RTI exposed KCR government favors to KCR media

Gone are the days when media owners refused government ads as receiving such ads will make the respective media lose the right of questioning governments. But nowadays all media channels depend on government ads as a source of income. Even more dangerous situation is when supremos of government themselves having their own media. Recently, a private media obtained some interesting data regarding KCR government’s favors to KCR’s media through RTI.

Currently there are 3 media outlets are with KCR’s family

  • Namasthe Telangana, Telugu paper
  • Telangana Today, English paper
  • TNews

KCR, launched Namasthe Telangana in June 2011 during Telangana movement. KTR was on the board (Telangana Publications Private Limited)initially but he quit after becoming a minister. His wife, Shailini Kalvakuntla is now on the board. Telangana Today, English daily, launched in 2016, also run by Telangana Publications Private Limited. TNews was started by KCR in 2010 and he too was board member but he resigned from the board after becoming the chief minister. The response of the Information and Public Relations Department of the Government of Telangana to an RTI application seeking details of ad expenditure revealed some interesting facts:

Telugu dailies :

Namasthe Telangana ad revenue increased from 2.63 crores to 12.8 crores i.e. 387.4% increase from 2017 to 2018. At the same time, other papers had marginal improvements or Cuts.

Eenadu got 2.7 crores in 2017 as well as 2018 (just 0.1% improvement). Nava Telangana, a paper run by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has seen a cut of 67.5%, from 17.9 lakhs to 5.8 lakhs. Mana Telangana, faced a reduction of 88.2%, from 47.8 lakhs to 5.7 lakhs. Vaartha faced -47.4% cuts. Andhra Prabha -6.2% cuts. Surprisingly Andhra Jyothy got 296.8% improvement in ad revenue from T-govt (from 45.6 lakhs in 2016 to 1.8 crore in 2018).

English dailies:

Similar trend observed with English papers. Telangana Today, the English newspaper, has seen an increase of 1749.2%.

Telangana Today (1,749.2%) ad revenue improved from 4.7 lakhs in 2017 to 87.3 lakhs in 2018. All the other papers have faced cuts ranging from 2% to 94%. All the papers in Hindi, Urdu and English have faced cuts. Deccan Chronicle (-30.4%), The Hindu (-34.5%), Times of India (-34.5%), Indian Express (-29.0%), Economic Times (-92%) – all these English papers lost revenues while KCR owned Telangana today saw whopping improvement of 1,749%.

TV Channels:

A similar scenario seems to prevail in the television sector. While KCR owned T-news got 2044 spots from T-government, TV9 got 958, NTV 870, Sakshi 879, ETV Telangana 978. Only channel to get more than 1000 spots was V6, promoted by a TRS legislator and industrialist, which got 1260.

Finally:

So, be it Telugu dailies or English dailies or TV, it is clear that KCR’s government has favored their own media and the gap between revenues to his media and to other media also wide. Probably this is bound to happen when anyone having his own media becomes chief minister and runs the government.

Prof Nageshwar – Why KCR’s battle cry for early polls

KCR challenged opposition to be ready for early polls. There are political reasons why Telangana CM is expressing willingness for early polls. The Telangana chief Minister makes this statement after meeting the Prime Minister. Narendra Modi has already pitched for simultaneous elections to Parliament and Assemblies indicating a possibility of holding Parliament polls along with the elections to state Assemblies in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

Notwithstanding the predictions about advancing polls , KCR’s remarks assume political significance in an election year.

The opposition camp is yet to be consolidated with TDP unsure of allying with congress. The Congress in Telangana has been toying with the idea of uniting anti KCR forces to the extent possible. The state Congress hopes to rally TDP , Telangana Jana Samithi headed by Kodandaram and the CPI. The CPI(M) has already distanced itself from such a possible opposition combine. However, such a Bihar type Mahagatbandhan is yet to take shape . The question of whether or not the TDP ally with Congress does not depend upon Telangana politics. Though the Telangana TDP seems to be keen on forging an alliance with Congress, ultimately, this depends solely on the politics in Andhra Pradesh.

