inquiry. They are authorised to, but they won’t. What is stopping them? Why is only YSRTP fighting on this?,” she asked.

Sharmila, who has already lodged a complaint with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), vowed to continue her party’s fight until her objective for a thorough investigation into the corruption is achieved and those who have robbed the state’s exchequer to the tune of one lakh crore rupees were brought to justice.

Sharmila, who also complained to the Comptroller and Auditor General on Friday in Delhi, was addressing a press conference in Hyderabad on Saturday. She explained how the Kaleshwaram project was possibly India’s biggest scam and elaborated on the need to probe into the involvement of Chief Minister KCR and his family in this scam.

“After knocking the CBI doors recently, we did not relent and yesterday we met the CAG, who patiently heard all aspects of our complaint and agreed that his office will look into all the aspects of Kaleshwaram project, the malpractices, embezzlement of funds and favouritism of the ruling party that benefited single contractor,” she said.

She claimed that CAG assured that a team of experts along with IITians would conduct a detailed study on the project.

“The CAG has assured us that the irregularities in the Kaleshwaram project must be audited, and he would certainly look into the issue. I am confident that the concerned authorities will look into the corruption committed by KCR and his family and will hold them accountable,” she said.

“The corruption in Kaleshwaram has crossed more than one lakh crore of rupees and KCR has looted the exchequer, putting all of us in disgust and letting down the state with his unprecedented greed. This is not notional money and the money has already been spent as KCR deemed the project complete. So, the money crossed hands and has been looted. The corrupt and the culprits must be punished,” she added.

It may be recalled that YSRTP has resolved to wage a long-drawn battle against the Kaleshwaram project corruption, where the project cost was hiked to Rs 1.20 lakh crore, from around Rs 40,000 crore. The party says several allegations pointed to the falsification of figures, inflation of estimates while purchasing motors, and not at all heeding experts’ advice and warnings at any stage of the project.

Jolt to BJP in Telangana, Dasoju Sravan quits

0

In a jolt to the BJP in Telangana, senior leader Dasoju Sravan on Friday quit the party in protest against the distribution of money, meat and liquor among voters in Munugode Assembly constituency.

His resignation came less than three months after he quit the Congress party and joined the saffron party.

Sravan, a former national spokesman of Congress party, is likely to join Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) later in the day.

In a letter to BJP’s Telangana unit president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Sravan conveyed his decision to resign from primary membership of the party. He alleged that the BJP is distributing money, meat and liquor among voters in Munugode Assembly constituency, where by-election is scheduled on November 3.

Sravan wrote that he had joined the BJP with the least expectations but was disappointed over the directionless politics pursued by the party. He said BJP promised to do alternative politics but its approach in the Munugode by-election was disgusting.

He alleged that BJP with no social responsibility was resorting to distribution of money bags, encouraging big contractors and pursuing investment politics. “In such a situation it has become evident that there is no room for a leader like me coming from a weaker section of the society,” he said.

It was on August 5 that Sravan had resigned from the Congress party. Alleging that there is total disorder in the party under the leadership of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president A. Revanth Reddy, he had said that he was not ready to live like a slave in the organisation and hence decided to resign.

He recalled that he joined the Congress party in 2014 as out of gratitude to Sonia Gandhi for carving out Telangana state and after being impressed by Rahul Gandhi’s speech at Jaipur chintan shivir.

Sravan said he strived hard to reach the position of party’s national spokesperson. He alleged that after Revant Reddy became PCC president, the party started giving priority to leaders on the basis of caste and money power.

He later joined the BJP at a programme in New Delhi in the presence of BJP general secretary in-charge of Telangana Tarun Chugh. He had claimed that only BJP can provide an alternative to the TRS.

‘BJP leadership to decide on roadmap sought by Pawan Kalyan’

1

The BJP’s Andhra Pradesh unit president Somu Veerraju on Thursday said that the party’s central leadership will take a decision on the roadmap sought by Jana Sena Party (JSP) leader and actor Pawan Kalyan.

Pawan Kalyan, an ally of the BJP, had said that he was waiting for a roadmap from the BJP to overthrow the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government in the state.

