Assembly speaker accepts TDP MLAs Ganta’s resignation

0

AP Assembly speaker Thammineni Sitaram on Tuesday accepted the resignation of TDP MLA and former minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao. The speaker took the decision as the former minister had sent his resignation letter on February 12, 2021.

Srinivasa Rao also met the speaker in person and requested him to accept the resignation. As the resignation was in the speaker format and the MLA himself had requested the speaker in person, the speaker accepted the resignation.

It may be mentioned here that the state government had also written to the speaker to disqualify the four suspended MLAs and two MLCs for defecting to the party. The ruling YSRCP had sent a letter to the speaker requesting him to disqualify MLAs Anam Ramanarayana Reddy, Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy, Mekapati Chandrasekhar Reddy and Undavalli Sridevi who were suspended from the party.

The party suspended these MLAs for anti-party activities during the Rajya Sabha elections. It was alleged that these four MLAs voted for the TDP candidate, Panchumarthi Anuradha, against the party whip.

As Rajya Sabha elections are due in March this year, the ruling party took the decision to write to the Assembly speaker and the council chairman seeking disqualification of the four MLAs and two MLCs.

Three members, C M Ramesh of BJP, Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy of YSRCP and Kanakamedala Ravindra Kumar of the TDP are scheduled to retire in April this year. Elections to fill these three vacancies are expected to be held sometime in March this year.

The party also requested chairman of Legislative Council, Koyye Moshen Raju, to suspend two MLCs from the council for floor crossing. The party said that MLC, C Ramachandraiaha had joined the opposition TDP, while another MLC C Srinivasa Rao alias Vamsikrishna Yadav, joined the Jana Sena. The ruling YSRCP wanted the council chairman to disqualify the two members for floor crossing.

Everyone in AP has a problem, says TDP MLA

0

TDP MLA and former minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that everyone in the state has one or the other problem. He reacted to Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy launching a new toll-free number in the name of Jaganannaku Chepudam programme.

The former minister said that people are struggling with problems across the state. There is no section of the people which is happy and has no problems.

He took to twitter to tweet against the Chief Minister’s programme and said that people have been looking for redressal for the past four years.

“Who is there in the state without a problem? The employees have a salary problem. The Amaravati farmers have the capital problem. The poor farmers have MSP problems,” the former minister said in his twitter handle.

Ganta Srinivasa Rao, who had been inactive in the party affairs for the past two years became active in the party and the public life as well from the time of the MLC elections. He is now taking active part in the TDP activities in Visakhapatnam, his home place.

The former minister said that the steel plant employees and the people also want the steel plant to be protected and not privatised. He wondered whether Jagan would solve this problem, if it is reported to the toll-free number.

Srinivasa Rao had sent his resignation letter to the Assembly Speaker in protest against steel plant privatisation plans of the Central government. He had also extended support to the steel plant employees and has been closely associated with them.

His latest tweet had hit the government, which is claiming big about the new grievance redressal programme.

Why is Ganta Srinivasa Rao meeting Chiranjeevi?

1

Former minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao is making fast and mercurial political moves. In an unusual move, he is all set to meet Mega Star Chiranjeevi next week. He will discuss contemporary politics with Chiranjeevi. The meeting of Ganta, who is planning to emerge as the voice of Kapus in AP, with Chiranjeevi is considered quite significant.

Ganta has been quite close to Chiranjeevi and was among the founding members of the now-defunct Praja Rajyam Party. He was one of the 18 PRP MLAs who joined the Congress, when Chiru decided to merge his party into the Congress. Later, he became a minister in the Rosaiah and Kiran Kumar Reddy governments. However, his relationship with Chiru continued. In the wake of these, his meeting is being viewed with a lot of interest.

Ganta is currently in the TDP, but has been keeping away from the party activities. He has also skipped the recent meeting called by Chandrababu Naidu at Amaravati. But, he has still kept the door ajar as far as the TDP is concerned. He has not said that he would leave the party. He has also told Chandrababu that he would meet him separately.