The congress party is still not poll ready with the party high command yet to complete organisational churning by uniting multiple factions within the party. There are too many claimants for the post of state congress chief , though the political situation is still not ripe for the Congress to comeback in the state. The party has to reconcile not only between different groups within the party, but even has to take along the newly inducted leaders. This will certainly take some time . Perhaps, the chief minister wishes to attack the opposition before it can mobilise its forces and get ready for early polls.

The Rythu Bandhu scheme which meant a direct transfer of rupees 8000 per acre for two cropping seasons is already underway. TRS is confident that such a massive transfer of Rs 12,000 crores to farmers will yield rich electoral dividend.

Though there is sporadic discontent in certain sections, there is no visible anti incumbency against KCR government making him battle ready.

If the elections are held as per schedule, the issue of remunerative prices for farmers would come to fore. Now, the government enjoys the positive image due to its capital support scheme. The ruling party , perhaps, fears that this favourable atmosphere would be lost once if the farmers do not get better prices for their produce. The last season saw sporadic farmers protest over the issue of remunerative prices.

Besides, there is also discontent among other sections like the unemployed youth etc. The ruling party enjoys the advantage of this discontent not evolving into an anti incumbency. The TRS wants to reap the harvest before any such thing happens.

KCR hints at early polls

0

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday said he was ready to go for early elections and dared the opposition to face the same.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief, who met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on June 15, said the elections may be advanced.

Rao said the leaders of his party and even people were ready for early elections. He exuded confidence that TRS will win over 100 seats in 119-member state assembly.

Elections to Telangana assembly are scheduled in April-May next year along with Lok Sabha polls but ever since the TRS chief’s meeting, there have been reports of the polls being advanced.

Modi is understood to have hinted that simultaneous polls to Lok Sabha and state assemblies of Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana could be conducted by November-December.

KCR, as Rao is popularly known, held meetings with TRS leaders during last few days to discuss the possibility of early elections and to review the preparedness of the party.

On Sunday, KCR formally admitted former minister Danam Nagender into the TRS. Nagender, who quit the Congress two days ago, joined the ruling party along with his followers.

Speaking on the occasion, KCR said all surveys show that TRS will win the next elections as the party was striving to achieve the goal of golden Telangana.

He slammed the opposition parties for criticizing the government. Alleging the opposition parties were unable to digest the number of welfare and development schemes launched by the TRS government during last four years, he challenged them to face the early elections.

Telangana CM meets PM, seeks Rs 20,000 cr for Kaleshwaram

0

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and urged him to provide Rs 20,000 crore for the Kaleshwaram lift irrigation project being built across the Godavari river.

During the hour-long meeting, the Chief Minister brought to the notice of the Prime Minister various demands pending with the Central government since the formation of the state four years ago.

Stating that Kaleshwaram is a lifeline for Telangana, Rao said the project being built at an estimated cost of Rs 80,000 crore aims to irrigate 18 lakh acres across 20 districts and provide water for drinking and industrial purposes.

The Chief Minister told Modi that in addition to the Rs 25,000 crore budgetary provision for the project, the state government obtained Rs 22,000 crore loans from financial institutions. He urged Modi to extend financial help of Rs 20,000 crore.

This was Rao’s first meeting with Modi since the former floated the idea of a federal front as an alternative to both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief has met leaders of various regional parties in the past few months to mobilize support for the proposed front.

KCR, as the TRS chief is popularly known, submitted 10 memorandums to Modi, listing various pending issues. According to the Chief Minister’s Office, the Prime Minister responded positively to the issues raised by him.

KCR told Modi that even four years after the formation of Telangana, the state is yet to have its own high court and requested one at the earliest.

The TRS chief informed him that out of 29 judges of the common high court at Hyderabad for both the Telugu states, only six are from Telangana.