Veerraju noted that the actor-politician has good relations with the party’s top leaders, adding that both the BJP and JSP would work together and move forward.

“I have apprised the central leadership of the BJP about the developments in Andhra Pradesh,” he said.

His comments came after reports about Pawan Kalyan’s apprehension of a gap in the JSP-BJP alliance.

Lending further credence to this, BJP national executive member Kanna Lakshminarayana said on Wednesday that the relationship has not been going on well for quite some time and blamed Veerraju for this situation.

When asked about Kanna’s statements, Veerraju merely remarked that he is a senior leader and said he would speak as much as he is supposed to speak as state BJP president.

In March this year, Pawan Kalyan had stated that he was waiting for a roadmap from BJP.

He is reportedly unhappy over the delay in the saffron party giving a roadmap and is believed to be planning his own strategy to take on the ruling party.

It was in this context that TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu’s meeting with the actor assumed significance.

Naidu called on Pawan Kalyan at a hotel in Vijayawada on Tuesday to show solidarity with him after he was barred from addressing meetings or rallies in Visakhapatnam following attack on vehicles of ministers and other leaders of YSRCP government by a mob at the Visakhapatnam Airport.

Veerraju welcomed the meeting between Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan. He found fault with the hurdles created for JSP leader’s ‘Janavani’ programme in Visakhapatnam.

The BJP leader also alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy government is publicizing schemes of the Centrre as its own. He said he had brought this to the notice of the Centre.

Veerraju also condemned the attack by YSRCP men on Amaravati farmers during Maha Padyatra in Rajamahendravaram.

“BJP has a very clear stand that in a democracy there is no room for physical attacks,” he said.

Former TRS MP Narsiah Goud joins BJP

0

Four days after resigning from the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), former MP B. Narsaiah Goud on Wednesday joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Goud formally joined the BJP in the presence of senior party leaders at BJP’s headquarters in New Delhi.

Union Labour and Employment Minister Bhupender Yadav and BJP General Secretary and incharge for Telangana, Tarun Chug welcomed the former MP into the party. Union Tourism and Culture Minister G. Kishan Reddy and Telangana BJP President Bandi Sanjay Kumar were also present.

Some other TRS leaders also joined the BJP along with Goud. The former MP from Bhongir said he would continue to work for the development of the state and for the welfare of its people. He claimed that he ensured many development works in Bhongir constituency.

Goud told reporters that he has dedicated his life for the development of the country and the state.

He had resigned from TRS on October 19, dealing a blow to the party ahead of the November 3 polling for the Munugode Assembly byelection.

Goud had a meeting with the BJP leaders in New Delhi before making up his mind to switch over. He was an aspirant for the TRS ticket in the byelection. Interestingly, he participated in the nomination filing of TRS candidate Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy on October 13.

Associated with the TRS from the days of the statehood movement after 2009, Goud was in-charge of the party affairs in Bhongir parliamentary constituency. Munugode is one of the Assembly segments under Bhongir constituency.

Goud was among few TRS leaders who were aspiring from Munugode but the leadership fielded Prabhakar Reddy, who won the seat in 2014, and lost it in 2018.

Goud’s joining the BJP is likely to give boost to the BJP’s efforts to garner votes of Goud community, to which he belongs.

In his resignation letter to TRS President and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, he said he had been facing insults within the party, including denial of any opportunity even to represent problems of people as also general issues harming the party.

Goud also recalled that he left his practice as a doctor to take part in the statehood movement under the leadership of Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) of which the TRS was a major partner.

He wrote that as Bhongir MP, he spared all his energies to get sanctioned AIIMS, a Kendriya Vidyalaya, several National Highways and other development works.

He blamed bickering in the party and an election symbol similar to that of the TRS for his defeat by a slender margin in the 2019 Parliament elections.

BJP’s Munugode candidate alleges Rs 18L crore land scam By TRS govt

1

Facing allegations of switching loyalties to the BJP after bagging Rs 18,000 crore contract from the Centre, party candidate in Munugode by-election Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy has hit back at Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and his family.

Rajagopal Reddy has alleged that CM KCR’s family has encroached lands worth Rs 18 lakh crore around Hyderabad by bringing Dharani portal.