Given all this, his proposed meeting with Chiru is being seen as an interesting development. Will he organise the Kapus and does he want to keep Chiru in the loop? If Chiru supports Ganta’s moves, how will his relations with Pawan Kalyan pan out? Will he form a party of Kapus for 2024? Let’s wait and see.

Will Chandrababu bell the enigmatic ‘Ganta’?

0

Will former minister and Vizag North MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao attend Friday’s key meeting of the Telugu Desam Party or not? Will he stay back in the TDP or will he look for green pastures? Will TDP give up on Ganta if he skips the meeting and find a replacement to lead the party in his constituency? These are the questions that are being hotly debated in the TDP circles in Vizag district.

TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu has called for a key meeting of some important party functionaries at Amaravati on Friday. Only 12 persons were sent invitations and Ganta Srinivasa Rao is one among them. But, Ganta has largely been keeping away from the party activities for the last three years. He did not join the protests even when Chandrababu Naidu’s wife Bhuvaneswari was insulted in the assembly.

There were also reports that Ganta tried to join the YSRCP, but was not exactly welcomed there. Similarly, there was a buzz that he was negotiating with the BJP, but nothing came out. He has sent his resignation from the AP Assembly on the issue of Vizag Steel Plant privatization, but never pressed for its acceptance. Of late, he is busy with Kapu politics. In view of all these, whether he would attend the meeting or not has assumed importance.

TDP sources say that if Ganta skips the meeting, Chandrababu Naidu might appoint another incharge for Vizag North so that preparations could be on for the 2024 elections. Hence, all eyes are on what Ganta Srinivasa Rao will do on Friday.

Why did BTech Ravi meet Ganta Srinivasa rao?

0

Why did TDP MLC and YS Jagan’s arch enemy BTech Ravi meet North Andhra strongman and Kapu leader Ganta Srinivasa Rao? What’s behind the meeting? It is clear that both have discussed the present politics in the state. Both are in the TDP, but Ganta has tried to join both BJP and YSRCP in the past. So, the sudden meeting assumes a lot of political significance.

Ganta, known to be an astute politician with his finger on the political pulse of the state, has suddenly become active after almost two years of hibernation. He has been attending party meetings and has also tried to project himself as a protector of Kapu interests. He has recently organized a meeting of the social and political leaders from the Kapu community.

But it is his meeting with MLC BTech Ravi that is making the news. MLC Ravi came all the way to Vizag to meet Ganta Srinivasa Rao. During his stint as a minister in the TDP regime, Ganta Srinivasa Rao was incharge for Kadapa district and had close relations with many leaders from within the TDP and outside it. Sources say MLC Ravi is using these past connections to meet Ganta in Vizag.

B Tech Ravi is a known Jagan baiter. He has fought against YS Jagan many a time and is known to have made acerbic comments on the issue of YS Vivekananda murder. But, what transpired at the meeting is not known. Both the leaders are maintaining studious silence on the issue. It remains to be seen if they have a plan for the party and future.

Never lost an election, but this biggie feels defeated

1

Why is TDP MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao so silent these days? No media addresses… no party interactions… he has not even been meeting the party workers. He is confined to himself these days. Political leaders are finding this long silence quite intriguing.

After all, Ganta is known to be expressive and outgoing. He has his friends in the media and vast connections in politics. Yet, he has been keeping an extremely low profile these days. In fact, his resignation from the assembly is pending with Speaker Tammineni Sitaram. He is neither retracting it nor pressing for accepting it.

Sources say that in view of his attempts to leave the party and join the YSRCP, the TDP has written him off. No leader of worth is trying to meet him. But those close to Ganta Srinivasa Rao say that he has a litany of complaints. He is upset that the party’s top leadership is favouring his rival within the party –Ch Ayyanna Patrudu. His constant complaint is that Lokesh, who is focusing on Vizag and Bheemili these days, is in touch with leaders like Ayyanna, his close relative and MVVS Murthy’s son Bharat and other leaders, whom Ganta considers as his rivals.

