KCR seeks to bring together like-minded parties over NRC

0

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao is planning to bring all like-minded parties on one platform over the issue of the National Population Register (NPR) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC), AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi said on Wednesday.

He told reporters after a meeting with the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President that the latter is concerned over the environment being created in the country.

Owaisi, who led a delegation of United Muslim Action Committee, said Rao suggested to them to invite leaders of all parties to the protest meeting scheduled at Nizamabad on December 27.

The Hyderabad MP said leaders of the TRS, the Congress and the Left parties would be invited to the meeting and all the protest programmes would now involve all the parties.

“It is for the Chief Minister to decide,” Owaisi said when asked if the TRS chief would join hands with his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee to bring all parties together on the issue.

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader said that since his party was supporting Rao, they would be with him for any united action plan on the issue.

KCR, as the TRS chief is popularly known, repeatedly impressed upon the delegation that this was not an issue of Muslims alone but of the whole country and the Constitution and hence there is a need to take everybody along. He also stressed the need to maintain peace at any cost.

The delegation, which included leaders from various Muslim organisations, urged KCR not to allow NPR in the state as this was the first step towards NRC. They appeared to him to stay NPR work like Kerala and West Bengal.

Owaisi said they submitted to KCR all documents including the annual report of the Ministry of Home Affairs which clearly mentions that NPR is the first step towards NRC. “(Home Minister) Mr Amit Shah is misleading the country by saying that there is no link between the two,” he said.

He also referred to the statements made by the government in the Parliament and the press release issued by Press Information Bureau (PIB).

Owaisi reiterated that NPR, NRC and Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) all were interlinked. He said in the past when NPR was conducted, it was not linked to citizenship.

Terming the meeting with KCR as satisfactory, he exuded confidence that the Chief Minister will soon take a positive decision on their demand to stay NPR.

Owaisi urges KCR to stay NPR work

0

AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday appealed to Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao to stay work on National Population Register (NPR) as done by the Kerala government.

Addressing a meeting at Mahabubnagar on Tuesday night to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC), he hoped that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government will not allow NPR, which is scheduled to begin in April next year.

“With folded hands I am appealing to the Chief Minister to stop NPR which is not good for the country,” he said, hours after the Union Cabinet gave its approval for NPR.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief lauded TRS for opposing Citizenship Amendment Bill in the Parliament.

“The Chief Minister told me he will not do politics on Hindu-Muslim,” said Owaisi, who along with leaders of United Muslim Action Committee addressed the meeting.

The Hyderabad MP is likely to lead a delegation of Action Committee to meet Chandrashekhar Rao on Wednesday to request him to stay NPR and oppose proposed NRC.

Owaisi slammed both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah for hiding truth relating to NRC, NPR and detention centres.

“CAA, NPR and NRC are all interlinked. What they (Modi and Shah) are saying is untrue,” he said.

The MP even played an audio of Amit Shah’s statement in Lok Sabha that NRC will definitely be carried out across the country as it was part of BJP’s election manifesto.

Owaisi said the same was said in the Presidential address to both houses of Parliament and Modi himself stated it an interview to a television channel.

He also disputed their claim on detention centres. He recalled that then Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had stated that a detention centre was being built in Navi Mumbai.

“A detention centre is being built in Karanataka while in Assam a detention centre of the size of seven football fields is being constructed,” he said.

Owaisi quoted from the website of Union Ministry of Home Affairs to say that NPR is the first step towards creation of NRC.

“Then Minister of State for Home Kiren Rejiju had also told Parliament on November 26, 2014 that NPR is the first step towards NRC,” he said.

Explaining the link between NPR and NRC, Owaisi said under NPR even a low-rank official could write a remark that the information provided by a household is doubtful and depending on this such names will be deleted from NRC.

He claimed that CAA is aimed at ensuring that all the non-Muslims missing from NRC are granted citizenship. He referred to the state by Assam’s Finance Minister that 5.4 lakh Bengali Hindus, who were missing from NRC, would get citizenship under CAA.

He said it was unfortunate that Modi did not say anything about 18 people killed in Uttar Pradesh, two in Karnataka and the police excesses on students of Jamia Millia Islamia and Aligarh Muslim University.

Owaisi alleged that innocent people were killed in the excesses committee by police in Uttar Pradesh. He demanded independent judicial probe into the killings.

Birthday exposes KCR-Jagan’s strained relations!

0

AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy had celebrated his birthday in a grand manner on Saturday (yesterday).