“The Union Law Minister had given an assurance on the floor of Parliament to expedite the process to have a separate high court. The process may be expedited, and the Law Ministry may be directed to take immediate steps for establishment of separate high court for the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh without any further delay,” he said.

KCR sought adequate funds to the state to develop the Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) in Hyderabad, as per the already approved scheme.

Expressing dismay over Union Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad’s recent statement that the Central government has dropped the ITIR scheme, KCR said if the government does not implement the ITIR scheme even after launching it five years ago, it will dent the credibility of the government.

He pointed out that the state government had submitted a Detailed Project Report (DPR) delineating land parcels to be covered under ITIR and identifying trunk Infrastructure Projects related to the land parcels. Some anchor companies have already started setting up industries.

KCR urged Modi to issue a new Presidential Order, incorporating the new zonal system finalized by the state government. The zonal system is aimed at ensuring equitable opportunities to the people belonging to different parts of the state.

Stating that the railway network in Telangana is below the national average, KCR called for early completion of various critical railway projects.

The TRS chief also urged the Prime Minister to direct the Defence Ministry to expedite the proposal of transfer of defence lands for construction of new Secretariat building and for the Strategic Road Development project.

KCR called for sanctioning an Indian Institute of Management for Telangana and for setting up an Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) in Karimnagar.

Muslims should emerge as political force, says Owaisi

0

MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday said Muslims should emerge as political force to get their rights in the country.

He said he believes this will strengthen the country, the roots of secularism and restore confidence among Muslims.

Addressing a meeting at the historic Mecca Masjid on the last Friday of Ramadan, he said the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) will continue its political journey to expand in different parts of the country despite the allegations from its rivals that it is dividing secular votes.

Stating that MIM did not contest elections in Karnataka and extended support to Janta Dal-Secular as a strategy, Owaisi said the outcome proved their strategy right. He revealed that JD-S leader (and now Chief Minister) H.D. Kumaraswamy had offered MIM a seat but he declined.

The Hyderabad MP said Muslims could no longer trust the Congress. “The Congress is finished. A man who spent 50 years in Congress and was President of India visited RSS headquarters. Do you still have hopes from this party,” he asked referring to Pranab Mukherjee’s visit to RSS headquarters on Thursday.

Owaisi said there was need to think of an alternate to the Bharatiya Janata Party, other than the Congress. “The alternate is regional parties and they have to be strengthened,” he said referring to the proposal of Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao for a federal front as alternative to both BJP and Congress and to bring qualitative change in the country’s politics.

Owaisi slammed Mukherjee for visiting RSS headquarters and calling RSS founder K.B. Hedgewar a great son of India. He said the man who held the highest constitutional post in the country should know that it was Hedgewar who had asked RSS workers not to fight British and who had stated that India is a country of Hindus.

The MIM president also lashed out at Congress for terming Mukherjee’s speech at the RSS meet as “sagacious”. He reminded Congress that RSS cadre had celebrated when Mahatma Gandhi was killed by Nathuram Godse.

Owaisi alleged that both BJP and Congress were hoodwinking the people, who were worried over skyrocketing prices of petroleum products and lack of jobs.

The MIM chief voiced concern over growing number of attacks on Muslims. He said repression was let loose on the community in the name of the cow since BJP came to power in the country four years ago. “As many as 28 people were killed in these four years in the name of cow,” he said.

Quoting statistics of Union Home Ministry, Owaisi said the communal riots had increased by 24 per cent. There were 8,890 incident of communal riots in which 390 people were killed and 9,000 injured.

He alleged that the BJP government created an environment of hatred towards Muslims and a message was being given that Muslims are responsible for Partition and that they are not loyal to this country.

Owaisi said Prime Minister Narendra Modi greets Muslims on Ramadan and speaks about ‘zakat’ in his ‘Mann ki Baat’ programme but he had failed to discharge his responsibilities as a ruler.

The MP said if the excesses on Muslims continued, this will result in the Constitution being thrown to the wind and there will be no rule of law.

KCR’s 4-day match in Delhi ends in 1 day!

