In a talk show hosted by a Bollywood film journalist Anupama Chopra, ace producer and director Karan Johar discussed in detail about what is ‘Pan Indian film’ is all about. He opined that the whole terminology of ‘Pan Indian film’ had started with Baahubali. As per Karan Johar, ‘Baahubali-1’ had done 112 crores business, whereas Rajamouli’s previous film ‘Makki’ had done just 1 crore business in Hindi Belt. Karan Johar also opined that every megastar from south or mega director from south cannot repeat this magic all the time or often. “Only Baahubali just had that scale, it had Amar chitra katha quality which helped the film become a runaway hit “he added.

Karan Johar also shared his opinion about current Telugu biggies – RRR and Pushpa. KJ predicts that RRR is going to be opening massively with a 30 crore on First day for Hindi Version alone in India. That is huge, that is pan India he says. They (audience) don’t know NTR in Hindi, they don’t know Ram Charan in Hindi, though they are demigods in Telugu they are not know here in Hindi. Yet, the Rajamouli Brand will be bringing a staggering 30 crores on Day One. “Pan India film” is when all the things fall into place brilliantly just few times, it is not going to be repeated every time Karan says.

Continuing on the subject Karan Johar discussed about Prabhas and Allu Arjun’s Pushpa. Satellite screening, dubbed Telugu films in Hindi market has fetched stardom to Heroes like Prabhas and Allu Arjun. Karan has recollected that when Prabhas visited his office in Mumbai for Baahubali promotion, Karan’s office had witnessed highest number crowd in terms of industry insiders and fans to see Prabhas.

Karan Johar also has all praises for Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa. He says Allu Arjun is huge megastar in Telugu, his last film ‘Ala Vaikunthapuram lo ‘was one of the biggest hits. “Pushpa in Hindi had opened to 3 crores which you would say it is not a big number but there are many films which aren’t opened to that number in this pandemic. Pushpa was not marketed, it was just a cold release with few posters and digital information but his film Pushpa opened well because audience knew Allu Arjun from satellite and dubbed films. The satellite telecast of south films is transforming the stardom to Hindi “opined Karan Johar.

Maverick director Ram Gopal Varma came to the defence of director Karan johar who has been facing onslaught from netizens after the suicide of Bollywood actor Sushant Rajput. It was surprising to see Ram Gopal Varma coming to the rescue of Karan johar given the fact that both were at loggerheads earlier. Ram Gopal Varma , a few years ago ridiculed the scenes from Kuch Kuch hota hai movie and passef sarcastic comments on Karan johar. At that time even Karan johar retaliated on Ram Gopal Varma with sharp comments. Now Ram Gopal Varma defended Karan johar with a series of tweets.

RGV tweeted, ” This got to be the most shocking thing Bollywood ever experiences ..SO YOUNG and SO MUCH LIFE AHEAD and then WHY ??? Blaming @karanjohar for what happened is ridiculous and just shows lack of understanding of how film industry works ..Even assuming Karan had a problem with Sushant it’s his choice of who he wants to work with,like its any film makers choice about who they want to work with. Also all insiders of Bollywood were sometimes outsiders starting from @SrBachchan onwards ..@karanjohar is up there not because he is an insider but because his films are seen by millions ..We all know as much failures coming from film families as much as from outside. Bollywood is hard place becos people want to jump to grab stars and higher they jump the harder they are likely to fall .Sushant atleast grabbed the moon , but what about umpteen others who dint take off from ground ..Are they supposed to kill themselves blaming the universe? There’s no such thing as insiders and outsiders and it’s only audience who decide who they like and dont ..Film families however big they are can never have power to influence the audience and also don’t forget that @karanjohar is becos people made him big and not himself. Of the people who are venomously targeting @karanjohar partly they are outright ignorant of how things work in film industry and partly they hate his success and are just taking advantage of poor Sushanth’s death to vent their suppressed jealousy towards @karanjohar. Will any of the umpteen @karanjohar hating social media warriors chose anybody outside beyond their friends and families ??? It’s fundamental human nature to do only for the near and dear ones. And for all the hue and cry about the super talent being suppressed I will take a bet that 48 hours before now for many many months there wasn’t a single social media comment demanding to see Sushant from all the millions who are now blaming @karanjohar for not showing him. WITHOUT NEPOTISM SOCIETY WILL COLLAPSE BECAUSE NEPOTISM(FAMILIAL LOVE ) IS THE FUNDAMENTAL TENET OF A SOCIAL STRUCTURE..Like u shouldn’t love others wife more, u also shouldnt love others children more. ”

