Puri and Charmme questioned about Foreign Funds

Sensational director Puri Jagannadh has been facing the heat of Liger and he was badly criticized after the film’s release. He was back in news recently after the distributors threatened him. His voice tape went viral in no time and Puri even issued an official statement about the same. The top director is now drilled by the investigation agency Enforcement Directorate. Puri and Charmme were questioned for 11 hours in Hyderabad yesterday and they are asked to be available for the investigation. The questioning went around the foreign funds and the investments made in the film.

American boxer Mike Tyson was paid a bomb for the film and the officials questioned about how Puri managed to pool international funds and he was questioned about the transactions. For now, Puri is yet to repay to his buyers and the officials are even investigating about the recent transactions of Puri Jagannadh and Charmme. There are strong speculations that Puri received investments from politicians. The investigation in this case will take some more time and no conclusions are made. The lead actor Vijay Deverakonda who was promised profits in the film was not paid much after the release of Liger.

Charmme responds to the Rumors on Janaganamana

After Liger ended up as a massive dud, there are lot of ongoing rumors about the next collaboration of Vijay Deverakonda and Puri Jagannadh titled Janaganamana. Charmme, the co-producer of Liger said that she would take a break from social media for a while and will return back soon. From the past two days, there are speculations that a big amount was wasted on Janaganamana already and the makers decided to lose the amount and shelved the film.

Charmme is back on social media and she responded about the rumors. “Rumours rumours rumours! All rumours are fake! Just focusing on the progress of 𝐏𝐂. Meanwhile, RIP rumours !!” posted Charmme. She is super confident on the comeback of Puri Jagannadh. For now, Vijay Deverakonda is focused on the shoot of Kushi. Puri will compensate the losses of Liger and he would return back to work soon.

Actress Charmme Kaur grilled by SIT in drug case

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Telangana’s Excise Department probing the Hyderabad drug racket on Wednesday questioned actress Charmme Kaur.

The questioning began at 10 a.m. and continued till afternoon at Abkari Bhavan, the office of Prohibition and Excise Department.

A four-member team of women officers led by Assistant Excise Inspector Anita questioned the actress on her alleged links with Calvin Mascrenhas, the kingpin of the racket. She was also asked whether she takes drugs.

Earlier, accompanied by her lawyer and bouncers, Charmme reached the office and greeted a big contingent of photographers and videographers.

She went from the sets of “Paisa Vasool”, a movie being directed by Puri Jagannadh who was questioned in the case last week.

On a petition by the actress, the Hyderabad High Court had directed that she should be questioned by women officers between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The court also asked the SIT not to collect Charmme’s blood, hair and nail samples without her consent. It, however, rejected her plea to allow the presence of her lawyer during the questioning.

The officials hope to gather significant clues from Charmme, who was allegedly in touch with Calvin after the latter was introduced to her by Puri.

She is the seventh celebrity from Telugu film industry to appear before the SIT.

Charmme is one of the 12 personalities from Tollywood summoned by the SIT for questioning in the drug racket which was busted here this month.

The SIT has questioned six celebrities including actors Tarun and Navdeep and director Puri Jagannadh.

They were summoned after the SIT found their contact details in the call data of Calvin Mascrenhas.

Actress Mumaith Khan and actor Ravi Teja are among the others to be questioned this week.

The SIT has arrested 19 accused in the racket, which created a sensation following startling revelation that the peddlers sold drugs to students of several colleges and schools in Hyderabad, Tollywood celebrities and techies.

The case took a new turn on Monday when the SIT arrested the manager of leading actress Kajal Aggarwal.

Puttkar Ronson Joseph alias Ronnie was arrested from his house here.

Narcotic substances were recovered from his possession. The actress expressed shock over the involvement of her manager in the illegal activity.

The authorities have recovered 3,000 units of LSD, 105 grams of MDMA, 45 grams of cocaine and other narcotic and psychotropic substance from all the accused arrested so far.

SIT continues questioning Tollywood artists in drug case

Telangana’s Prohibition and Excise authorities on Tuesday continued questioning of Telugu film industry personalities in connection with the Hyderabad drug racket case.

On Tuesday, art director Dharma Rao appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the racket.

SIT officials began questioning him at around 10.30 a.m., at Abkari Bhavan, the office of Prohibition and Excise Department.

Chinna is the sixth artist from Tollywood to be questioned in the case.

SIT officials on Monday grilled actor P. Navdeep for over 11 hours.

The investigating team has summoned 12 celebrities for questioning as their contact numbers were found in the call data of Calvin Mascrenhas, the kingpin of the racket.

Actors Tarun and Subbaraju, director Puri Jagannadh and cinematographer Shyam K. Naidu were interrogated last week.

Actors Ravi Teja and Nandu, actresses Charmme Kaur and Mumaith Khan are among the other celebrities who will be questioned this week.

Charmme Kaur’s petition seeking direction to SIT not to compel her to give samples of body fluids, hair and nails is scheduled to come up for hearing in Hyderabad High Court later in the day.

Enforcement, Prohibition and Excise Director Akun Sabharwal on Monday clarified that the SIT is collecting the samples only with the written consent of the persons questioned.

The SIT has so far registered seven cases and arrested 19 accused. It has questioned a total of 28 people.

Charmme moves to High Court against SIT

Actress Charmme is one among the Tollywood celebrities who have been issued notices by the Special Investigation Team in relation with drug consumption. While celebrities like Puri Jagannadh, Subbaraju, Tarun and Navdeep attended the investigation and got drilled, Charmme approached the High Court and filed a petition against Special Investigation Team. She mentioned that she is not comfortable with the way the investigation is being done.

Her lawyer filed a petition referring Article 20 and sub clause 3 that it is against the law to collect the blood samples if the accused is not willing. The petition will be heard today and Charmme has been asked to attend before SIT on Wednesday. Charmme also requested the court to allow her lawyer to accompany her before SIT during the investigation.