5

Telangana State CM Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao’s 4-day Delhi Tour has been abruptly called off on the first day itself. This development did raise some eyebrows in the political circles. After the State Cabinet Meet last evening in Hyderabad, KCR flew to Delhi today morning to discuss the ‘New Zonal System’ for government jobs with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

KCR met Central Home Minister Rajnath Singh and discussed the same today morning. Close sources confirmed that the TS CM also brought up the unfulfilled commitments that were inducted in the AP Bifurcation Bill. KCR’s 4-day tour also included one-on-one meetings with PM Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind.

Despite the valiant efforts, KCR failed to secure Modi’s appointment. Sources close to the PMO office stated that PM’s foreign tour is the reason behind the rejection of the appointment. Without meeting the President, the TS CM returned back to Hyderabad in the evening.
While this might be a common thing in general, the current political environment doesn’t let us see it that way. Only time will tell whether it was coincidence, or just the unwillingness from 7, Lok Kalyan Marg (PM’s official residence).

Federal Front will be game changer: Kavitha

1

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) is confident that the proposed Federal Front will emerge as a strong alternative political platform before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections and will be a “game changer”, a party leader said on Tuesday.

The formation of the Federal Front — an anti-BJP and anti-Congress platform mooted by TRS chief and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao — is under process, said his daughter and party MP K. Kavitha.

“Our country needs an alternative political platform which is non-BJP and non-Congress. The Federal Front is an idea to get into an alliance wherein both these parties did not perform to the expectations of the people,” she told reporters at the Indian Women’s Press Corps (IWPC) here.

Kavitha, the first woman MP from Telangana who represents Nizamabad, said that the party supremo was in talks with like-minded people and the front agenda will soon be put before the public.

“The TRS as a party does not believe in north-south divide. KCR has reached out to not just southern leaders but also Mamata Banerjee and Akhilesh Yadav as well. The situation and equation will determine who all are going to be part of this platform,” she said.

On TRS’s equation with the BJP, Kavitha said that the TRS has maintained cordial relations with the Centre and not with an individual party in power.

“KCR believes that the state should always have a working relationship with the central government. We are the youngest state (in India) and we have a working relationship with the Centre and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will continue because it is essential,” Kavitha said.

Asked about extending support to any national party, especially the BJP, Kavitha clarified that TRS stands as a strong regional party and won’t go for coalition with either of the two big political parties.

“Why should we be close to the BJP? We have always been at arms length from both the BJP and the Congress.”

As for KCR’s presence at the swearing-in of H.D. Devegowda as the Chief Minister of Karnataka on Wednesday, Kavitha said the Telangana Chief Minister has already met him in Bengaluru on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister’s office in Hyderabad confirmed that Rao will not be able to attend the ceremony due to some official engagements. However, informed sources said, Rao did not want to share the dias with Congress leaders and thus met Kumaraswamy a day earlier.

Telangana launches crop investment support scheme

0

The Telangana government on Thursday launched a new scheme in which the farmers in the state will get Rs 8,000 per acre each every year as crop investment support.

Launching the programme titled ‘Rythu Bandhu’, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao claimed that Telangana is the first state in India to implement a farmer investment support scheme.

The government plans to spend Rs 12,000 crore every year under this scheme, benefiting 58 lakh farmers. The financial assistance will be for two crops each year.

The Chief Minister told a public meeting at Indira Nagar in Karimnagar district that under the first phase, the government has made Rs 6,000 crore available in the banks.

KCR, as Rao is popularly known, distributed cheques among the farmers to formally launch the scheme.

He also distributed ‘pattadar’ pass books among farmers. The land title documents were prepared after a comprehensive land survey across the state. He pointed out that the survey identified 1.40 crore acres as cultivable land in the state.

KCR said the exercise for purification of land records was taken up for effective implementation of the ‘Rythu Bandhu’ scheme.

Ministers and officials will distribute cheques and pass books among farmers across the state over the next one week.

