Aqua sector in deep trouble due to ‘J’ tax, says Kollu Ravindra

1

Former minister and TDP senior leader, Kollu Ravindra, on Thursday felt that Chief Minister, Jagan Mohan Reddy, completely destroyed the aqua sector in the State.

Talking to media persons, Ravindra said that aqua farmers and crores of people who are dependent on this sector are facing several problems due to the faulty policies of Jagan Mohan Reddy. He further alleged that Jagan had almost mortgaged the aqua farming sector through his ‘J’ tax.

Ravindra is of the opinion that the Seed Act is of no use for the farming sector. Bringing down the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for aqua from Rs 240 to Rs 210 is only to loot the farming community, Ravindra said, adding that this clearly indicates the inefficient administration of Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The aqua exporters have formed a syndicate and are harassing the farmers, the TDP leader said. In fact, the farmers are being threatened by this syndicate and even the officials too are not cooperating with them, he stated.

Minister for Fisheries, Seediri Appalaraju, is not taking any steps to save the aqua farmers from the troubles and the Minister never made any ground visit to have the first hand information on the issues being faced by them, Ravinda maintained.

Observing that Andhra Pradesh was on the top in aqua farming during the TDP regime, the former minister said that it touched the rock-bottom level after the YSRCP came to power. Several aqua farmers are resorting to suicide as MSP is not being paid for them and the subsidies are also withdrawn, he stated.

The aqua farmers are being looted in the name of ‘J’ tax, he said and felt that some Ministers are hatching a conspiracy to seriously damage the aqua farming sector. Such conspiracies will no longer be allowed to be continued in the State and the TDP will continue its fight till justice is done for the aqua farmers and Rs 240 MSP is paid for them, he added.

Why YSRCP showering sudden love on BCs, asks Kollu Ravindra

1

Senior TDP leader and former minister, Kollu Ravindra, on Thursday expressed surprise as to why the ruling YSRCP is showing sudden love towards the Backward Classes (BCs) in the State.

Ravindra told media persons here that Chief Minister, Jagan Mohan Reddy, has been claiming that several nominated posts have been given to BCs and asked who is bossing over them. Can any Minister take decisions independently, Ravindra asked.

The former minister said that no BC leader who is holding any position cannot function independently. Also, the BCs meeting has been organised under the direct supervision of YSRCP MP, Vijayasai Reddy, and how Jagan Reddy can claim that his government is working for the welfare of BCs, he asked.

Ravindra demanded that the ruling party release a white paper on the steps taken for the welfare of the BCs after it came to power. BC leader, Chelluboina Venugopal was forced to kneel down before another leader, Y V Subba Reddy, the TDP leader pointed out and asked if this is the respect the community gets in the YSRCP rule.

Ravindra demanded the Chief Minister to come out with the details on how many BCs were given jobs, to whom and where. Giving volunteer jobs to the community though they are eligible for regular posts is nothing but deceiving the BCs, he felt. Though many commissions have been formed in different names, necessary funds have been released or not even a single commission, he maintained.

The TDP, during its regime, implemented various schemes to impart better education to BCs but after the YSRCP came to power, all the schemes, including the funding for higher education abroad, have been withdrawn, he stated. The BCs who have self-respect will teach a fitting lesson to Jagan Reddy when the time comes, Ravindra said.

Since the community has realised the fact and the ground reality, the meeting organised in Vijayawada was a miserable failure as no one attended the programme, he said. At least 30 BCs have been murdered after Jagan came to power and hundreds have been subjected to various kinds of harassments. Jagan is only trying to take the BCs for a ride in the name of appointing some committees for their welfare though he has done nothing in the past three-and-half years, the TDP leader said.

The BC community is not ready to believe Jagan Reddy, he said and made it clear that it is this very community that will bring him down from power in the coming elections.

Finally, Kollu Ravindra gets bail in murder case

1

Former Minister and TDP senior leader Kollu Ravindra, who was arrested in a murder case, got bail in the Machilipatnam court today. The court ordered him not to leave Vijayawada city for about 28 days. As of now, the former Minister was in Rajahmundry Central Jail. A Supreme Court advocate came to Machilipatnam and argued for Kollu Ravindra along with his local lawyers. The TDP leader has been saying that he was falsely implicated in the murder case out of political vendetta launched by the Jagan Reddy Government.

The Coronavirus cases were on the rise in the Rajahmundry Central Jail. Moreover, there were no prima facie charges against the former Minister in the Bandar murder case. With this, Ravindra could eventually get bail. The TDP has alleged that the ruling party has been targetting BC leaders like Ravindra just because the BCs were supporting their party from the beginning.

Just like Ravindra, former MLA JC Prabhakar Reddy already got bail after he got the Covid infection. Prabhakar Reddy was facing charges under the SC, ST Atrocities Act.

Meanwhile, another TDP top BC leader Atchannaidu was still under custody without being given bail. He was shifted to NRI Hospital near Mangalagiri for Coronavirus treatment. The TDP has been alleging that Atchannaidu was targetted with an ulterior plan to weaken their party in North Andhra.

Police remand report flawed in Kollu Ravindra case: TDP

0

Telugu Desam Party Official Spokesperson K. Pattabhi Ram has asserted that the Krishna district police twisted facts and submitted a ‘flawed remand report’ to implicate TDP BC leader and ex Minister Kollu Ravindra under pressure from YCP leaders. Mr. Pattabhi objected to the police claim that they arrested the main accused persons, Chinta Chinni, Chinta Nancharaiah and Chinta Kishore, on July 2 when they had actually surrendered at the Pedana police station on June 29 evening itself. They surrendered within seven hours the same day after YCP leader Moka Bhaskar Rao was murdered.

