Settlers saved the face KCR in GHMC: Here are the top Reasons

4

GHMC election results gave almost a shocker to the ruling TRS party in Hyderabad. The party that had around 100 seats in previous elections and has boasted of winning 100+ seats out of the total 150 this time too, bit the dust and won only 55 seats. However, as it retained the tag of the single largest party and saved the face from further humiliation. But the surprising fact is that TRS, the party that advocated bifurcation, now got most of the winning seats from the areas where Seemandhra people stay. There is debate among political circles on the reasons for this.

Who are Settlers:

“Settlers” is the word popularized by KCR during the Telangana movement to galvanize the Telangana people towards the movement. As most of us know, there is no such word in the constitution of India, and article 19 of the constitution permits people to move across the country and reside anywhere in the country. Yet political parties advocating regionalism, including TRS, often provoke people by using the terms like ‘Son of Soil’ and ‘Settlers’. Such verbal attacks by KCR made the people of Seemandhra in Hyderabad restless during the Telangana movement.

Cut to GHMC election 2020, the same settlers saved TRS from a humiliating defeat in the hands of TRS. The ruling party got 55 seats in total in Hyderabad and out of those 33 seats came from these areas alone. Kukatpally, and Sherlingampally MLA constituencies voted hugely in favor of TRS despite the vigorous campaign of BJP.

Reason 1: Settler areas NOT severely impacted by recent floods:

The primary reason for the huge anti-vote for TRS this time is the failure in properly managing recent floods. The outskirts areas, where the houses were drowned and properties were damaged during floods, voted hugely in favor of BJP. It seems they want to teach the lesson to the government for its failure in handling the disaster. BJP’s propaganda that KCR did not visit any of these impacted areas struck a chord with those people

Reason 2: IT and ‘Real’ growth in these areas.

These are the people who initially worried about KCR becoming CM will be a bane. But after KCR was sworn in in 2014, these areas got benefitted immensely. The property prices in these areas got doubled, if not tripled or quadrupled, in these areas. KTR’s propaganda that 4 out of the top 5 IT companies are in Hyderabad had a profound impact here. The infrastructure in these areas grew leaps and bounds as many fly-overs, roads, and malls, started in the last 6 years in these areas. The only exception is the area of Gachibowl, where people from North India dominate, voted hugely in favor of BJP, thanks to Modi’s popularity among them.

Reason 3: General attitude of people in these areas Vs BJP’s aggressive campaigning

These areas are generally peaceful in Hyderabad, unlike the old city and Charminar areas that are considered sensitive. BJP’s propaganda of surgical strikes on Rohingya Muslims, campaigning on communal lines did not go well with the people of these areas. In fact, these people were against TRS during the movement also because of TRS’s aggressive nature at that time.

Reason 4: Political affiliations of Seemandhra people, indirectly helped KCR reap political fortunes

While all the above reasons are related to logic, this one is related to emotion. In fact, while voting emotion plays a more important role than logic. BJP is not a force to reckon with in AP yet. It lagged behind the NOTA in the 2019 elections of Andhra Pradesh. YSRCP, TDP, and Janasena are the top 3 parties in AP as per votes polled in 2019.

YSRCP did not contest in GHMC elections and extended tacit support to TRS. YSRCP Leaders like Posani openly supported TRS. Though he told it is his personal opinion, the cadres got their message.

TDP contested but got only 1.6% votes. 10 years ago all these areas are strongholds of TDP but the party now lost all its vote-bank. Even the hardcore fans of TDP felt that voting for TDP may not help anyone and it is better to choose TRS against BJP as, in their opinion, BJP’s central leadership is crushing TDP in AP.

Janasena is an official ally to BJP in AP. However, they too didn’t vote for BJP wholeheartedly as BJP did not allocate any seats to Janasena. In fact, BJP made Janasena withdraw their candidates and just support BJP without contesting. This decision pissed-off Janasena cadres.