KCR claimed that Telangana, the youngest state of India, is redefining the future of agriculture in the country by implementing innovative schemes.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief said he was committed to irrigate one crore acres of land by completing all irrigation projects.

He claimed that Telangana is the only state supplying 24-hour free electricity to farmers. The state government has waived crop loans and was also implementing a Rs 5 lakh insurance scheme.

A day before the launch of ‘Rythu Bandhu’, the Chief Minister on Wednesday announced the waiver of Rs 700 crore water dues, benefiting lakhs of farmers.

KCR spoke about the all-round progress the state has made during the last four years and reiterated his commitment to transform it into ‘golden Telangana’. He listed several schemes launched by his government for the welfare of all sections of people.

KCR said his government could do all this because Telangana is a rich state. He claimed that Telangana is the only state in the country to record 20 per cent growth in its revenues during the last two years.

He targeted the opposition parties, especially the Congress, saying TRS had achieved in four years what they could not in the last 70 years.

The TRS chief appealed to the people to vote for the party in next year’s elections so that the government can continue its journey on the path of rapid growth of the state.

KCR Waives off Rs 700 – Rs 800 crore Farmers’ Water Tax arrears

1

In the latest development, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has waived farmers’ water tax bills. The arrears amount to Rs 700 – Rs 800 crores, according to official sources. CM KCR who laid the foundation stone for Medak Collectorate and SP Office Building construction made the shocking announcement in a public address that followed.

‘The water tax arrears are close to Rs 700 – Rs 800 crores. We are waiving these arrears. And in fact, there would be no water tax collected from the farmers hereafter. I’m really glad that a good thing has happened.

I was born and brought up here. It is because of the blessings of the people of Medak, I was able to win Telangana state. The entire nation is looking up to us in shock and awe, given the development in the state’, said KCR.

Meanwhile, political analysts believe that KCR’s waivers, and sops to farmers, and other sections of the society might be a good move with the election in a year. At the same time, this nature of ‘freebies’ and ‘sops’, and waiving off arrears will dearly cost the development of the state in the future.

KCR drafts sketch for CBN! Reviews ‘Vote-for-note Case’!

1

Going by the latest developments, it looks like AP CM Chandrababu Naidu is going to have many sleepless nights in the coming few months. With Assembly Elections in both the Telugu states in a year, TS CM KCR is drafting the final sketch to corner CBN.

KCR conducted a review over the ‘Vote-for-note’ case in Pragathi Bhavan for over two hours. Telangana DGP, ACP DG, Retired IPS Officer AK Khan, government officials and lawyers were present in the meeting. It is known that TDP MLA Revanth Reddy was caught offering a bribe of Rs 50 lakhs to a Nominated MLA for his vote in the Telangana Legislative Council. At that time, the political scandal created a ruckus in Telangana and AP politics.

Reviewing the case with elections ahead, clearly means that KCR is trying to put a check to CBN. It could either be to limit Chandrababu’s influence on national politics, given the fact that KCR is venturing in the same line or/and ensure that TDP is dusted both in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
With the crucial evidence against Chandrababu Naidu in the vote-for-note case, it looks like KCR has planned something big for the AP CM in the coming few months. Sources confirmed that KCR enquired about the evidence collected at the time of the incident, and the forensic lab report on the recorded voice calls involving Stephenson, CBN, Revanth Reddy and other TDP leaders.

KCR will meet the same fate as NTR – TS BJP President K Lakshman

0

Telangana State BJP President Dr. K Lakshman took a leaf from the history books, reminding Telangana CM KCR of what has happened to former Chief Minister, and actor N T Rama Rao. Speaking at the Telangana BJP office Lakshman went on to make serious remarks on KCR and predicted that TRS would lose in the upcoming elections.

‘While NTR was the Chief Minister for the united Andhra Pradesh, he tried to establish a grand alliance at the national level. Though he succeeded partially at the national level, he lost in a horrifying manner in the state politics.