The TDP spokesperson demanded Krishna District SP M. Ravindranath Babu to submit the CCTV footage of Pedana and Guduru police stations. It was a fact that the media reports including pro-Jagan Reddy Sakshi clearly gave visual details of how the three accused first surrendered at the Pedana police station on the day of murder itself and how they were brought to Guduru Police station later. But the remand report was full of many glaring and deliberate errors.

Mr. Pattabhi said the remand report narrated that after the murder taking place at 11.30 a.m. on June 29, the main accused persons ran away from the spot and then rode a bullet motorcycle and went towards Pedana road. Then, at 11.40 a.m., they called one Rizwan who gave the phone to Kollu Ravindra who was stated to have congratulated them before giving further directions. The police should explain how within 10 minutes between 11.30 a.m. and 11.40 a.m., the accused persons could commit the murder and then go out of the Bandar town far away into the fields on Pedana road from where to speak to Kollu Ravindra. The remand report narrative was undoubtedly full of fiction and not based on facts. It was all clearly aimed at implicating the TDP BC leader.

Mr. Pattabhi Ram asserted that when murder took place, Kollu Ravindra actually visited the offices of District Collector and the SP to complain against YCP irregularities in Grama Secretariats. Between 11.40 a.m. and 12.40 noon, Kollu Ravindra was at the SP office. Very unfortunately, the remand report stated that Kollu Ravindra spoke to the murder accused right from the SP chamber premises. From this, it was evident how much eager the police were to please their political bosses. All these politically motivated cases were being decided through hot lines between CM Tadepalli residence and the DGP and the respective District SPs concerned.

Stating that the murdered Bhaskar Rao was accused in 90 cases, Mr. Pattabhi asked why the police suppressed details that Bhaskar Rao was accused in two rape cases, six murders, 18 robberies, 38 civil disputes and 24 miscellaneous cases. Despite this, Minister Perni Nani put up an emotional show to the extent of shedding tears while YCP projected the deceased as if he was a freedom fighter. If Kollu Ravindra had a criminal background, he would have got Bhaskar Rao eliminated during the TDP 5-year regime when he was the Minister.

Former TDP minister sent to Rajahmundry Central Jail

1

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader and former Andhra Pradesh minister Kollu Ravindra on Saturday was sent to 14-day judicial remand.

Accused in the murder of Yuvajana Sramika Ryuthi Congress Party (YSRCP) leader M Bhaskar Rao, Kollu Ravindra was shifted to Rajahmundry Central Jail.

Bhaskar Rao, former Machilipatnam market yard chairman, was a close associate of transport minister Perni Venkataramaiah. On June 29, Bhaskar Rao was stabbed to death by four unidentified persons in broad daylight in the fish market in Machilipatnam.

On Friday, Kollu Ravindra was arrested in Tuni in East Godavari district when he was heading towards Visakhapatnam. A police team from Krishna district stopped the TDP leader and arrested him. He was produced before a court on Saturday.

Immediately after the arrest of Kollu Ravindra, TDP president and former chief minister had called up his family members to express that the TDP will stand behind them. Naidu also alleged that the Jagan Mohan Reddy government was targeting TDP leaders, especially backward classes leaders including Atchannaidu, Ayyanna Patrudu and now Kollu Ravindra. He slammed the YSRCP for launching a vindictive campaign against the backward class leaders of the TDP by foisting false cases.

“False case was filed against Atchannaidu. Nirbhaya case was filed against Ayyanna Pathrudu. SC/ST atrocities case was filed against Yanamala Ramakrishnudu. Beeda Ravichandra was attacked on the floor of Legislative Council by the YSRCP leaddrs. Now, Kollu Ravindra was arrested by implicating him the murder case,” Naidu lashed out. Naidu said Kollu Ravindra was arrested without even preliminary investigation. The one-year rule is worse than the dark days of Emergency. “Never before were leaders booked in so many wrongful cases or the opposition targeted to this extent until now. It was unprecedented that so many leaders are being put in jail like this,” he had said.

Former Andhra minister arrested for YSRCP leader’s murder

Andhra Pradesh police on Friday night arrested Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader and former Andhra Pradesh minister Kollu Ravindra in connection with the murder of a leader of ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP).

Ravindra was arrested in Tuni in East Godavari district when he was heading towards Visakhapatnam. A police team from Krishna district stopped the TDP leader and arrested him. He was being brought to Vijayawada.

The former minister has been arrested in connection with the murder of M. Bhaskar Rao, a close associate of Transport Minister Perni Venkataramaiah.

The former Machilipatnam market yard chairman was stabbed to death by four unidentified persons in broad daylight in the fish market in Machilipatnam on June 29.

On a complaint by the slain leader’s family, police had registered a case against Kollu Ravindra.

Alleging that Ravindra is the mastermind behind the criminal conspiracy, Bhaskar Rao’s widow had demanded his immediate arrest.

The police have already arrested three persons in connection with the murder case.

Meanwhile, TDP president and former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has condemned Ravindra’s arrest. He said that arresting him without even preliminary investigation is an act of vendetta politics by YSR Congress.

He said the state did not see these many atrocities even during the emergency. “Never before were leaders booked in so many wrongful cases or the opposition targeted to this extent until now. It was unprecedented that so many leaders are being put in jail like this,a he said.

The leader of opposition alleged that YSRCP adopted a vengeful attitude towards backward classes with wrongful cases being filed against Atchannaidu, Ayyannapatrudu, Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, and Kollu Ravindra being the examples.

Naidu called Ravindra’s family members and gave an assurance that he and the party will stand by them.