Clicke here: నోటా లేక టీఆర్ఎస్ వైపు జనసైనికులు: మద్దతు కూడగట్టడంలో బండి, ధర్మపురి వైఫల్యం?

Had BJP dealt with Janasena voters a little more carefully, it would have got a few more seats in these areas, as per the opinion of analysts.

Overall, this is a watershed moment for BJP in the politics of Telangana, as, for the first time in history, BJP got as many votes as the ruling party in any election to date. We need to wait and see whether BJP will be able to capitalize on this or TRS will bounce-back by tightening all the loose joints.

Your time has come to step down: Nadda to KCR

1

Braving the downpour in the city, BJP national president J P Nadda took part in roadshows amidst the chants of ‘Bharat Mata Ki jai, Jai Shri Ram” and drumbeats. The entire atmosphere was at once electrifying with the BJP showing signs of renewed vigor after its victory in Dubbaka polls.

In Kothapeta, chants of “jai jai Modi, down down KCR” reverberated with a massive turnout.

Addressing the public, Nadda urged the voters to give BJP a chance in the GHMC elections for the larger development of city. “I am telling KCR that your time has come to step down. Your downfall is near. The lotus will blossom in Telangana. We will steer Hyderabad into the path of progress and development. We will go to any city to bring development, end corruption and family rule. I request voters to support the BJP to blossom in every single division under the GHMC limits,” Nadda said while amping up adrenalin rush in the BJP’s camp.

As Nadda’s vehicle snaked through the road, a massive public held the BJP flags while showering flowers and petals amid chants of “jai jai Modi”. Nadda sprinkled his campaign with heavy doses of national security and barbs against KCR to strike a chord with the public. “The car lost its steam, the hand is paralysed, it is time for the lotus to bloom. We will unitedly work towards winning the elections to bring vikas to Telangana,” he stated.

Nadda alleged that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is not concerned about the problems of Backward Caste (BC) communities or the poor.

The state BJP has roped in several important national party leaders, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to intensify its campaign against the ruling TRS after the pink party lost Dubbaka bypolls. With the deployment of national BJP leaders, the GHMC elections assumed national hue. It remains to be seen if the participation of the national BJP leaders in civic poll campaign will work in favor of the saffron party or if TRS will continue to retain its supremacy in the GHMC polls.

Modi’s sudden visit raises political heat in GHMC polls

1

Till now, the BJP has announced that Amit Shah, Yogi Adityanath and such leaders would campaign in the GHMC elections. But, all of a sudden, surprise news came out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Hyderabad on November 29. The polling is going to be held on December 1.
Obviously, Modi’s visit is not planned as part of the election campaign. Reports say that the Prime Minister will be arriving in Hyderabad to take part in a programme relating to Bharat Biotech. Mr. Modi is all set to arrive in a special aircraft from Delhi at Hakimpet airport on that day. Arrangements are being made for this.
As is evident, political temperatures have already reached a peak. The TRS and the BJP are making mutual allegations like never before. The MIM comments on PV and NTR Ghats have changed the total course of electioneering now. The Congress and the TDP were also making all out efforts to make their presence felt.
Amid this, the Prime Minister’s visit is being seen as a clear strategy of the BJP to enhance the winning chances of its nominees in the GHMC elections.

GHMC polls: BJP promises free water and power supply

0

Days after the ruling TRS released its manifesto promising free water supply to the people, the BJP released its bouquet of freebies including free water supply.
The manifesto was released by Devendra Phadnavis, minister of state for home Kishan Reddy and BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar. Apart from the free water supply, the BJP also promised free power to all houses using less than 100 units. Further, the saffron party promised free metro and bus rides for women and scrapping of the Layout Regularisation Scheme. The BJP said it will give Rs 25,000 each to flood-affected family, financial assistance to build one lakh houses under PM Awas Yojana, waiver of property tax in all SC colonies, enactment of Sumedha Act to remove illegal encroachments,
The TRS which had recently released its manifesto promised free water to the households which consumed not more than 20,000 liters a month and free power supply to salons, dhobi ghats, and laundries across the state. The pink party also promised to reimburse the state GST for small budget films (upto Rs 10 crore) allowing the theatres to increase the number of shows per day.
Fresh from Dubbaka bypoll victory, the BJP got into an aggressive mode to make inroads into Telangana. Leaders of TRS and BJP have unleashed a war of words. The BJP is largely focussing on the illegal immigrants, especially Rohingyas, and targetting the TRS for its alleged “unholy nexus” with AIMIM party. The saffron party accused the TRS of enlisting Rohingyas in the voters list in an attempt to win the elections.