Rajagopal Reddy, who has already filed nomination for November 3 by-election, claimed that it is the biggest land scam in the country. He demanded that the Telangana government issue a white paper on Dharani portal.

The state government had launched Dharani portal in 2020 for online registration of properties in Telangana. The portal is billed as a one-stop source for all revenue records.

Rajagopal Reddy’s counter allegation came after Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) launched a bitter attack on him for resigning from the Congress party and joining the BJP after his company was awarded Rs 18,000 crore by the BJP-led government at the Centre.

Rajagopal Reddy had quit the Congress and resigned from the Assembly in July. He subsequently joined the BJP at a public meeting addressed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Munugode constituency.

Both TRS and Congress have been slamming him for what they call “selling himself” to the BJP and imposing a by-election on the people of Munugode for the sake of contract.

Posters have appeared in the constituency targeting Rajagopal Reddy over the contract. The rival parties also alleged that he has assured the BJP that he would spend Rs 500 crore to win the bypoll.

The TRS has also offered to withdraw from the contest if the BJP announces Rs 18,000 crore for the development of Nalgonda district. TRS working president K.T. Rama Rao said that since winning a seat makes no difference to the TRS, which has 105 seats in 119-Assembly seat, it was ready to pull out its candidate from the contest if the BJP announced the package for the development of Nalgonda.

Rama Rao said the BJP government ignored the recommendation of Niti Aayog to provide Rs 19,000 crore for Mission Bhagiratha to overcome the problem of fluorosis, but it gave Rs 18,000 crore to one person for political gain.

He took to Twitter again on Wednesday to make the offer that TRS is ready to withdraw from the contest if the Modi government declares a Rs 18,000 crore package for Nalgonda.

KTR wrote that if one person makes one the wealthiest people in the world, it does not add to the country’s wealth and that if one person is awarded the contract, it does no good to a district.

He said the Modi government gave Rs 80,000 crore package to Gujarat in the last five years. “Can’t you give Rs 18,000 crore to Telangana,” he asked.

TRS displays wrong map, says BJP MP

1

Wrong map of India on a hoarding by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has sparked a row with a Telangana BJP MP terming it an insult to the Constitution.

Arvind Dharmapuri, a member of Lok Sabha from the Nizamabad constituency, alleged that Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has shown the wrong map of India. He termed this as an insult to the Constitution and integrity of India.

TRS recently changed its name to BRS to expand the party nation-wide.

The MP posted on Twitter a picture of the hoarding put up at Somajiguda in Hyderabad.

The hoarding with India’s map and a picture of Telangana Chief Minister and TRS leader K. Chandrasekhar Rao was put up by some local leaders of TRS.

Dharmapuri pointed out that Article 1 of The Constitution of India, defined the territory of India. According to the Article, entire Jammu & Kashmir is part of India.

The BJP MP alleged that by removing Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) from the Indian map, KCR is supporting Pakistan. He wrote that this map is promoted and supported by Pakistan.

“Is KCR following the legacy of Nizam who wanted to merge erstwhile Hyderabad State with Pakistan? Is this the motive behind launching the national party,” asked Dharampuri.

Earlier, BJP supporter Sagar Goud posted the picture of hoarding along with his tweet tagging the Hyderabad Police. He demanded booking of a case.

BJP candidate in Munugode by-poll dares KCR to contest

1

Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, the BJP’s candidate in Telangana’s Munugode Assembly constituency, on Monday filed his nomination and dared Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and his son K.T. Rama Rao to contest against him.

Rajagopal Reddy reached the office of returning officer in Chandur in a huge rally of his supporters and submitted his nomination papers.

Hundreds of BJP workers holding party flags participated in the huge rally. The saffron party turned the occasion into a massive show of strength.

Rajagopal Reddy was accompanied by BJP general secretary incharge of party affairs in Telangana Tarun Chug, Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy, BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, party MLAs Eatala Rajender, Raghunandan Rao and others.

Addressing the rally after filing nomination, Rajagopal Reddy changed KCR or KTR, as the two are popularly known, to contest the by-election against him.

He alleged that the chief minister looted the wealth of Telangana people and said BJP would send him to jail.