Ganta is also said to be upset at the reports that Lokesh might choose to contest from Bheemili constituency in 2024. While there is no confirmation about this as of now, Ganta feels threatened and is worried. Ganta feels that he has to vacate the seat if Lokesh asks for it. Hence, he is said to be keeping silent and keeping away from party activities. But, Ganta is not exactly welcomed into any other party. The YSRCP has not rolled out a red carpet for him when he tried to get into the party. The BJP did hold some meetings, but then abandoned the idea of taking him in. So, Ganta, who has never suffered a defeat since 1999, is feeling checkmated politically.

Why Ganta targetting Pawan on Steel Plant agitation?

1

The battle for political supremacy in Visakhapatnam has intensified manifold after the Steel Plant agitation picked up momentum. The Kapu community vote bank plays a critical role in deciding the fortunes of the contestants. This was why Pawan Kalyan contested from Gajuwaka in 2019.

Now, relatively inactive role played by Pawan in the agitation has come in for criticism. Even Ganta Srinivas Rao, who was very close to the Chiranjeevi and Pawan families, has now started putting pressure on Jana Senani. Ganta has now appealed to Pawan to take an active and direct role in the Visakha Steel Plant agitation.

Moreover, Ganta has given another embarrassing challenge to Senani. He has appealed to all parties including Jana Sena to rally together and put up a joint candidate in the Tirupati bypoll on behalf of the Steel Plant agitation. Pawan has already announced his support to the BJP candidate. There’s also alliance dharma that is binding Pawan Kalyan to the need for supporting the BJP on almost all issues more or less unconditionally.

Apparently, Ganta is deliberately pushing Pawan into a tight spot. Thereby, the TDP MLA is trying to increase his grip on the Kapu and youth vote banks in the port city.

Ganta attends TDP meeting, first time after 2019 polls

3

Vizag North MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao has a reputation for always choosing the party in power. After the 2019 polls, Ganta distanced himself from the TDP and maintained a very low profile since then. Later, there were reports that he might join the YCP or the BJP but that did not materialise.

As the agitation against the Visakha Steel privatisation was rising, Ganta has sent his resignation to the Assembly in the Speaker’s format. What remains is just for the YCP regime to accept his resignation. Ganta has even announced that he would not even contest the bypoll just as a token of his solidarity for the agitation.

Now, another interesting development took place that has created political ripples in the State. Ganta Srinivasa Rao personally attended the TDP review meeting held by Atchannaidu in Vizag today. This is the first time that Ganta attended such an internal party meeting since 2019. The meeting discussed the deteriorating health condition of TDP Vizag Parliament President Palla Srinivasa Rao who was on indefinite hunger strike against the steel plant privatisation.

By doing so, Ganta seems to have taken a calculated risk of losing any chance to join the YCP in future. Analysts say that Ganta is a very shrewd politician and he would have weighed all pros and cons for the sake of his own political future.

Noose tightens around Ganta Srinivas

1

The Jagan government seems to be tightening the noose around TDP leader Ganta Srinivas Rao.
In early morning drive, the district administration has recovered more than 124 acres of government land from “illegal occupants”, most of whom are powerful politicians, industrialists, and businessmen.
Of the 124 acres government land in Vijayarampuram agraharam in Rambilli Tehsil of Visakhapatnam district, around four acres was allegedly encroached upon by Ganta Srinivas Rao. The GVMC has razed illegal structures in the four acres of land allegedly occupied by the former HRD minister.
The YSRCP government also identified government lands allegedly occupied by Ganta Srinivas Rao and his supporters in Bhemili and rural Vizag The district administration will soon launch a drive to take over the alleged encroached lands.
The move to recover the government lands comes at a time the Indian Bank has moved a step closer to auction the assets of Ganta Srinivas Rao.
The bank will be auctioning some of the assets of Ganta Srinivas Rao to recover total outstanding dues, including interest. Ganta Srinivas Rao’s Pratyusha Company owes Indian Bank Rs 248 crore, including interest. The bank has decided to auction assets in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam on November 25 via e-auction. The bank is likely to auction six properties in Visakhapatnam, Rangareddy district, East Godavari, and Kancheepuram in Tamil Nadu. The Indian Bank first-served notices in 2016 to clear the dues, but Pratyusha Company could not meet the deadline to clear the outstanding.
The bank has served notices to auction properties of Pratyusha Resources and Infra, P Raja Rao, representing Pratyusha Resources and Infra, P V Bhaskara Rao, Ganta Srinivasa Rao, and KB Subrahmanyam. The notices were served under the Securitisation and Reconstruction of Financial Estates and Enforcement of Security Interest Act.
Ganta Srinivasa Rao had stepped down as director of the company a few years ago. One of his properties has been already attached.
Ganta Srinivas Rao is making attempts to jump the TDP ship to sail with the YSRCP. However, Ganta’s entry into the YSRCP was being blocked by Rajya Sabha MP Vijaysai Reddy and tourism minister Avanthi Srinivas. The three leaders have locked horns over several issues, including corruption charges and the arrest of TDP leaders by the Andhra Pradesh government. Avanti at one point even commented that Ganta will be the next in line to be arrested after TDP leader Atchannaidu and a host of other TDP leaders.