Ram Gopal Varma comments came in the time when other celebrities of Bollywood like Kangana ranaut, Ravina tandon and Abhinav kashyap stated that it is because of some big families Sushant had to commit suicide. After Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar came on to the board for Vijay Devarakonda’s Fighter things changed completely. The film is now a pan Indian project and to impress Bollywood audience widely, Karan Johar insisted the names of several Bollywood actors for crucial roles in this action thriller. The film’s director Puri Jagannadh too is juggling between Hyderabad and Mumbai to meet up the expectations.

The film rolls from January 2020 and Puri, Vijay Devarakonda and Karan Johar are busy finalizing the names of the lead actors. Janhvi Kapoor is already locked to romance Vijay Devarakonda in Fighter. Though the film was initially planned on a strict budget, things changed completely. The regular shoot of Fighter commences from January 2020 and the film releases during summer. The official release date of Fighter too will be announced soon to have a comfortable release in all the languages.

Karan Johar to release book on Sridevi

Filmmaker Karan Johar, who is an admirer of late actress Sridevi, will be unveiling “Sridevi – The Eternal Screen Goddess”, a book based on the life of the Bollywood icon and the first female superstar, here.

The book, written by Satyarth Nayak, was earlier unveiled by actress Deepika Padukone in Delhi.

“I couldn’t have asked for anyone better for the Mumbai launch. Karan has even shared several of his inputs and memories of Sridevi in the book and those have highly enriched my narrative. He has been a vital part of this journey and I am extremely thankful that he has so graciously agreed to launch the book in Mumbai,” Satyarth said.

Karan had tweeted on December 15: “My all time favourite actor….her legacy is irreplaceable ….this book encapsulates her tremendous body of work and the professional and personal lives she gloriously impacted …written by @SatyarthNayak for @PenguinIndia.”

“Sridevi – The Eternal Screen Goddess” will be launched in Mumbai on December 22.

Sridevi is known for giving many hit films including “Sadma”, “Chandni”, “Lamhe”, “English Vinglish” and “Mom”. She had passed away on February 24 last year.

Bollywood top filmmaker Karan Johar watched Vijay Devarakonda’s Dear Comrade in a special screening and decided to remake the film in Hindi. There are speculations that Karan Johar paid Rs 6 crores to acquire the remake rights of the film which is untrue. Vijay Devarakonda reprising the role in Hindi too is not true as the actor did not offer any such commitment. Karan Johar was always keen to introduce actors like Prabhas and Vijay Devarakonda to Hindi audience as they gained enough stardom.

Now with Dear Comrade’s poor show down South and Vijay Devarakonda not ready to play his role in the remake, Karan Johar decided to shelve the project. Karan Johar wanted to share the profits of the remake to Mythri Movie Makers and no agreements have been inked as of now. Hence, Karan Johar would focus on other projects as the remake of Dear Comrade would make no sense as of now.

From Ranbir Kapoor to Deepika Padukone, Malaika Arora and Arjun Kapoor, a gamut of stars came together for Karan Johar’s house party here on Saturday.

Sharing with his fans a glimpse of the star-studded bash, Karan took to Instagram and posted a video in which celebrities, like Deepika, Ranbir, Varun Dhawan and his girl friend Natasha, Zoya Akhtar, Vicky Kaushal, Malaika, Arjun, Ayan Mukerji, Shahid Kapoor and his wife Mira Kapoor, are seen spending enjoying the party at Karan’s residence.

“Saturday night vibes,” Karan captioned the video.

The video, recorded by Karan, begins with Deepika posing with her friend and is followed by Malaika, who winks before the camera moves towards her boyfriend Arjun.

Arjun is seen busy in a conversation with Shahid. Then Karan’s camera captures Varun chatting with filmmaker Zoya.

Filmmaker Karan Johar can’t stop praising S.S. Rajamouli — who he feels has emerged as the “biggest superstar” in Indian cinema — and the phenomenon that “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion” has turned out to be.

Karan had presented the Hindi version of the film.

Talking about the massive success of the movie which has minted over Rs 1500 crore at the global box office, he said: “I feel short of words when I speak about ‘Baahubali’. It has become a milestone film. S.S. Rajamouli has become the country’s biggest superstar.