However, his birthday has exposed the ‘increasing gap’ between Jagan and Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao.

This is because, KCR did not bother to greet Jagan on his birthday.

Normally, the Telangana Chief Minister’s Office (KCR’s office) sends a press release to media organizations conveying KCR’s wishes to prominent people.

But this time, KCR’s office remained silent.

Interestingly, KCR’s son and IT Minister KT Rama Rao and TRS Rajya Sabha MP Joginapally Santhosh Kumar greeted Jagan through Twitter.

This triggered speculations that KCR is not happy with Jagan especially after he announced his own plans to link Krishna and Godavari rivers and ignoring the KCR’s plan on Krishna-Godavari linkage.

KCR is also learnt to be unhappy with the statement of Jagan on Pothireddypadu project as TRS waged its battle for Telangana statehood by highlighting Pothireddypadu issue during previous Congress regime in Undivided AP.

KCR hikes liquor prices in Telangana by 20%

0

Liquor is all set to give more kick to Telangana coffers as Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to increase prices of liquor in all categories by 20 per cent.

KCR’s decision is estimated to give an additional revenue of Rs 400 crore to state exchequer per year.

The Telangana government is reeling under severe financial crunch for the past few months.

KCR took this decision to hike liquor prices to earn more revenues for the state government and beat recession.

KCR has been viewing liquor as the main source of income for Telangana government.

The TS government is already earning nearly Rs 20,000 crore through excise tax and VAT on sale of liquor.

While all other revenue-generating sectors are feeling the pinch of recession in Telangana, the liquor income is increasing consistently with increased liquor consumption in Telangana.

This is a bad news for boozers ahead of New Year, when liquor sales in Telangana break all the records.

The increases prices will come into effect from December 18.

KTR Telangana CM in 2020? KCR to go to Delhi

0

A national English daily has reported on a serious consideration before KCR to make his son KTR the Chief Minister of Telangana as early as possible. If all goes well, this power transition will take place in the early 2020. It means that in just three to four months, the big event may take place. The KTR followers are already working carefully to achieve this goal. KCR is also not reacting against these developments and rumours. On his part, KT Rama Rao has talked about his achievements and contributions to the party success all through. He has proved his efficiency in all tasks and responsibilities given by KCR so far.

Moreover, KTR is referring to how Rahul Gandhi became Congress president though it has got experienced leaders. He is obviously countering possible criticism from the Opposition Congress in advance against his taking over as CM. Minister T Harish Rao has also said that he will be working under KTR leadership. He would respect any decision taken by KCR in the interests of the party. This has triggered rumours what KCR will do after KTR becomes CM. Will he go to Delhi? Political analysts say that TRS boss plan to play a decisive role in national politics failed because of the failure of his Federal Front. Moreover, KCR’s only partner Jaganmohan Reddy is not fully cooperating with him anymore.

Leave Rythu Bandhu, KCR denies even PM’s Kisan Sammaan to TS farmers!

0

Everyone knows how KCR benefitted from Rythu Bandhu scheme more than farmers in Telangana.

He introduced the scheme just before Assembly polls in December 2018 and stormed to power for the second term on the back of Rythu Bandhu.

After elections are over and his purpose served, KCR is now ignoring Rythu Bandhu citing paucity of funds.

Not even 50 per cent of the farmers in Telangana received Rythu Bandhu for kharif this year so far though rabi season has begun. Farmers lost hopes on getting Rythu Bandhu for rabi completely as they are yet to get for kharif.

Poor farmers in Telangana are anyway losing Rythu Bandhu. They are now losing even the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s version of Rythu Bandhu scheme known as PM Kisan Sammaan scheme due to bad governance of KCR.

Under PM’s scheme, 14-lakh farmers are yet to receive Rs 2000 in their bank accounts.

The Centre has deposited Rs 2000 under the scheme in respect of 24-lakh farmers under the scheme and could not do so for 14 lakh farmers because of the wrong details sent by the Telangana agriculture department.

The department is now taking corrective measures to send the correct details to the Center in a few days.

AP Disha Act widens gap between KCR and Jagan

0

Many state governments are praising the AP Disha Act made by Jagan Reddy government to give death penalty within 21 days of a rape incident. Delhi Mahila Commission Chairperson Swathi Maliwal demanded that the AP Dosha Act should be implemented all over the country. In just one stroke, CM Jagan Reddy stole all the credit that came to KCR after the risky encounter killings of the four accused persons. Now, Telangana police and KCR Circar are struggling hard to overcome investigations ordered by the Supreme Court and the NHRC. On the other hand, Jagan Reddy is coolly enjoying the rising wave of praise from all over the country for his Act.