KCR, who is trying to create an alliance, an alternative to BJP-led NDA, and Congress-led UPA will meet with the same fate. The TRS party will lose in the upcoming 2019 Telangana Assembly elections’, said Lakshman.

The BJP leader also made a mention of KCR meeting Congress leaders. He added, ‘on one hand KCR dubs Congress as a ‘tail’ party. On the other hand, he goes on to meet Congress leaders. This is possible because KCR has taken permission from Rahul Gandhi.

The BJP party will fight in the 2019 TS Assembly elections all alone’.

KCR, Akhilesh discuss proposed front

1

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday met Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao here and discussed the latter’s proposal for formation of a Federal Front.

The former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister called on KCR, as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief is popularly known, at his official residence. KCR also hosted a lunch for the visiting leader.

The two leaders discussed the current political situation and the need to bring various political parties together to form a front at the national level. Senior leaders of TRS were also present during the meeting.

The TRS chief, who proposed the front as an alternative to both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress, have stepped up his efforts during last few days. He visited Chennai on Sunday to meet DMK leaders M. Karunanidhi and M.K. Stalin.

KCR had mooted the idea of a Federal Front in March to bring “a qualitative change” in the national politics.

At the TRS plenary last week, a resolution was passed towards this effect. AStating that both BJP and Congress miserably failed to address people’s problems during last 70 years, KCR said the front would trigger tremor in the national politics with its agenda for speedy development and for addressing the real issues of people.

KCR has so far held talks with West Bengal Chief Minister and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee, Janata Dal-S President and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda and his son H.D. Kumaraswamy.

Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha chief Hemant Soren and well-known actor Prakash Raj had also called on KCR to discuss the formation of the front.

Telangana to distribute Rs 6,000 cr investment support among farmers

1

Under a new scheme to be launched on May 10, Telangana government plans to distribute Rs 6,000 crore among farmers as investment support.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday said that the required funds and cash reserves for Rythu Bandhu scheme are deposited in the banks and the government will start distributing cheques among the farmers from May 10.

According to a statement from the Chief Minister’s office, as on Tuesday, Rs 4,114.62 crore was kept ready in various banks. The state Finance Secretary is also meeting Reserve Bank of India officials to get another Rs 2,000 crore.

“By the time cheques are to be dispersed, Rs 6,000 crore cash reserves would be kept ready with the banks,” he said. The funds are kept with SBI, Telangana Grameena Bank, Grameena Vikas Bank, Canara Bank, IOB, Corporation Bank, Andhra Bank and Syndicate Bank.

KCR, as Rao is popularly known, directed the bank officials not to use funds meant for the farmers for other purposes. The authorities have printed required number of cheque books and passbooks of the farmers.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government has announced that it will give financial assistance of Rs 8,000 per acre per year for two crops.

“We have decided to distribute 57.33 lakh passbooks to farmers all over the state. Out of this, 4.60 lakh did not link their Aadhar cards. For 52,72,779 farmers who have linked their Aadhar cards, passbooks and cheques will be distributed,” KCR said.

KCR’s dreams will never materialize – V Hanumantha Rao

2

Telangana Congress party senior leader V Hanumantha Rao responded on KCR’s ‘Tamil Nadu Trip’. It is known that KCR met key DMK leaders like Stalin and Kanimozhli to bring consensus on the call for Federal Front.

Talking to the press, VH said, ‘KCR is dreaming of establishing ‘Federal Front’, aka the Third Front, and play a key role in the national politics. Those dreams of his will never materialize.

He failed to fulfill the promises he has made to the people of Telangana. No one is ready to trust him or his Federal Front. There is absolutely no possibility of building a third front. Despite his efforts, and other means, Federal Front will not be formed.

Congress Party’s ‘Praja Chaitanya Yatra’ has turned out to be very successful. It is highly possible for Congress to win in the 2019 Telangana Assembly elections if all the leaders can stay together’.
VH’s comments clearly indicate the fact that, Congress is trying to play down the possibility of Federal Front. By ignoring it, rather than condemning it, the Congress leaders are trying to project that Congress Party is the only alternative to BJP at the Centre.