Ganta’s back door entry into YCP finalised: Mission Vizag

2

One by one, all the TDP MLAs and leaders in Visakhapatnam port city are surrendering to the Operation Aakarsh of the ruling YSRCP. Already, Vizag South MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar has joined hands with the ruling party. His sons have formally joined and taken membership of the YSRCP.

Now, the decks are cleared for a similar joining of TDP’s Vizag North MLA and former Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao. The modus operandi is the same. Ganta’s son Ravi Teja would be joining the YCP and he would take the membership in the presence of Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy. Ganta Srinivasa Rao would be present on this occasion. This back door entry of Ganta into YCP is expected to take place on Saturday.

Only a few days ago, YCP MP Vijay Sai Reddy has targetted and warned that Ganta Srinivasa Rao would have to face serious consequences because of the huge corruption during his period as the Minister. Vijay Sai has threatened that during the Chandrababu Naidu regime, Ganta resorted to irregularities in his capacity as the Minister for which he would have to pay a heavy price now. Analysts say that Vijay Sai’s warnings indicate the ruling party’s latest move to speed up their Mission Vizag in order to win over as many TDP leaders as possible before the final shifting of Capital to the port city.

Ganta’s entry into YCP would certainly create a sensation in political circles. But, the TDP leaders say that the MLAs and leaders may leave their party but the cadres will remain with their party like before. Moreover, Ganta is known for his shrewd political moves and never the one to go against the ruling party at any point of time in his political career because of his business interests.

Take revenge on me but not innocents: Ganta to Jagan

0

In a short span in two days, two TDP sympathisers were arrested for posting social media comments. One Nalanda Kishore was arrested by the CID saying that he forwarded a post that created a media sensation defamatory to Minister Avanti Srinivas and MP Vijayasai Reddy. Another TDP sympathiser Ch Krishna Rao was arrested in Nandigama for alleged defamatory posts against the Government on social media.

This has raised political temperatures once again. Attacks on TDP picked up speed once again after its recent campaigns on corruption scams in Saraswati power lease extension and 108 ambulances irregularities.

Now, former minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said Nalanda Kishore has just forwarded a message and he has not committed any treason against the country. He urged the government not to target innocents but asked it to take revenge against him instead. He condemned the manner in which the 70-year-old Kishore was arrested at midnight even he was suffering from ill-health. The Former Minister deplored that the officials were not giving any information on the arrest.

Ganta tries to foil row over Narayana College by issuing Rs 1lakh fine

0

Narayana College fine

Intermediate board officials fined Narayana Group of Institutions with Rs 1lakh for running colleges and hostels without valid permits.

Following the series of suicides by students Education Minister Ganta Srinivas Rao visited Narayana group institutions to find out the reasons for suicides and examine the hostels. He conducted inspection of two colleges and hostels in Vishakapatnam on Saturday only to realized that they were running without any permissions.

The minister reportedly gave earful to the Narayana College of management and Intermediate board. The Inter board woke up and fined the college with just one lakh rupees.

His son and actor Ganta Ravi is married to daughter of Minister P Narayana who owns Narayana Group . So, the Minister by visiting institutions owned by his daughter-in-law’s family made a mockery of the education system in the state. Secondly, this attempt is clearly a response to foil the argument that the government failed to respond or take action against Narayana Institutions.