In fact, legal experts say that Jagan law is practically unimplementable. It’s not possible to gather evidence and file charge sheet in 7 days. The court trial will also take longer than 21 days. If there’s one small missing link in crime scene, it would take months to complete investigation. This sort of populist, impractical gestures from Jagan are causing non-stop embarrassment to KCR. The same happened in respect of RTC employees merger with the government. This is why KCR is maintaining silence on Jagan Disha Act. Political analysts say that KCR is very angry at Jagan but he will not immediately react against AP CM. KCR’s immediate and only priority is to block BJP from getting a foothold in the state. He knows that any small mistake on TRS part may give undue advantage to BJP.

Jagan caught in Modi-KCR crossfire: RK Kothapaluku

The increasing differences between Modi-Shah duo and Telangana CM K Chandrasekhara Rao are creating bigger problems for AP CM Jaganmohan Reddy. Modi recently told his party MPs that their party would form the next government in Telangana. TRS leaders are equally launching counter attacks on BJP. In between, Jagan Reddy is not able to maintain previous friendly relations with KCR. AP CM is fearing that any closeness with KCR will anger the BJP Delhi leaders. This would not be good for him because of the Rs. 43,000 cr CBI illegal assets cases. At the same time, KCR is also very unhappy with Jagan Reddy’s U-turn on the Godavari-Krishna river linking project. ABN managing director Radha Krishna, in his Kothapaluku column, says that KCR is citing this as the immediate reason for his unhappiness with Jagan.

RK says that bitterness between Jagan and KCR reached a point of no return. As a result, both of them are maintaining a safe distance. Jagan Reddy has also stopped frequently visiting his Lotus Pond residence in Hyderabad. He is taking all precautions not to hurt KCR badly because of his properties and financial interests in Telangana Capital. KCR is also waiting for his opportunity to take advantage out of Jagan Reddy’s Hyderabad interests.

KCR is on my radar, Modi tells TS BJP MPs!

0

Prime Minister Narendra Modi told BJP MPs that TRS chief and Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao was very much on his radar and he was keenly observing all the ‘political moves’ being made by KCR.

Modi expressed this view when BJP MPs complained to him that KCR opposed Citizenship Amendment Bill in Parliament only to please his friendly party AIMIM.

Modi interacted with TS BJP MPs for about 15 minutes in the Parliament premises on Friday.

Modi exuded confidence that BJP will come to power in Telangana in 2023 Assembly polls and asked Telangana BJP leaders to work hard to achieve the goal.

He inquired about the latest political developments in TS.

Modi also inquired about the recent Disha rape incident and subsequent encounter of the four accuses in the case.

When BJP MPs pointed out that TRS voted against CAB in Parliament, Modi replied that it was expected.

Modi told them that family-controlled parties in the country like TRS are losing their existence and the same will happen in Telangana.

Now, KCR to hike power charges!

1

After hiking TSRTC bus fares recently, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar is gearing up to hike power charges and impose further burden on Telangana people.

The Telangana power distribution companies have submitted proposals to CM to hike power tariff in 2020-21 and are going to submit the proposals to the electricity regulatory commission once the CM gives his approval to the tariff hike.

If the CM approves the tariff hike, the distribution companies will submit their annual revenue requirements reports. Ever since Telangana comes into being, power charges were not hiked for domestic consumers.

However, soon after the formation of Telangana, the government hiked the tariff for certain categories.

According to a conservative estimate, the deficit between the revenue and expenditure of the Discoms is going to cross Rs 11000 crore -mark by next year.

The Discoms are mired in difficulties but somehow managed to keep its head above water with the cooperation of the government.

During internal review of the finances, the Discoms have opined that there should be marginal rise in tariff to ensure their financial viability.

BJP discrediting KCR on encounter: Jagan remarks

0

The BJP is hell-bent on taking advantage of the Shadnagar encounter to hit the two Telugu CMs, K Chandrasekhara Rao and YS Jaganmohan Reddy, in one shot. Especially, Jagan Reddy’s open credit to KCR in AP Assembly is complicating the encounter case for TRS. The TRS Ministers have also sung praise of KCR after the killing of Disha accused which is viewed instant justice to the girl’s parents. BJP leader Raghunandan Rao is now saying that Jagan’s comments gave strength to the speculation that the Telangana police have killed the four accused in a fake encounter. Rao says that such comments by a CM will certainly complicate the encounter case at the national level. The courts and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) will not take a positive view of this.