Federal Front will trigger tremors in national politics: Telangana CM

0

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday said the proposed non-Congress, non-BJP Federal Front will trigger tremors in national politics.

Challenging both the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President vowed to bring a qualitative change in the national politics.

Addressing over 13,000 delegates gathered at the TRS plenary here, he said the idea of the Front had already created ripples in the national capital.

Holding the two national parties responsible for all the ills plaguing the nation even after 70 years of independence, he said the Federal Front would put the country on the path of speedy progress and prosperity through real cooperative federalism.

Stating that the efforts to form the Front were gathering pace, he said Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav would visit Hyderabad soon.

Rao announced he would meet DMK leader M.K. Stalin next month.

The plenary unanimously adopted a resolution authorising the Chief Minister to take all necessary steps to form the Front.

He has already met his West Bengal counterpart and Trinamool Congress supemo Mamata Banerjee, Janata Dal-Secular President H.D. Deve Gowda and some other leaders since mooting the idea of the Front last month.

Rao alleged that both BJP and Congress were afraid of him because he was known for his determination. The TRS chief said he would work hard for the country’s good just the way he strived to achieve Telangana state.

“The BJP leaders are saying that the Front doesn’t even have a tent. If that is so, why are you afraid?” he asked.

Rao said the Front would prepare a plan to irrigate every acre of land in the country as it had sufficient water.

“We will irrigate all 40 crore acres of land in the country in six to seven years.”

Stressing the need for decentralisation, he called for transferring subjects like agriculture, education, rural and urban development, drinking water and health to the state.

“Why should the Centre keep subjects like laying roads in villages and paying wages under MNREGA?” he asked.

The Centre, he said, should instead focus on key issues like diplomacy and to save the lives of Indian soldiers in Jammu and Kashmir.

“China and other neighbouring countries are progressing very fast but we are not competing with them because of the weak leadership. We have all the resources, human power that is willing to work. What we are lacking is the strong and determined leadership,” he added.

Telangana CM to meet Odisha counterpart in May

5

Amid talks on the formation of a political front ahead of the 2019 general elections, Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will meet his Odisha counterpart Naveen Patnaik here in the first week of May, informed sources said.

Rao, who heads the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, will meet Patnaik, the Biju Janata Dal President, in Bhubaneswar, they added.

Rao will first visit the world famous Jagannath temple in Puri and then call on the Odisha Chief Minister, the sources said.

Though there is no formal political agenda, both leaders are likely to discuss the current political situation and formation of an alternative front as both the parties are maintaining equi-distance from the Bharatiya Janata Party as well as the Congress.

However, Patnaik said they would not discuss the possibility of a third front.

“The Telangana Chief Minister is visiting Puri on a pilgrimage. On the way, he will pay a courtesy call (on me). There will be no discussion on the federal front or anything that has to do with politics,” Patnaik told reporters here.

Even though Patnaik has so far not revealed his plans vis-a-vis national politics, the proposed meeting is expected to throw light on the BJD’s future course of action with regard to the federal front.

Rao met West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Kolkata last month and Janata Dal-Secular chief and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda last week.

KCR , Chandrababu, Jagan in Karnataka elections

KCR extended support to JD(S) in Karnataka elections. Chandrababu Naidu’s TDP appealed to Karnataka voters to vote for anyone who can defeat BJP. YS Jagan refrained from speaking on Karnataka elections.

In fact this is the first time regional political parties representing telugu people have shown interest in elections in neighbouring states though telugus have a sizeable presence in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Odisha. The divergent political stand taken by these three regional parties in regard to Karnataka elections is nothing to do with politics in poll bound state. But, it is a result of local political necessities. Never in the past, leaders of united Andhra Pradesh or the two successor states evinced keen interest in elections in neighbouring states. But, this time as the general elections are nearer, the leaders of telugu states would not like to leave the opportunity . By their stand in Karnataka elections , they would like to further their political interests in their respective home states . No regional party of either Andhra Pradesh or Telangana is contesting in Karnataka .

