Delhi court lists Nora Fatehi’s defamation case against Jacqueline for May 22
A Delhi court on Saturday adjourned actress Nora Fatehi’s plea against Jacqueline Fernandez alleging that the latter made defamatory allegations against her for “malicious reasons” and to destroy her career in Rs 200 crore extortion case involving conman Sukesh Chandrashekar as the prime accused, for May 22.
The matter was listed before Metropolitan Magistrate (MM) Kapil Gupta of Patiala House Court.
On January 13, Fatehi had recorded her statement as a witness in the money laundering case in the presence of Metropolitan Magistrate Akriti Mahendru.
The court had, on December 19, 2022, noted that counsel for the complainant sought some time to file the list of witnesses.
Fernandez is also being investigated by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police in the case involving Chandrashekhar.
Earlier, Fatehi had also appeared before the EOW.
She has alleged that Fernandez made a false statement against her despite being an actress too.
“Fernandez has unnecessarily dragged and defamed me as I am in the same industry. She is fully aware that the business of any artiste and their career is solely based on their reputation. This clearly establishes that the said imputation has been made with the intention and knowledge that such imputation will harm the reputation of the complainant,” her plea read.
She had also accused a few media firms for quoting Fernandez, which lowered her reputation, in the same plea.
Chandrashekhar allegedly spent around Rs 20 crore on different models and Bollywood celebs.

‘Reputation being tarnished’: Nora Fatehi files defamation suit against Jacqueline Fernandez
Bollywood actor Nora Fatehi has filed a defamation case in a court here against actor Jacqueline Fernandez, alleging that the latter made defamatory allegations against her for “malicious reasons” and to destroy her career.
According to Fatehi, Fernandez sought to criminally defame her in order to destroy her career to further her own interests, since they are both working in the same industry and have similar backgrounds, amongst other reasons.
Contending that her image is being tarnished, Fatehi, stressing that artistes’ career is solely based on their reputation, alleged that defamatory remarks were made against her by Fernandez to ensure her financial, social, and personal downfall.
In the complaint accessed by IANS, she also claimed that Fernandez has also maliciously attempted to absolve herself from her actions in another criminal proceedings which are absolutely unrelated to her.
“Jacqueline Fernandez is also an actress, and is pretty well known in the film industry. She has also been made an accused in the Sukesh Chandrashekhar Rs 200 crore money-laundering case by the Enforcement Directorate. That the defamatory imputations were made by Fernandez due to malicious reasons. Apart from that, Fernandez sought to criminally defame the complainant in order to destroy her career to further her own interests since she is also in Bollywood,” read the complaint moved by Fatehi through her counsel advocate Vikram Chauhan.
Fatehi has further alleged that Fernandez made a false statement against her despite being an actress too.

Earlier, fixed deposits worth Rs 7.2 crore belonging to Fernandez were attached by the ED, which termed these gifts and properties as proceeds of crime received by the actresses.
In February, the ED filed its first supplementary prosecution complaint against Chandrashekhar’s aide Pinky Irani, who introduced him to Bollywood actresses.
It had been alleged in the charge sheet that Irani used to choose costly gifts for Fernandez and later used to drop it at her house after the payments were made by Chandrashekhar.