What more, Raghunandan has also indicated that a CBI enquiry may also be ordered into the encounter killings because of the rising suspicions. Raghunandan was once a close friend of KCR but now turned a bitter after joining the BJP. Going by the present mood at the Centre, the Modi-Shah may also take a critical look at the encounter issue. Political analysts say that if CBI enquiry is ordered, the TRS government is sure to face a tricky situation. KCR has angered Modi-Shah by ordering TRS MPs to oppose the Citizenship Amendment Bill in the Parliament. Everything doesn’t look well for KCR Circar.

TRS MLA embarrasses KCR, decries Disha rape accused encounter!

0

While everyone is praising Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for the encounter of the four accused in the brutal gang rape and murder of Disha, his own party MLA took a contrasting stand.

Surprisingly, it was woman MLA who came out with a divergent stand on encounter of Disha accused.

TRS MLA from Alair Gongidi Sunita kicked off a row by terming the encounter as ‘painful’ on Tuesday

She was addressing a meeting at Alair when she made these remarks.

She even conveyed her heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families of the accused.

She said parents of the youth killed in the encounter should have pained at the incident. Her video became viral on the Internet putting ruling TRS in an embarrassing situation.

Interestingly, neighbouring AP CM YS Jaganmohan Reddy lauded KCR and said “hats off to KCR” for giving instant justice to Disha through encounter on the floor of the AP Legislative Assembly.

KCR disputes Centre’s claim of no slowdown impact

0

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao on Saturday disputed the Centre’s claim that there is no impact of the economic slowdown in the country.

He said the Centre is making tall claims on a daily basis, both in the Parliament and outside, that there is no effect of economic slowdown in the country, but the facts are quite different.

Stating that there is a decline in the funds received from the Centre towards the state’s share in taxes, he said there is no match between what the Central ministers are proclaiming in the Parliament and the ground realities.

He warned that if this situation continues, the state’s financial position may turn grave.

KCR, as the Chief Minister’s is popularly known, said that the economic situation is in a state of uncertainty and asked the Principal Secretary (finance) to decrease funds for all the departments in tune with the decrease in funds from the Centre. He also instructed all the departments to reduce expenditure.

Tthe Chief Minister also dashed a letter to Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, urging her to release funds to the state as stipulated in the Budget or else declare the facts.

KCR is also planning to visit Delhi in the next five-six days to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Sitharaman to apprise them of the difficulties faced by the state with funds not being released from the Centre.

According to an official statement, the review meeting conducted by the Chief Minister with top officials on Saturday felt that faulty polices of the Centre led to the present difficult situation.

It was noted that the Centre announced in the 2019-20 Budget that it will give Rs 19,719 crore to Telangana towards the state’s share in taxes. This is 6.2 per cent more than Rs 18,560 crore allocated in the 2018-19 Budget.

“However, till date the Centre gave Rs 224 crore less. This would mean that as against 6.2 per cent hike as proposed in the current financial year Budget, there is in fact a decline of 2.13 per cent,” the statement said.

Principal Secretary (finance) Ramakrishna Rao recently visited Delhi and brought to the notice of the Central government officials that Telangana got 8.3 per cent less on the tax share account. He said due to the decrease in the funds allocation, several schemes in the state would face difficulties.

Responding to him, the Central government officials said the situation is grim and cautioned that the decrease may well go up from 8.3 per cent to 15 per cent.

The meeting observed that the Centre also failed to give Rs 2,812 crore IGST funds as part of GST for 2017-18.

Also, the state is yet to receive Rs 1,719 crore GST compensation dues from the Centre.

Modi-Shah power game to cripple KCR-Jagan duo

0

The BJP is on a new mission to reduce the influence of regional parties. The Modi government has fully operationalised a strategy to cut Central funds to both KCR and Jagan Reddy governments significantly. This is aimed at creating financial crisis that will make the two CMs unable to fulfill their countless promises to the voters. Modi-Shah are of the opinion that the regional parties are making impractical promises to attract voters. This tendency is increasing in different states and it is badly hurting the overall country’s economy. Especially, the Modi government is very critical of the single-point welfare agenda of Jagan Reddy Circar without any scope for developmental goals.

