Media Watch: Andhra Jyothi and CBN’s quid pro quo.

0

Quid pro quo is a Latin phrase which means “this for that” or “a favour for a favour”. Most of the Telugu readers know this term and its meaning as it is extensively used by Telugu dailies during YS Jagan’s Dis-proportioned Assets case. Ironically, some of the media bigwigs who used this term extensively for others are now seem to be doing the same if the reports are to be believed.

Radha Krishna, editor of ABN Andhra Jyothi seems to be having quid pro quo arrangement with AP CM Chandra Babu Naidu. His media seems to be getting around 65 lakhs for OB Van live business per month. OB van, as it is called, is Outside broadcasting Van used for giving live streaming services. AP government is paying this astronomical amount to ABN Andhra Jyothi channel for using OB van services provided by them, In addition, as per reports, this daily is receiving around 50 lakh rupees on government ads every month. Other channels are getting nothing from AP Govt. Generally these sarkari ads have to be given based on TRP’s of the channels. But in AP, top 3 channels are getting zero ads while ABN which is not in top 3 list is getting all the ads. Of course, this is not the first time it is happening. When Rajashekar Reddy was CM, he did the same by giving ads for Sakshi without giving to leading dailies like Eenadu. At that time, Chandra Babu Naidu raised hue and cry. But same story is repeating now, though in a reverse direction. There have also been other rumors that CBN is doing many other favors to Andhra Jyothi in the last 2-3 years which including allocating some prime lands in Vizag.

But at this moment, these are all circulating widely as gossips and truth will come out only if someone proves it or RK denies it.

0

Call Money: End of Jagan’s Fight for Special Status ?

0

As the issue of special status to Andhra Pradesh ran out of steam, Call Money has become cause célèbre for Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy. The first day of the winter session today had successfully been exploited by YSR party. This issue had been used to attack chief minister Naidu in every conceivable way. Unlike, special status issue, where Naidu could at best be criticized for not putting enough pressure on centre for getting special status, Call Money racket has all the elements of a masala movie to make a villain out of Naidu. Simple Call Money is not an effective weapon to hit at the CM. Because, lending money at exorbitant rate of interest is not new in any part of the country. The private money lenders had already been blamed for the suicides of farmers long back. The element of sex racket has made the call money all the more powerful. Jagan is in a hurry to do as much damage to his bête noire as possible before the links of other political leaders with call money connections are exposed. Because, police records say no party is free from call money taint.

But, today Jagan attacked chief minister Naidu with choicest epithets to show him as the man responsible for the whole racket. Addressing media, after the adjournment of Assembly for the day, the Opposition Leader Jaganmohan Reddy called Chandrababu Naidu ” Call Babu, Money Babu and Sex Racket Babu. He said today’s Assembly looked worse than the Kaurava Sabha and Dusshasana Sabha. He alleged that the Call Money cum Sex Racket had the direct blessings of chief minister Chandrababu Naidu. He said his party had in its possession photographs of Chandrababu Naidu with the accused of the Call Money racket. He displayed some photographs for the benefit of media. He alleged that Ambedkar reference was taken only to distract the people’s attention from the real issue.

Even though many TDP MLAs and MLCs had their fingers in the racket, Naidu had no courage to touch upon them, he alleged. ” Naidu is leaving no stone unturned to divert the people’s attention away from the sex racket. He has no right to continue in power even for a day,” he said and added that his party MLAs Sivaprasada Reddy and Ramalingeswar Rao had been suspended simply because they questioned Naidu’s role in the call money racket. Jagan even alleged that Chandrababu Naidu was getting benefited from land , sand and sex mafia to show that the issue is of much more important than the special status to AP.

In the meantime, the special status issue has got reduced to a small dharna near Gandhi statue in Parliament House by YSRC MPs today.

After winning the two wards in Andaman and Nicobar Islands, the party is planning to spread it’s wings in Telugu areas of neighboring states like Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. Now the appointment of Kalavenkatrao has come handy for the party as he hails from North Coastal Andhra. He has good contacts with Telugu areas of Odisha state.

Party leaders from North Coastal Andhra are suggesting TDP national president and chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu to think of entering Odisha. Over 30 lakh Telugu-speaking people live in areas such as Chatrapur, Berhampur, Parlakhemundi, Rayagada, Nabarangpur and Jeypore in Odisha. He said TDP Andhra Pradesh state committee president Kala Venkata Rao had contacts with several public representatives in Odisha and his influence can be used for the benefit of the party. TDP said the party happens to be strong in Srikakulam district with the support of settlers from Odisha this would work in the Telugu areas of Odisha in favor of Telugu Desam party. “TDP will have a national outlook if it has the presence in Odisha, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andaman and Nicobar,” state vice-president PV Ramana and general secretary Sriakkulam Boina Govinda Rajulu said.

CM Naidu’s new spiritual concept for temple services

0

Andhra Pradesh government will develop all temple-towns in the state around the concept of ‘Annadanam, Vidyadanam and Pranadanam. This was the outcome of the meeting the chief minister Naidu had with the officials of endowments department. “Annadanam should be mandatory in every temple. No person in the temple surroundings should go hungry. We should be able to feed every person in the vicinity. Simultaneously, hygiene and sanitation should be maintained along with beautification and landscaping,” Naidu instructed the officials. From now onwards, in Andhra Pradesh, Annadanam, Vidyadanam and Pranadanam will become part of the temple activity.

Naidu, who has become spiritual and religious in recent past, is giving emphasis on the connection between spirituality and well being. ” If wellness and spirituality or positive attitude increases among people, it will bring down health issues. This will eventually bring down healthcare spending by people,” was the bottom line of his spirituality. On protecting the temple lands in the state, Naidu asked the officials to come up with innovative ways of developing parks and sports facilities in these areas, so that they are socially protected. “Temple should become part of people’s lives. On the occasions of birth, marriage and death, temples priests should take initiative to visit the houses of those and perform rituals,” he said.

Elaborating on the temple priests social services, the CM said, “If a baby is born, the priest from that village can visit their house and bless them. Similar practice can be followed for marriages. In case of death, they can perform the shuddhi puja and other rituals. This practice of connecting with people will bring goodwill,” he added. He also suggested to have a call centre and control room to monitor all the temples and their daily activities regularly.

His critics, however, argue that the growing religiosity or soft Hindutva of Naidu is result of his association with Prime Minister Modi, and his anxiety to impress him. His performing of Bhumi Puja for the Amaravathi capital city like King Janaka according to Hindu tradition attracted criticism from secular scholars.

“It’s worse than Kaurava Sabha”

0

YSRC president and Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy deplored that today’s Assembly looked worse than the Kaurava Sabha. ” I have not seen the Kaurava Sabha. But, today’s Assembly appears worse that the Kaurava Sabha,” he said.

Referring to the special status statement the chief minister Chandrababu Naidu made onthe floor of the House, Jagan said he was ready to resign from the House if anybody tells what Naidu talked looked like a statement.

He said today he exposed a political conspiracy in the Assembly.

” There was an attempt to ensure that only one version that is the version of chief minister alone goes out. My microphone connection had been cut several times. And chair allows only the CM to speak on the condolence motion. The chief minister speaks for 20 minutes and chair doesn’t give chance to opposition leader to speak,” Jagan said.

He dared the chief minister to reveal his stand on special status.” People want to know if the Chandrababu Naidu is for special status or not,” Jagan asked.