On Wednesday, Union Minister Smriti Irani held a press conference and tore into the TRS camp on the issue of Rohingyas. The BJP seems to be leaving no stone unturned to win the elections and roped in national leaders including Union home minister Amit Shah, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, and party national president J P Nadda to campaign in Hyderabad. Yogi Adityanath is likely to campaign in Chevella on November 27, while Nadda will participate in a roadshow in Malkajgiri. Most importantly, home minister Amit Shah will campaign in a roadshow in Secunderabad on November 29.
The TRS seems to be rattled after its defeat in Dubbaka bypolls. IT Minister K T Rama Rao and finance minister Harish Rao are mainly focussing on attacking the BJP, which clearly shows that the pink party seems to be worried at the growth of the saffron party in BJP.

Disruptive forces plotting to get GHMC polls postponed: KCR

1

Hours after Union Minister Smriti Irani launched a broadside against the TRS government, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao asserted that maintaining law and order is the top priority of his government.

At a high-level meeting on law and order, the Chief Minister alleged that anti-national forces are making efforts to disrupt the GHMC elections with an ulterior motive to get the polls postponed. He said the state police have been given a free hand to thwart any attempt to disturb the communal harmony in the state and asserted that his government will not let a peaceful atmosphere be disturbed by the inimical elements. Further, the Chief Minister said that the police intelligence wings have complete information on the forces that making serious efforts to create disturbances in the state and that their devious plot will be dealt with an iron hand.

“No one will be spared. We will not let anyone disturb the peaceful atmosphere in the state. I have given a free hand to the police to deal with the situation sternly. Attempts are being made to disturb the peace in the state with a motive to get the elections postponed. We won’t the disruptive forces succeed in their conspiracy,” the Chief Minister said.

The stakes seem to be high for the GHMC election with the TRS government making all efforts to thwart the BJP’s attempts to make inroads into Telangana. Fresh from victory in Dubbaka bypolls, the BJP has upped its ante and hoping to make a dent in the TRS vote bank. As the GHMC elections near, the risk of violence appears to be growing. The atmosphere has been vitiated by the political rhetoric unleashed by both the ruling TRS and the BJP.

Earlier, in the day, Smirit Irani tore into the TRS camp blaming the unholy alliance between the ruling party and Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM for the illegal stay of Rohingyas in Hyderabad. The Union Minister alleged that the AIMIM party leaders got illegal immigrants enlisted in the voters’ list and that the TRS government had failed to initiate any action against them.

“The law and order is a state subject. If the TRS government writes to the Union government about deportation Rohingyas, we will take action. Thousands of Rohingyas had succeeded in getting listed as voters while the TRS government has turned a blind eye. Both the TRS and AIMIM are using the Rohingyas for political gains which is shameful. The Telangana government has to take immediate steps for the deportation of Rohingyas,” Smiti Irani said while addressing a press conference in Hyderabad.

The Union Minister claimed that more than 75,000 Rohingya refugees are residing in Hyderabad while enjoying full support from AIMIM and the ruling TRS. “Our party’s stand and the stand of the union government has been consistent against illegal immigration. We need to protect the rights of every Indian citizen and it is our onerous responsibility to ensure that the taxpayers’ money goes to the deserving Indians,” she said.