In the past six months, the Central government has steadily cut down its funds to both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Both the Telugu Chief Ministers have made many requests to PM but there has been no improvement. In recent days, the Modi-Shah have begun putting KCR-Jagan duo at a distance. Political circles see this as a calculated move on the part of BJP to counter the two CMs’ future strategies. BJP is suspecting that KCR-Jagan are still giving funds to regional parties in other states. If this is true, Modi-Shah may take a more serious hard line against Telugu CMs.

Modi’s shocker to KCR: No PM’s appointment

0

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao got a shocker in New Delhi on Tuesday after the Prime Minister’s Office has refused to give appointment to KCR to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

With this, KCR was forced to return Hyderabad from New Delhi late on Tuesday without meeting Modi.

It may be recalled that KCR went to Delhi on Monday to meet Modi to pursue the issue of setting up of an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in Hyderabad besides other pending bifurcation-related issues concerning Telangana.

Official sources said the PMO did not confirm Modi’s appointment to CM on Tuesday citing PM’s busy schedule on account of ongoing winter session of Parliament and Jharkhand Assembly polls.

Modi on Tuesday kickstarted his campaign for Jharkhand Assembly polls by addressing public meetings.

PMO reportedly told CMO officials that it would not be possible for Modi to meet KCR till the parliament session ends on December 13.

Though KCR expressed willingness to stay in Delhi till Wednesday if he gets PM’s appointment, there was no positive response from the PMO.

With this, KCR returned to Hyderabad without meeting the PM.

The CM is expected to visit Delhi again after the parliament session to meet Modi.

TRS sources said that KCR has to attend few weddings of kith and kin of TRS leaders close to him in Hyderabad on Wednesday due to which he has decided to return to city on Tuesday.

This development triggered speculations that BJP central leadership is avoiding KCR under pressure from Telangana BJP leaders.

BJP is trying to emerger as alternative to TRS by 2023 Assembly polls.

Modi and Amit Shah have laid special focus to weaken TRS in Telangana by then and grab power in the state.

Can KCR bring IIM to Hyd this time?

0

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday left for New Delhi all of a sudden to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

His sudden visit has fuelled speculations over KCR attempting to get closer to BJP and Modi again.

However, TRS sources rubbished these speculations saying that KCR’s Delhi visit has no ‘political significance’.

They said, the sole purpose of KCR’s visit is to get approval of PM for setting up the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), the premier management institutions in the country, in Hyderabad.

KCR is expected to get appointment of Modi on Tuesday.

The PM is expected to give a formal approval for setting up an IIM in Hyderabad, during the meeting with the CM.

Telangana state government has been requesting the Centre to sanction an IIM to Telangana for the past two years.

During his previous meeting with Modi in October first week, KCR again raised this issue and submitted a memorandum to PM in this regard. The PM has referred the issue to the union ministry of human resource development.

The proposal for setting up the IIM was expedited after the Prime Minister’s Office referred the issue to the UMHRD in November last week asking it to take a decision on the requests received from the Telangana State which includes one from the state’s Chief Minister. A week was given to the UMHRD to come to a decision.

Following this, it is learnt that the union ministry of human resource development had prepared a proposal for setting up IIM in Hyderabad and a Cabinet note has been readied for approval.

KCR finally breaks his silence on Priyanka’s murder

0

Finally, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has found time to respond on the brutal rape of murder of Dr Priyanka Reddy, which happened in his own state ruled by him.

Though national leaders like Rahul Gandhi, top political leaders in other states including TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, union ministers, top actors, actresses of Bollywood, Tollywood expressed their shock and anguish at the incident and demanded corporal punishment for the rapists, KCR chose to remain silent.

Telangana governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, who happens to be the first citizen of the state, also made personal visit to Priyanka Reddy’s house on Saturday to console the family members but KCR did not even respond even four days after the ghastly incident took place.

Finally on Sunday, KCR broke his silence on Priyanka’s issue. During a meeting held with RTC workers at Pragathi Bhavan, CM spoke about Priyanka Reddy’s murder and expressed his shock and anguish over the incident.

KCR has instructed the officials that the accused of Dr Priyanka Reddy’s ghastly murder should be inquired on a fast track and the culprits should be given stringent punishment.

The CM also decided to set up a fast track court to deal with the case. The CM has asked the officials concerned to take measures on the issue. In the minor girl murder case in Warangal, due to setting up of the fast track court, the verdict came after 56 days trail. The CM felt that in Dr Priyanka Reddy case too, the verdict should come quickly. The CM announced that the government would extend all the necessary help and support to members of Dr Priyanka Reddy’s family.