The by-election is scheduled to be held on November 3. The vacancy arose after sitting MLA Rajagopal Reddy resigned from the Assembly and also Congress party to join BJP.

He joined the BJP at a public meeting in Munugode on August 21, which was addressed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The constituency is set to see a three-cornered contest among ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and opposition BJP and Congress.

The TRS has named Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy as its candidate while Congress party has fielded Palvai Sravanti.

All the three major contestants have exuded confidence of a win in the by-election, considered significant ahead of the next year’s Assembly elections.

The TRS had on Sunday demanded disqualification of Rajagopal Reddy following his statement that his company received Rs 18,000 contract from the Central government.

A delegation of TRS leaders called on State Chief Electoral Officer Vikas Raj and submitted a representation, demanding disqualification of Rajagopal Reddy for the by-election.

The delegation brought to the notice of the CEO that Rajagopal Reddy revealed in an interview to a television channel that he joined the BJP after his company received the contract.

In 2018 elections, Rajagopal Reddy had won the seat on Congress party ticket. He had defeated Kusukuntla Prabhakar Reddy of TRS by 23,552 votes.

Rajagopal Reddy had polled 99,239A while Prabhakar Reddy had garnered 61,687 votes. BJP’s G. Manohar Reddy was a distant third with 12,725 votes.

Munugode, a traditional stronghold of Congress and the Communist Party of India (CPI), was wrested from CPI by the TRS in 2014. Prabhakar Reddy was then elected as the TRS candidate.

This time, both the CPI and CPI-M have declared their support to TRS. The Left parties said they took the decision to defeat BJP.

BJP slams KCR on launching BRS for national politics

1

The BJP leadership had slammed Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for renaming his party as Bharat Rastra Samithi to play a role in the national politics. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman said that KCR had drowned the Telangana state in debts.

She said that KCR had launched TRS for separate Telangana state and now was running away from Telangana in the name of national politics. She wondered what KCR would do for the nation when he could not do anything for Telangana State.

She alleged that KCR had put Rs 3 lakh crore debt burden on the people of Telangana in the last eight years. She criticised KCR for not giving representation to women in his cabinet between 2014 and 2018.

He said that KCR was not attending the review meetings with the officials to develop the state. BJP Andhra Pradesh unit president Somu Veerraju said that KCR had no right to speak about national politics. He said that KCR’s politics have been against Andhra Pradesh and wondered how he would enter the state.

KTR’s fun tweet at BJP irks its leaders

0

Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader and minister for IT, K Taraka Ramarao, popularly known as KTR, had made fun of the opposition BJP in Telangana on Sunday. The TRS ministers took the BJP to task in his twitter handle and advised the national party to change its name.

KTR reacted to the predictions of BJP national general secretary Sunil Bansal on the election schedule for the Munugodu Assembly constituency in Telangana. Bansal told the BJP leaders core committee meeting in Hyderabad that the schedule for the by-election is expected before October 15.

Bansal had asked the rank and file of the BJP to get ready for the big fight with the ruling TRS at Munugodu. He wanted the party leaders to win the seat and maintained that BJP’s victory would be a fitting lesson to the TRS and the Congress as well.

KTR reacted to the statement and wondered how the BJP leaders could predict what the Election Commission of India is planning for Munugodu. He also wondered how the BJP leaders could predict the working of the Election Commission.

“Before “EC” BJP announces the poll dates! Before “ED” BJP announces the names! Before “NIA” BJP announces the Ban! Before “IT” BJP announces the amount! Before “CBI” BJP announces the accused!” KTR tweeted in his twitter handle.

The Telangana minister further suggested saying, “Appropriately BJP should rename itself as; “BJ…EC-CBI-NIA-IT-ED…P”

KTR’s tweet attracted criticism from the BJP leaders who advised the TRS minister to set his house in order, before making fun of other parties. The BJP leaders have also dared KTR to face them in the Munugodu by-election and see how people are going to make fun of the TRS leaders in the campaign.

It is to be seen how both the TRS and the BJP leaders are set to carry forward the election campaign in Munugodu once the EC releases the schedule for the by-election.