GHMC polls: Smriti Irani says Rohingyas enlisted in voters list

0

The GHMC elections have taken a national political hue with the central BJP leaders aggressively canvassing for its party leaders. Both the ruling TRS and BJP are raking up issues of national importance rather than focusing on local issues.

On Wednesday, Union Minister Smriti Iran tore into the TRS camp blaming the unholy alliance between the ruling party and Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM for the illegal stay of Rohingyas in Hyderabad.

The Telangana government has to take immediate steps for the deportation of Rohingyas,” Smiti Irani said while addressing a press conference in Hyderabad.

.The Union Minister claimed that more than 75,000 Rohingya refugees are residing in Hyderabad while enjoying full support from AIMIM and the ruling TRS. “Our party’s stand and the stand of the union government has been consistent against illegal immigration. We need to protect the rights of every Indian citizen and it is our onerous responsibility to ensure that the taxpayers’ money goes to the deserving Indians,” she said.

Further, she said thousands of people have sacrificed their lives for the cause of Telangana state and that she is deeply saddened by the family rule of KCR. The Union minister also said that the TRS is rattled by the presence of BJP reason why the Telangana government was using the police machinery to arrest its leaders and foist false cases.

On Tuesday, BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar said that TRS and AIMIM were trying to win GHMC polls with Rohingyas, Pakistani, and Afghanistani voters and warned that surgical strikes in Old City once the BJP wins the GHMC polls triggering an uproar from the TRS and the AIMIM.

Owaisi’s MIM is a threat, not BJP: KTR

1

IT and MAUD Minister K T Rama Rao has intensified his campaign for the upcoming GHMC elections asking voters to choose between development or destruction.

“Do you want development of Hyderabad or destruction? If you want development, defeat the polarizing forces that are trying to divide the people of the state on the communal lines and whipping up Hindu-Muslim passions. The BJP’s attempt to polarize voters on religious lines will not work as voters in the State are mature,” he said.
KTR launched rhetoric in his inimitable style asking the voters, “Do you want Gulabi (pink color) or do you want to be Delhi’s ‘Ghulam’ (slaves of Delhi). We are local. Drive out the communal forces from the city, and the state. Such parties have no place in developmental politics,” he said.

He also remarked that the saffron party was trying to disturb peace in the state while referring to State BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar remark that there will be “surgical strikes” in the Old City. For the last six years, Telangana has remained peaceful. There have been no instances of bomb blasts, riots or any form of violence. This is the reason why tech giants like Apple, Amazon, Facebook have chosen Hyderabad as their investment destination. If political leaders come to your colonies seeking votes, ask them what they did for the development of Hyderabad,” he stated.

“Why surgical strikes in Hyderabad? The Union government should unleash surgical strikes against unemployment, surgical strikes against crime against women. Look at the BJP ruled states, especially Uttar Pradesh, where there is a high incidence of atrocities against women. Why is the Modi government not unleashing surgical strikes against criminals in Uttar Pradesh,” he questioned.

KTR, who has been extensively touring the city to campaign for TRS candidates in R K Puram, Saroornagar, Lingojiguda, Nagole, Kothapeta, said the BJP has stalled the TRS government’s flood relief measures by complaining to the state election commission. “The government has been serious about rehabilitating the flood victims and had been giving Rs 10,000 flood relief to the victims of torrential rains, but the BJP stalled it,” he criticized.

He further stated that the TRS main threat in the GHMC elections was not the BJP, but Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM. “We don’t consider BJP as a political threat. Our main threat is the MIM,” he said.

KCR-KTR shower love and affection on Andhra voters

1

Increased competition in the GHMC elections seems to have humbled the TRS party a bit. KCR, who is known for his hate comments against Andhras, has also softened like never before. His son KTR too is going a step further to talk sympathetically about the cause of Andhra Pradesh.

Coming just right after the overwhelming floods, the GHMC elections have indeed become a timely chance for the BJP to increase its pressure on the ruling party. The BJP leaders are also emboldened after the recent sensational victory in Dubbaka byelection.

