Their next production Amar Akbar Anthony starring Ravi Teja and Ileana has been announced for November 16th release. The film directed by Srinu Vaitla has been carrying low buzz because of the poor track record of Ravi Teja and Srinu Vaitla. Mythri Movie Makers decided not to trouble the buyers and decided to offer the film for low prices to compensate the losses of Savyasachi.

The makers pocketed enough through the satellite, digital and Hindi satellite rights of Amar Akbar Anthony and hence they decided to offer the theatrical rights for minimal prices (Some of the areas are offered for free without even taking any advance amounts). This is sure an interesting move as they are not in a mood to add one more debacle to their account.

If a top production house has a bunch of films lined up, they generally do not offer films for free or for less quotes. But Mythri Movie Makers stepped out with an initiative considering their buyers in mind.

Mythri Movie Makers emerged as the top production house in no time in Telugu cinema and they are currently busy producing over 10 films. They are said to have paid advances to several top actors, directors and technicians of Tollywood. They inked a deal with Powerstar Pawan Kalyan and Santosh Srinivas has been roped in to direct the film. With Pawan occupied with politics the film has been kept on hold. The makers now replaced the actor with Ravi Teja and the film will start rolling soon. They approached Pawan Kalyan about this and he asked us to go ahead revealed Naveen Yerneni, Yalamanchili Ravishankar and Cherukuri Mohan, the partners of Mythri Movie Makers.

When asked about Pawan returning the advance for the makers, they clarified that they haven’t asked Pawan to return the advances. Mythri Movie Makers will produce a film with Pawan Kalyan post elections once he returns back to films said the producers. They even revealed that Mythri will soon produce a film with Trivikram and the choice of picking up the actor has been left to the top director.

Mythri Movie Makers who produced several big blockbusters like Srimanthudu, Janatha Garage and Rangasthalam are soon all set to surprise the audience with a small budget film. Riteesh will make his directorial debut that will feature a bunch of new faces. The movie will be made on a strict budget of Rs 89 lakhs and will roll very soon.

Mythri Movie Makers produced Naga Chaitanya’s Savyasachi and Ravi Teja’s Amar Akbar Anthony which are slated in November in a gap of two weeks. Speaking on the incident, one of the producers Naveen Yerneni said “We are here to produce good films. We are not here to differentiate small and big films. We are keen on experimenting with new actors and technicians. Big budget films can be recovered in first weekend while small budget films take ten days to recover the investments. We are producing a small budget film that costs Rs 1.5 crores including expenses and promotions”.

Flop streak continues for NRI producers

NRIs turning producers and investing money in films is a trend which started in Tollywood a few years ago. We have already seen some of the rich and well established NRIs becoming prominent filmmakers in the Telugu film industry. Production houses like Tolly 2 Holly films, 14 Reels, Nirvana Cinemas, Mythri Movie Makers, SRT Entertainments etc are some of them which are led by NRIs in USA.

Majority of these NRIs initially started their business as distributors in overseas market and later they ventured into filmmaking as producers. If we look at their graph as producers, the success ratio is on the lower side. Only Mythri Movie Makers is an exception in this case. They scored back to back hits.

Tolly 2 Holly films which turned up to filmmaking in Tollywood a few years ago after having a successful stint as overseas distributor failed to taste success as a production house.

14 Reels Entertainment, owned by a trio of NRIs, initially scored big hits like Dookudu and Legend, but delivered a series of duds in recent times with Hyper and LIE.

SRT Entertainments of Ram Talluri had a similar fate like other NRIs as films like Chuttalabbayi and Nela Ticket failed embarrassingly at the box office.

Renowned distribution company Nirvana Cinemas, the latest one to join the bandwagon of NRI distributors turning producers, failed with its maiden attempt. They have released the recent mystery thriller Manu which failed to connect with audience.

Only Mythri Movie Makers managed to emerge as a successful production house among those led NRIs. They scored back to back blockbusters with Srimanthudu, Janata Garage and Rangasthalam.

Sukumar teams up with Mythri Movie Makers

Ace director Sukumar is well known for encouraging talent through his production house Sukumar Writings. With his debut film as producer, he gave life to his close associate director Palnati Surya Pratap. He also introduced Hari Prasad Jakka as director with his second production.

Now, Sukumar is joining hands with Rangasthalam producers Mythri Movie Makers to introduce his protege Buchi Babu Sana as director. Sukumar Writings and Mythri producers will jointly pool resources for this film which is likely to go on floors later this year. The hunt for the lead pair is currently on and more details about this interesting project will be out soon.

Buchi Babu Sana worked as Sukumar’s assistant for Rangasthalam and impressed with his inputs in script and screen play writing.

Young and promising actor Vijay Devarakonda shot fame with Pelli Choopulu and his next outing Arjun Reddy made him an overnight superstar. Vijay Devarakonda wrapped up the shoot of Taxi Wala which will release soon and the actor is shooting for couple of interesting films. Natural Star Nani is currently the most prominent actor in Tollywood currently. With seven back to back hits, the actor has his dairy full for the next couple of years. He inked deals with all the top production houses of Tollywood and is keen on wrapping up three films every year. Many of the production houses wanted Nani as he is quite available and turned out to be a minimum guarantee hero. However his recent quote for his next film left the makers in deep shock. With Nani charging Rs 5 crores for MCA, the makers felt that he would hike his fee and it would be near to Rs 7 crores. However the actor is said to have quoted Rs 9 crores for the film and the production house has been left puzzled. It may not be a big deal for a production house like Mythri Movie Makers to offer Rs 9 crores, but considering the business standards and taking the worst case in terms of result, the project may not be fruitful for the makers. Nani who has been considered as a minimum guarantee hero over the years cannot be called so in the coming days and he may not be knocked by many filmmakers if the actor charges a whopping remuneration. It’s time for the actor to re-check his fee before he misses many good opportunities.