Extortion case: Jacqueline deleted evidence from phone, says ED
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has claimed that Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez had deleted evidence from her cell phone, and also tried to leave the country.
The ED made this submission while opposing the actor’s bail plea in connection with a money laundering case pertaining to Rs 200 crore extortion matter involving multimillionaire conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, an official said on Saturday.
The IANS is in possession of ED documents which confirm that she had deleted data from her cell phone.
“She admitted deleting crucial evidence on her phone and further had told others to delete the evidence which amounts to tampering of evidence. She also tried to flee abroad,” the ED has claimed.
The ED said that during the investigation it emerged that Jacqueline enjoyed the proceeds of crime which the main accused (Sukesh Chandrashekhar and Leena Maria Paul) obtained by the route of extortion from Aditi (wife of Shivinder Singh).
Jacqueline had knowledge of the criminal antecedents of the main accused — Sukash and Leena.
“She not only used and enjoyed the proceeds of crime herself but also shared that with her family members staying abroad while knowing very well that the money and gifts showered by Chandrasekar were nothing but proceeds of crime not earned by him through any genuine source. An amount of Rs 7,12,24,767 had been identified till now as proceed of crime and the same was attached,” the ED said.
The ED said that Jacqueline never cooperated with the investigation team, and only when confronted with evidence and statements, she had made disclosure.
Initially, Jacqueline denied that Chandrashekhar had purchased two cars for her parents but on December 12, 2021 she admitted it. She also stated that her sister had received $1,72,913 in her account.
Fernandez was granted interim bail. She has not been given regular bail. The court has extended her interim bail till the next date of hearing.
Rs 200 cr scam case: Jacqueline to appear before Delhi court today
Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez will, on Monday, appear before Patiala House Court in connection with the Rs 200 crore extortion case involving multi-millionaire conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar.
Recently, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had filed its second supplementary charge sheet in the case naming her as an accused.
The Special ED court is all set to take cognisance of the charge sheet.
Jacqueline and another Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi, both had recorded their statements as witnesses in the case. Earlier, the probe agency had attached fixed deposits worth Rs 7.2 crore belonging to Fernandez. It termed the gifts and properties as “proceeds” of crime received by the two actors.
Last December, the ED had filed its first charge sheet in the matter before the court of Additional Sessions Judge Praveen Singh. Later, in February, it filed a supplementary charge-sheet against one Pinky Irani, an alleged aide of Chandrashekhar who introduced him to Fernandez.
As per the charge sheet, Pinky used to choose expensive gifts for Fernandez and drop them at her residence after Chandrashekhar made the payments.
Sukesh has spent around 20 crore on different models and Bollywood celebrities which a few refused to accept.
Rs 200 cr extortion case: Jacqueline Fernandez, Pinky Irani likely to be grilled together
Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez is likely to join the investigation on Wednesday in connection with the 200 crore extortion cum cheating case involving multimillionaire conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, who is under the investigation of the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police.
The EOW had earlier postponed her questioning on her request and had fixed the matter for today. Pinky Irani, an associate of Fernandez has also been summoned to join the investigation and both are likely to be grilled together.
Sources in the unit said that they have prepared a long list of questionnaire which will be asked to the actress.
“We will ask her about her relationship with Chandrashekar and the gifts, money which she received from the conman. We might confront Irani and Fernandez,” the source said.
There are possibilities that the questioning can go for two or three days. The questions that will be asked to Irani and Fernandez have been prepared by the top brass officials to nail the lies of Chandrashekhar.
Earlier in the first week of September, the EOW officials had recorded the testimony of another Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi in the matter.
Chandrashekhar was arrested for allegedly cheating and extorting money from some high-profile people, including former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh’s wife Aditi Singh. Many Bollywood actors and models have been questioned by the Enforcement Directorate for their alleged links to Chandrashekhar.
In April last year he was arrested in another money laundering case linked to the 2017 Election Commission bribery case, which allegedly involved a former AIADMK leader, among others.
One more shock for Jacqueline Fernandez

Rs 7 Cr assets of Jacqueline Fernandez attached

Sukesh Chandrasekhar was named in a money laundering case and the investigation revealed the relationship between Jacqueline Fernandez and Chandrasekhar. Several intimate pictures of the duo got leaked in the recent months. The actress urged the people not to share the pictures as they are a threat to her private life.
Jacqueline Fernandez to face as many as 50 questions
Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez will have to face as many as 50 questions in connection with a Prevention of Money Laundering case lodged against multimillionaire conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar. Jacqueline will record her statement as a witness. This will be another round of questioning.
Jacqueline was earlier stopped at Mumbai Airport by the authority concerned. She was quizzed at the Mumbai airport for hours and then set free.
On Monday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) once again sent her a summon to join the ongoing probe. She will appear before the ED on Wednesday. The ED officials will record her statement at the MTNL office in Centre Delhi. The questioning can go for more than five hours.
An LOC (look out circular) was issued against the actress by the authority concerned at the request of the ED. The agency had doubts that she might flee the country and hence they had written a letter to the authority concerned.
On Sunday evening, she was about to catch a flight to come to Delhi when she was stopped at the Mumbai airport.
The ED had on Saturday filed a charge sheet under the PMLA Act naming a few Bollywood actors, including Jacqueline as witnesses. The court had taken cognisance of the charge sheet soon after it was filed and had asked the agency to supply the charge sheet copy to all the accused.
The next date in the charge sheet matter is December 13. The ED officials were tight-lipped over the matter.