Naturally, there are ample chances for the BJP to attract the Seemandhra voters in Hyderabad. However, the way injustice is being done to Andhra Pradesh is still a matter of concern. The Central funds are not coming for AP projects. Major projects like Polavaram and Amaravati are badly hit.

As such, KCR seems to have reversed his stand and started wooing Andhra voters in a subtle way. He has offered lots of sops for Tollywood which is mostly dominated by Andhras. On the other hand, KTR has talked about how AP Capital has been neglected by the Modi Government. Apparently, the father-son duo are all out to counter the BJP move to woo Andhra vote bank.

KCR announces free water supply, GST reimbursement to small budget movies

1

Ahead of the GHMC elections, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao announced a slew of sops to a cross-section of the society, including the cinema industry.

In a first in the country, the Telangana government announced that water will be supplied free to households in Hyderabad from next December. The Chief Minister announced that no water tariff will be levied on the household consumers from next December 1.

Releasing the election manifesto for the GHMC elections at the party headquarters in Telangana Bhavan, Chandrasekhar Rao said, “Our government will supply free water from December to households that consume less than 20,000 litres a month. We will also supply free power supply to laundries, salons, and dhobi ghats across the State from December.

In a big relief to the entertainment industry, the Chief Minister announced that the government will reimburse the State GST for small budget films up to Rs 10 crore. He also announced that theatres can increase the number of shows per day and make ticket pricing flexible in view of the losses incurred by the industry. Further, the Telangana government has also decided to waive off the minimum demand charge of HD and LT categories of industries, cinema theatres, and commercial firms for the six month period of lockdown. The Telangana government also waived off motor vehicle tax that is likely to benefit 3.37 lakh vehicle owners.

Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena to contest GHMC polls alone?

0

The Jana Sena Party has announced its decision to contest the elections to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). But it has not clarified whether there will be an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party or not. Jana Sena Telangana incharge Vemuri Sankar Goud has announced that their party will contest in the GHMC elections. Jana Sena did not contest the Dubbaka election.

The sudden announcement came like a big surprise to the voters in the Telangana Capital and also to the political circles in the Telugu States. Actually, Pawan Kalyan has been praising the Prime Minister in a big way at every given opportunity. There were reports that the Jana Sena support has also made some impact in favour of the BJP sensational victory in Dubbaka.

Now, the reason for the last minute entry of the Jana Sena has become a mystery to one and all. The TDP is already in the fray and it is expecting support from the voters considering Chandrababu Naidu’s contribution to the city development. However, the main fight is expected to be between the TRS, the Congress and the BJP.

Analysts say that if the Jana Sena contests election alone, then the Andhra vote bank would be split mostly between the TDP and the Jana Sena. Thus, Pawan entry into the GHMC elections will again hurt the TDP rather than any other party there.

GHMC polls on December 1

0

The State Election Commission on Tuesday released the notification for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections.

State Election Commissioner ParthaSarathy said November 22 is the last date for withdrawal of nominations.

HC refuses to stay GHMC polls

0

The Telangana High Court on Monday refused to stay the upcoming GHMC elections.

Hearing public interest litigation filed by Congress leader D Sravan, the High Court observed that the petition was filed at a time the state election commission was making all preparations to hold the elections.

In his petition, the Congress leader contended that the GHMC polls will have to be held after rotation of reservation.

He brought to the notice of the court that the BC reservations were being implemented against the Supreme Court’s order and people from politically backward classes were not being recognized. While disposing of the case, the High Court questioned why the petitioner did not file a petition earlier if he really cared for the welfare of backward classes.

On November 11, the High Court had served a notice to the state government on its two-child policy in the GHMC polls. Petitioners Sridhar Babu Ravi and Mohammed Taher appealed to the court to declare Section 21 B of the GHMC Act, 1955 arbitrary and unconstitutional. Under the GHMC Act, 1955, the government issued a notification disqualifying candidates to enter the poll fray if the candidate has more than two children born after May 1955.