KCR met former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (S) leader, HD Deve Gowda and expressed his willingness to even campaign for the party in the ensuing elections in that state. As Janata Dal (S) is contesting independently and is pitted against both Congress and BJP, KCR saw in Deve Gowda a true ally for his federal front or people’s front. But, there is no guarantee that Janata Dal (S) would remain independent of either Congress or BJP . In the wake of a hung Assembly, the Janata Dal (S) is expected to be part of a coalition led by either Congress or BJP.

KCR does not want his anti BJP crusade to help Congress in any way as he is facing a bitter fight from that party in Telangana . Any victory of Congress in Karnataka would be a morale booster for the party. The congress is expected to gain power in BJP ruled states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. Any such favourable results in these states along with Karnataka win, would certainly create national mood against Modi that benefits Congress. KCR is wary of its impact on Telangana voters. This is precisely the reason why KCR wants to support Janata Dal (S) to frustrate the chances of Congress.

Meanwhile , Chandrababu Naidu would like to sell anti Modi narrative to voters of Andhra Pradesh in 2019. He could come back to power by effectively marketing anti Congress political narrative post bifurcation. Thus , Naidu is more keen to defeat BJP rather than Congress. Neither Congress nor BJP are challengers to TDP in Andhra Pradesh. Yet, Naidu wants to tell his voters that he is fighting BJP anywhere and everywhere for the injustice done to the state. Chandrababu Naidu’s outreach in Karnataka is a part of his perception management as someone who is uncompromising in his fight against BJP for denying what is due to Andhra Pradesh.

Even if the Congress wins Karnataka, its impact will not be there in Andhra Pradesh as the people of the state are not yet ready to forgive and forget Congress for what they believe to be an arbitrary bifurcation.

YS Jaganmohan Reddy seems to be uninterested in Karnataka polls as he does not find any political dividend in extending his campaign beyond the frontiers of the state . In fact, Jagan still fights with Chandrababu Naidu rather than Narendra Modi. Given his political priority to corner Naidu rather than BJP, Karnataka is certainly not in his agenda.

KCR’s shocking decision on Private Buses!

33

Under the leadership of K Chandrasekhar Rao, the Telangana Government is taking revolutionary decisions to make the state a better place for living. In a bid to curb the traffic crisis, and instil the faith in the public that roads are meant for the public, CM KCR has taken a key decision. The Telangana CM has passed an order that private buses from henceforth will not be allowed to enter into the city premises.

Currently, private buses are allowed to operate before 8:00 am in the morning and post 9:00 pm in the evening. Usually, buses finish their trips before 8:00 am in the morning and leave the city only after 9:00 pm in the evenings.

With the latest decision taken by the government, the private buses will not be allowed to enter the city. Buses coming from Vijayawada and Kurnool will end their trips at LB Nagar and Attapur respectively.

If any private bus is seen operating within the city premises from hereon, the bus license will be cancelled, with a legal action to be followed, said a bureaucrat.
The private bus operators are yet to react on this.

Telangana CM condemns attacks on Dalits

0

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday condemned attacks on Dalits during nationwide protests the previous day.

He said the entire country should stand by the Dalits, who have been economically, socially and politically suppressed for generations.

In a statement, the Chief Minister said the governments should ensure that the laws and acts made for the Dalits were implemented properly.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief demanded that the judiciary take into account the feelings, agony and opinion of the Dalits.

He urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to speak with the Supreme Court Chief Justice in this regard.

“The Central government should take a sympathetic view on the ongoing agitation launched by the Dalits who are crestfallen with the Supreme Court guidelines. The Centre also should repose faith among the Dalits and assure them that it stands by them,” Rao added.

Violent protests on Monday claimed nine lives against a Supreme Court order that dilutes the Scheduled Castes and Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