“I think the filmmaker’s victory is beyond everybody else. I am honoured that me and my production house got associated with ‘Baahubali’ and I am proud and privileged to be a part of its journey.”

He spoke on the sidelines of the success party of his friend Ekta Kapoor’s production “Half Girlfriend” here on Friday night.

Karan also spoke about his birthday celebrations where the who’s who of Bollywood came in.

“It was a private celebration. We had a great time. I am very overwhelmed with all the love which comes my way and I am very grateful for that,” said the writer-filmmaker-chat show host, who turned 45 on Thursday.

Karan also praised the team of “Half Girlfriend”, which he is yet to watch.

Baahubali: The Conclusion has been declared as the India’s biggest motion picture and the makers have taken enough care to get a wide release. Targeting a larger section of audience, the makers have been completely successful as they teamed up with efficient buyers and filmmakers across various territories where Indian cinema has been popular. Bollywood top filmmaker Karan Johar acquired the Hindi rights of the film (across India) and he distributed the film which minted Rs 478.3 crores till date. Baahubali: The Conclusion has been given to Karan on the basis of distribution and he is all set to share 10% of the profits from the theatrical share of the Hindi version which is expected to be between Rs 220-230 crores. Baahubali: The Conclusion made Rs 1596 crores in four weeks in all the released languages and the plans for the China release is currently on. ‘Baahubali 2’ crosses Rs. 100 crore on first day

S.S Rajamouli’s magnum opus “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion netted over Rs. 121 crore at the ticket window in the country on release day. Trade sources say this is the best ever opening for an Indian film. Even filmmaker Karan Johar expressed his joy over the massive opening of the film.

According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the Hindi version of the film collected Rs. 36.54 crore.

“Truly sensational… Rs. 36.54. Hindi,” Taran tweeted on Saturday.

Originally made in Telugu, the second part in the franchise was dubbed in Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam.

Filmmaker Karan Johar, who is presenting the Hindi version of the film, too tweeted his joy over the bumper opening of the film.

The Telugu version of the film netted a whopping Rs. 53 crore, according to trade analyst Trinath.

“The film has taken a phenomenal opening. In Andhra and Telangana, the film in Telugu minted Rs. 53 crore, making it the biggest opening ever for any film across language in the two states. The film is expected to collect over Rs. 100 crore from the two states over the weekend,” he said.

In Tamil Nadu, the film collected around Rs. 12 crore on the first day.

“If the early morning shows were not cancelled across Tamil Nadu on Friday, the film could have collected even more. According to early estimates, it has minted around Rs. 12 crore. It’s going pick up over the weekend…,” Trinath added.

In Kerala, the film is believed to have collected around Rs. 7 crore on Friday.

In the US, from Thursday premieres alone, the film raked in $2.5 million.

The film stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah Bhatia, Sathyaraj and Ramya Krishnan.

Filmmaker Karan Johar has praised director S.S. Rajamouli and says it’s an absolute honour for him to work with the “Baahubali 2” helmer.

Karan, whose home banner Dharma Productions is distributing the Hindi version of the film, took to Twitter and said that Rajamouli is the “movie man” of the decade.

“With the movie man of the decade! S.S. Rajamouli…It’s an honour to collaborate with his genius!! Truly the BEST director of our time!” Karan tweeted alongside a photograph of himself with Rajamouli.

“Baahubali 2: The Conclusion” is the second instalment of the magnum opus “Baahubali: The Beginning”.

The epic fantasy film stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah, Ramya Krishnan and Sathyaraj.

Baahubali: The Conclusion Bollywood Premiere Cancelled

SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali: The Conclusion is one of the most awaited Indian films. The film has been carrying huge buzz and there has been huge crisis for tickets all over. Special premieres have been planned across the country and Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar who acquired the Hindi rights of the film planned a star studded premiere today at 8.30 PM. The whole movie unit including SS Rajamouli, Prabhas, Rana and Anushka are expected to attend the premiere.

However with the sudden demise of veteran actor Vinod Khanna, Karan Johar cancelled the special premiere in Mumbai as a mark of respect for the legendary actor. There has been no update if the film will have a special premiere later. Rajamouli and Prabhas will attend the premiere in Hyderabad today night informed sources. Arka Media Works produced Baahubali: The Conclusion which will release in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam languages.
