Dil Raju puts new Releases on Hold

Popular producer Dil Raju who delivered several super hits has been in a struggling phase. He was super confident on Family Star featuring Vijay Deverakonda in the lead role and the film has been declared as a disaster. Dil Raju had plans to release Love Me in the last week of April and a film featuring Suhas in the last week of May. The promotional plans have been chalked out. The music album of Love Me scored by MM Keeravani received poor response and there is no buzz surrounding the film. Dil Raju decided to put the next two releases on hold for now.

After Family Star turned out to be an outright disaster, Dil Raju decided to push the upcoming films for now. The new release dates of Love Me and Suhas film will be announced soon. Dil Raju also produced a film with Yashwanth Master in the lead role and the film is titled Aakasam Dhaati Vasthava. The film was delayed by a year and the team will announce the new release date of the film soon. For now, Dil Raju decided to push the upcoming releases.

Dil Raju started his career as a film distributor and went on to become one of the top producers of Telugu cinema. 2017 was his best year and his production house Sri Venkateswara Creations delivered six back-to-back hits in a year which never happened for any production house. But things have changed from 2018. His production house produced 16 films in the last six years and F2, Vakeel Saab, Balagam are the successful ones. F3 and Hello Guru Prema Kosame ended up as decent films. Nani’s V had a direct digital release and it bagged mixed reviews. Thank You and Shaakuntalam are biggest flops in the careers of Naga Chaitanya and Samantha respectively.

Films like Srinivasa Kalyanam, Jaanu, Varisu, Shaakuntalam and Family Star carried good expectations but they ended up as flops. Dil Raju also launched his nephew Ashish with Rowdy Boys but the film ended up as a below average fare. Ashish’s second film Selfish is kept on hold due to undisclosed reasons. Dil Raju who has been involved in making and scripting, has delivered back-to-back flops over these six years. Despite huge promotions, Family Star failed to get decent opening numbers and the film fell flat.

Dil Raju has survived big because of his distribution network. He distributed some of the biggest hits in the recent years. But when it comes to producing successful films, Dil Raju is left behind. It’s high time for him to recollect and reinvent himself before delivering more flops. Ram Charan’s Game Changer, Nithiin’s Thammudu and Venkatesh’s untitled film are in the making for now.

Dil Raju planned a big-budget film to be directed by Mohankrishna Indraganti with Vijay Deverakonda but the film got shelved due to undisclosed reasons. It is not clear about the director of the third film of the combo of Vijay Deverakonda and Dil Raju. After the release of Family Star, Vijay Deverakonda will work with Gowtam Tinnanuri and the film is an actioner.

Soon, Shankar approached with a political drama and Dil Raju was extremely impressed. Ram Charan came on board and the film is Game Changer. The project is delayed by years and Dil Raju is in a state of real stress because of the film. Dil Raju who is a clever businessman sold off the entire deals to Zee Studios during the early days of shoot. He thought that the film would be wrapped up as per the plan and he wanted to play safe. But things changed completely after Shankar shifted his focus towards Indian 2.

The interests kept heaping and Game Changer got delayed. Dil Raju wanted to revise the deal of Game Changer but Zee Studios was against it. Zee Studios now sold off the non-theatrical rights for hefty prices and they are pocketing big. The digital rights of South languages are sold for Amazon Prime and Zee Studios holds the Hindi streaming rights. The deals are decent for the music and other deals. Dil Raju with the mounting budget will stare at losses because of Game Changer. He will have to purchase the theatrical rights from Zee Studios as per the prior agreement. The film is expected to release at the end of 2024.