‘T’ govt lures voters with property tax rebate

0

Ahead of the GHMC elections and just days before releasing the notification, the Telangana government on Saturday announced property tax rebate to
woo the voters.

The government announced 50 percent rebate on payment of property tax for the financial year 2020-21 under the GHMC limits. The rebate will be

applicable only to residential property owners with a ceiling of up to Rs 15,000 property tax per annum in GHMC limits and Rs 10,000 above property tax per annum in other cities in Telangana. “This is a Diwali gift from the Telangana government. The amount, for those who already paid the property tax, will be adjusted in the next financial year. The property tax rebate will benefit more than 31.40 lakh families,” IT and MAUD minister K T Rama Rao said.

Addressing a press conference, KTR also said the government has decided to enhance the salaries of santiation workers by Rs 3,000 to Rs 17,500 from the current Rs 14,500. “The sanitation workers have done a commendable job during the Covid-19 pandemic period. The government decided to honor the sanitation workers by increasing their salaries,” he said.
He also said the government has far disbursed Rs 475 crore to 4.75 lakh families under the flood relief and rehabilitation.

With the drubbing at Dubbaka bypolls in the hands of the BJP, the ruling TRS doesn’t want to take any chances. The GHMC elections are likely to be held on December 4, a notification to this effect could be announced anytime.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has taken the Dubbaka defeat with a pinch of salt.
He held a Cabinet meeting on Friday where the Chief Minister discussed with ministers the factors that led to the debacle in Dubbaka bypolls. Hyderabad MP and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi had recently met Chandrashekar Rao at Pragati Bhavan.
The TRS the and AIMIM have been political allies ever since the formation of the state of Telangana. The GHMC has 150 divisions. In the last elections, TRS had bagged 99 seats while the AIMIM clinched 44, leaving remaining to other parties.
The BJP is likely to taken on the TRS on the recent devastating floods, which have affected Hyderabad and urban infrastructure.

GHMC polls on December 4?

1

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Elections (GHMC) polls are likely to be held on December 4. A notification to this effect could be expected after Diwali.
The ruling TRS is keen on holding the elections in the first week of December. IT and MAUD minister K T Rama Rao held a meeting with ministers on the election strategy, coming as it does after the TRS drugging at the Dubbaka hustings.
The Election Commission held a meeting with more than 11 political parties in the fray for the upcoming GHMC polls. The representatives of the political parties presented their suggestions before the election commission.
The BJP said the SEC should ensure free and fair poll in providing the confidence to the citizens to exercise their franchise freely rather than succumb to the ruling party’s pressure”. The representative of BJP appealed to the election commission to ensure there is no voters’ list “manipulation” especially in areas where the BJP is seen to be having strong support base. Further, steps should be taken to ensure that a maximum of 1,000 voters are listed under one polling station and each such polling station should have a presiding officer assisted by three polling personnel. The BJP also wanted the deployment of central forces for free and fair polls.
Congress leader Marri Shashidhar Reddy asked the State Election Commission to complete the preparation of draft electors’ lists for the elections 15 days before the notification for the polls.

Muslims need reservations to bring them out of the vote-bank menace

Telangana is witnessing different perspectives on the Muslim reservations bill. The International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination hosted by the United nations postulated (in Article 2.2) that affirmative action or reservations programs may be required of countries that ratified the convention, in order to rectify systematic discrimination.

Seven decades into independence instead of realizing Minorities as an integral part of the country they are still being considered as vote-bank. Congress and Communist parties managed to ensure to uplift minorities to a certain extent. BJP’s behavior in TS assembly during the passage of the Muslim reservation bill clearly displays the party’s future perspective. It is paving way for partisan politics. The saffron party called the move an attempt to pander to minorities. Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu said it would be akin to creating “another Pakistan”.