Despite having a solid lineup of projects, the producers of Mythri Movie Makers are in a spot of bother.

Rangasthalam pre release business is lukewarm

In the making for a long time, Ram Charan – Sukumar’s Rangasthalam is not getting the desired business deals in Telugu states. In Nizam, the film was supposed to do a pre release business to a tune of 20 Crores. Disappointingly, there are just offers in the range of 15-16 Crores. Similarly, the production is looking for a 12-14 Crore deal in Ceded. But, the business is likely to close at 9 Crores.

In Andhra, the film is expected to do a business of 35 Crores. Unfortunately, buyers are willing to come forward only if it the rights are valued at 30 Crores.

The production house has incurred heavy interests due to the long delay in the project. Initially, they hoped to bag good profits banking on the crazy combination. However, they are likely to scrape through only with little profits ( 10-12 Crores) due to the Amazon deal.

Advances paid to Pawan Kalyan and director

Long back, Pawan Kalyan committed to work for a film, to be directed by Santosh Srinivas, under Mythri Movies banner. They paid an advance of 9 Crores to Pawan two years ago. And few months ago they paid the remaining amount( total 20 Crores as remuneration) as Pawan promised to start their project first despite other commitments. Additionally, Mythri has been bearing all expenses on the pre production activities of the project.

With Pawan Kalyan taking to full time politics, there is no clarity on when he will work on this project. Even though he returns the money, they will lose the interest and other expenses spent till now on the project.

Even though Mythri has given back to back blockbusters, it is not a easy ride for Mythri.

They have Naga Chaitanya’s Savyasachi lined up next and few more interesting films for the next couple of years.

Powerstar Pawan Kalyan, who is fast finishing his 25th film Agnatavaasi in Trivikram’s direction, is likely to kick start his next project in early 2018 and quickly wrap it up as he is going to commence his full length political career very soon. As reported earlier, Pawan Kalyan has agreed to team up with Santosh Srinivas for a cop drama which will be on the lines of Tamil film Theri. Also, Pawan gave nod to Tamil director RT Neason for Vedhalam remake.

While Mythri Movie Makers are going to back Santosh Srinivas’ project, noted producer AM Ratnam will be bankrolling Neason’s film. However, there is no official word on which project will be the immediate next one after Agnatavaasi.

Mythri makers are confident that Pawan will commence shooting for their project after wrapping up the current film. On the other side, AM Ratnam marketed his latest film Oxygen assuring distributors that Pawan’s film after Agnatavaasi will be under his banner.

So, both Mythri Movie Makers and AM Ratnam are claiming that Pawan’s next project will be under their respective banners. But, there is no clarity on which film will go on floors first. We have to wait for an official confirmation in this regard.

Mahesh babu offered SPYder project to them as they did well with Srimanthudu. He asked Mythri makers to talk to Murugadoss about the project. They went to Chennai and spent two days discussing about the project with Murugadoss . After discussions, they felt it is not a right project for them due to two reasons – one, Budget is very high and two, they will not have any control on the project with Murugadoss at the helm.

Indeed their instinct turned out to be true now.So, to be a successful producer it is not just the projects you pick, but also projects that you don’t pick is super critical. Mythri is doing well on that aspect so far.

After Agnatavaasi, as we reported Mythri movie makers planning a movie with Power start Pawan Kalyan with Kandireega director Santhosh. Director is ready with bound script. However, sources close to Pawan are telling now that this movie might never go floors.

As per the sources, Pawan Kalyan is seriously considering to jump onto political bandwagon full-fledgedly. There are rumours swirling around that there will be elections in October 2018 itself instead of 2019 May. So PK wants to start building his party organization and not repeat the mistake of Chirajeevi during “Prajarajyam” i.e. to jump into politics without proper organization.

Mythri makers gave advance long back and are also waiting to see what Pawan’s plans are. Whether Pawan will go as he has taken the advance or he will cancel the project. Pawan is one star her who doesn’t mind cancelling movies. He cancelled AM Ratnam, Nesan combination move that was launched last year. So, if indications coming from Pawan circle are true, after “Agnatavaasi” it might be a while until we see Pawan on screen as this will be his last movie before elections 2018-19.

Powerstar Pawan Kalyan, who is fast finishing the shooting formalities of his upcoming film in Trivikram’s direction, has long back committed to do a film for Mythri Movie Makers. While there are reports that Pawan will take a long break after this film owing to his political commitments, it is exclusively learnt that the pre production activities for his next film will commence very soon.

Telugu360 has been informed by a little birdie that Santosh Srinivas has already locked the script for this film. Reportedly, the film is going to be a cop drama which will be on the lines of Tamil film Theri, which has Vijay in the lead. However, the film will not be a remake of Theri. The first half of Theri will be retained for the Telugu version and the second half will be completely different one.

Theri released in Telugu as Policeodu. So, Santosh Srinivas has come up with an entirely different story for the second half. The start date of this interesting project will be revealed very soon.