Earlier, the CM described the incident as ghastly and expressed his deep anguish. He was upset that the perpetrators of such heinous crimes are living amidst us. He said Dr Priyanka Reddy’s murder was a gruesome and an inhuman act.

KCR showers sops on TSRTC & employees!

0

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao showered sops on TSRTC and its employees. Holding his first meeting with RTC workers at Pragathi Bhavan today after RTC staff called off their 54-day long strike which led to bitter fight between KCR and RTC workers, the CM announced several sops for the strengthening of RTC and for the benefit of employees.

KCR announced increase in the retirement age of RTC workers from 58 years to 60 years besides Rs 1,000 crore funds to RTC in the State Annual Budget every year.

KCR has categorically said that employment security will be given to the TSRTC workers, not even one TSRTC employee will be sacked from the employment and not even one private bus will be permitted to operate even in a single RTC bus’s route. From next year on wards, Rs 1000 Crore will provided in the State Budget to the TSRTC. The CM desired that the RTC should become profitable in the next four months, every year it should earn Rs 1000 crore profit and the RTC employees should get Rs one Lakh annual bonus. The CM announced that the September salaries of the RTC employees and workers would be paid this Monday. He also announced that salaries for the strike period would also be paid at one go. The CM also announced that the RTC employees and workers retirement age is increased from 58 years to 60 years.

Five workers representatives from each depot from the 97 depots took part in the meeting. No unions or union leaders were called for the meeting as CM stated that he will not forgive employees unions and leaders who forced ‘illegal strike’ on RTC.

KCR to form his ‘own force’ in TSRTC!

0

After resolving 52-long TSRTC strike with a ‘masterstroke’ on Thursday, TRS supremo and Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao has now set his eyes on finishing off employees unions in TSRTC.

KCR now wants to replace employees unions in TSRTC with his own force.

KCR has decided to set up Employees Welfare Council in each RTC depot.

These councils will come up in all the 97 depots belonging to TSRTC.

In each council, five members will be appointed as members, in which two will be women,

No need to say who will get these posts, if a ruling party decides to appoint them.

These five members in each depot will take care of respective depots in all the districts.

To begin with, KCR has decided to hold a meeting with employees of each depot on December 1 at Pragathi Bhavan.

Officials were directed to send five employees from each depot, with whom KCR will hold discussions on how to strengthen TSRTC.

RTC employees from all the 97 depots will have to attend the meeting.

KCR will host a lunch for these employees and will have lunch with them.

The aim of this meeting is to finish off RTC unions in TSRTC.

KCR wants no union to exist in TSRTC here after.

There will be only Employees Welfare Councils and the members in these councils will be selected by the government.

In this way, KCR wants to increase TRS hold on RTC by setting up his ‘own force’.

KCR gives ‘happy ending’ to TSRTC strike

0

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday gave an ‘happy ending’ to the 52-day long strike observed by TSRTC employees.

Addressing a press conference at Pragathi Bhavan after the cabinet meeting held on Thursday, the CM announced to take back all the RTC employees back into jobs ‘unconditionally’.

The CM also announced increase in bus ticket fares by 20 paise per kilometer across all the TSRTC bus services to mobilise funds for the financially ailing corporation. The increased fares will come into effect from Monday.

KCR stated that the RTC will earn over Rs 800 crore per year with the hike in ticket fares.

The CM also announced Rs 100 crore for RTC to pay salaries for staff.

The staff were not paid salaries since September.

Over 48,000 RTC staff went on indefinite strike since October 5. They called off their strike after 52 days on November 25.

The government declared their strike as ‘illegal’ and announced that 48,000 staff lost their jobs due to their participation in the illegal strike.

Though CM gave three opportunities for staff to rejoin duties since the strike began, the staff ignored and continued the strike.

When the RTC unions announced withdrawal of strike on November 25 and announced to rejoin duties from November 26, the government refused to take them back saying that the matter is under the purview of the Labour Court and everyone has to wait till the court give its verdict.

Though several petitions were filed in the High Court over the issue, the HC dismissed all the petitions and referred the issue to the Labour court last week.

In between, KCR announced to privatise the RTC and the cabinet even approved to privatise 5,100 RTC routes.

However, all these decisions have been kept on hold now.

KCR took a ‘dramatic decision’ today restoring the jobs of all the striking staff ‘unconditionally’.

He even promised to give a job to one of family members of RTC staff who died or committed suicide during the strike.

Over 30 deaths were reported across the state during the strike.