The general Muslim aversion to the BJP still runs deep, evident from the voting pattern. Muslim vote-bank across the country did not vote in favor of BJP in the 2014 elections. Likewise, TRS did not have any alliance with Muslim parties and it lost in the places where Muslim voters are in majority. In the GHMC elections, TRS swam alone and could make their candidate as mayor. Neither in GHMC elections nor in Assembly elections did the Muslim vote bank support TRS. Despite the aversion, KCR went ahead in implementing the promises made in his election manifesto. In all his 179 speeches during elections, KCR mentioned about the Muslim reservation and subsequently is implementing everything as promised. But BJP is tagging it with religion.

The beauty of democracy is that all the people need to be treated equally by the party that comes to power. The government is responsible for the welfare of all the communities. From the very first elections not even one party received 40 percent voters support except for once. Leaders are forming government with votes polled by merely one third of the voters. However, all the leaders have been delivering their responsibility to all voters including the two fractions which did not vote. India has never witnessed a party favoring only a segment of its voters. But now the saffron party paved way to work only for the people who voted for them. It would be mockery of democracy if only those who voted will be given preferential treatment.

Muslim progress is not considered by the ruling BJP, all they speak is about protecting them. Even the leaders of their party in respective states are displaying the same attitude. BJP could get seats without alliance at the center and recently in UP. But it is known for its Hindutva affiliations. From past three years, instead of trying to shed the image, it has taken the route of constantly propagating that the minorities are trusting them. It is now cleverly trying to make inroads into the Muslim community by virtually dividing it on the basis of gender. Injustice will stop only when they are allowed to progress by creating equal opportunities. The women whom Modi targeted need to be educated and this will come when they have reservations to grow with more opportunities and become self-reliant. Their representation in educational institutions and employment should be on par with their share in Indian population.

TS Congress New Slogan for GHMC polls : TRS Master of Defections

0

Calling the ruling TRS running a ” Government of 40:60″, Congress wants to showcase TRS as a Master of Defections in the ensuing GHMC elections.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Congress party has resolved to attack calling the ruling TRS as a party of ’40:60’. This will be the new slogan on which the Congress wanted to battle with the pink panther that has been making every possible move to poach any leader worth the name in its fold. Explaining the new slogan, a senior party lead said that the TRS which boasts as the only party committed to Telangana has only 40% of ministers in its cabinet from TRS. All the other 60% ministers are from other parties like Congress, TDP and others.

We want to highlight how the ruling party has been adopting undemocratic ways to poach MLAs, MLCs and peoples representatives of other elected bodies in the state. But, at the same time, it fears of losing the seat if they resign and seek re-election after joining in TRS. So, it is allowing those crossed the fences from other parties to continue in their posts without resigning. This is a deliberate attempt to undo the choice of the people who elected their people’s representatives. And, 60% of this kind of lot is being inducted into the TRS cabinet. It is a 40 TRS and 60 Others party’s government, and we want to take this to people to highlight during the ensuing GHMC elections, the leader said.

TRS Government set its eyes on GHMC polls and goes all out to woo 17 lakh slum dwellers with waiving power and water bills roughly estimated at Rs 1,500 crore

Hyderabad: A month ahead of the the Grater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, the ruling TRS government in Telangana has decided to waive pending electricity bills to the tune of Rs 130 croe to the residents of several slums in the city. Not just the that, it has also decided to waive another Rs 12,00 crore of water bills of the people.

The waive would cover provide relief to about 1000 and odd notified slum dwellers in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secundrabad. But, the catch is that the government would issue an order only after the end of the poll code that is in force now. This is to avoid any legal hitches in rolling out the scheme, the sources said.

Decision to this effect has been taken by the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao, during a review meeting with the officials of energy department and Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewearge Board (HMWS&SB). The Chief Minister has reportedly asked the officials to work out on the modalities to implement the scheme. There are 1,468 slums within the GHMC area with 17 lakh population living in these localities. While 1,131 slums are notified ones, and the remaining are not notified as slums buy the civic body.
