Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja reunited with entertainers specialist director Srinu Vytla for a full length comedy caper titled as Amar Akbar Anthony. The regular shooting flagged off in USA a couple of months ago and the shooting has been progressing at a brisk pace.

After canning crucial episodes in the exotic locales of US, the makers have shifted the shoot to Hyderabad. Sreenu Vaitla initially planned two schedules in US, but he used up the budget allotted for just one schedule. So, the remaining portions will be shot in Hyderabad with special arrangements.

Ileana is making a comeback to Tollywood with this film. She completed majority of her portion in US and will resume shoot in Hyderabad shortly.

Mythri Movie Makers is the production unit behind this project.

It is well known that Ravi Teja agreed to work on the Telugu remake of Tamil cop drama Theri. Director Santosh Srinivas made some changes to the second half of the script to suit the sensibilities of Telugu audience and got the nod from Ravi Teja.

The film went on floors recently and a few days shoot has been done. However, the latest reports suggest that Ravi Teja has put the project on the back burner temporarily. Sources say that Ravi Teja wants to entirely focus on Sreenu Vaitla’s Amar Akbar Anthony as all his recent films tanked heavily at box office.

Ravi Teja was supposed to shoot for both films at a time. But, with the latest development, the Nela Ticket actor might first wrap up Amar Akbar Anthony and then think about Theri remake.

‘Mass Maharaja’ Ravi Teja has cultivated a taste for doing typical commercial dramas which cater to mass audience. He has now decided to go against the grain with his next film which will be helmed by critically acclaimed filmmaker VI Anand.

As per reliable reports, Ravi Teja has okayed the script narrated by VI Anand and the film is tentatively titled as Disco Raja. It is learnt that the ‘Raja The Great’ actor will be seen portraying dual roles in this film. He will be playing father – son roles who look strangely similar despite considerable age difference.

VI Anand, we hear, has penned a quirky script with interesting twists around these two roles and got the nod from Ravi Teja. Sources say that the story was first narrated to Allu Arjun who refused to take risk at this point of his career by doing this experimental subject. Ravi Teja has immediately greenlighted the project and will commence the shooting once he wraps up Sreenu Vaitla’s ongoing film.

It remains to be if Ravi Teja’s brave attempt to accept such an experimental script yields the desired result for him or not.

Together, they’ve delivered laugh riots like ‘Venky’ and ‘Dubai Sreenu’. The former in particular has developed a cult status over a period of time. And if our sources are to be believed, both Ravi Teja and Sreenu Vaitla are set for an encore with their next, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’.

“The second half of the script has come out extremely well. With Sunil added to the scheme of things, the dose of entertainment has only doubled. In particular, Vaitla has conceived an episode called WATA (World Andhra, Telangana Association) which will be a funny take on TANA and ATA. It is bound to take everyone on a laughter ride and will remind one of the hilarious train sequence in ‘Venky’ involving Ravi Teja, Brahmanandam, AVS, Venu Madhav, Srinivas Reddy , Chitram Sreenu and Ramachandra,” confirmed a source close to the unit, and added the episode isn’t conceived to belittle any organization. “It’s just that signature Vaitla episode which is in good humour. Nothing else!”

The source further added that Ravi Teja isn’t playing triple roles in the film, a production venture of Mythri Movie Makers, but will play the same character in three different shades.

The makers will shoot in USA without breaks and will return back to India once they are done with the long schedule. With one last schedule in Hyderabad, the entire shoot of Amar Akbar Anthony will be wrapped up. Ileana D’Cruz is returning back to Tollywood after a huge gap with this film which is produced by Mythri Movie Makers. Amar Akbar Anthony may hit the screens during the end of this year.

Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja’s latest offering Nela Ticket is heading towards becoming a huge disaster at box office after its release last Friday. The shoddy script and the lackluster narration have let the film down.

Ravi Teja is being planned by audience and critics for his weak selection of movies. Buzz in the industry circles is that he is not paying heed to the story and other aspects of his films and is concentrating on just the remuneration. Sources say that he is demanding producers to settle his payments in a single shot.

Recently a noted producer approached Ravi Teja for a film. He was shocked to know that Ravi Teja just discussing about his remuneration without asking anything about the story and other details. The producer decided not to work on the project.

Meanwhile, Nela Ticket producer Ram Talluri has decided to work with Ravi Teja once again. Despite the poor show of Nela Ticket, Ram is willing to work with him again. The director and other details are going to be unveiled very soon. The regular shooting will commence later this year.

We have to wait and see if Ravi Teja and Ram Talluri can make amends this time.

Ravi Teja, who is an orphan finds happiness in helping the needy people around him. Home minister Aditya Bhupati (Jagapati Babu) is a corrupt guy who wants to earn unlimited money. Aditya kills his own father because he is spending lot of money on charity works. Investigating the murder mystery, TV reporter receives life threatening injuries.  

Raviteja takes up smaller social issues of neighbors, to resolve works with government and private officials In that process, he confronts with Jagapati babu.

Rest of the story deals with how Jagapati babu handles Raviteja, what is the relation between them etc.
 
Performances:

Energetic Raviteja’s performance has been limited because of poor characterization. He could not deliver his core elements. Heroine Malvika Sharma is too young to cast opposite Raviteja, looks wise adequate in an insignificant role. Jagapathibabu as the main villain is good appearance physically but characterization lacks power.  Sharat babu played a short special role. Posani, JP, Prudhvi, Brahmanandam are wasted. Subba Raju as Jagapatibabu’s brother has got comedy role
 
Analysis:

Director Kalyan Krishna had intended to do a message-oriented film with mass elements. But his inability in dealing this genre had resulted to a preachy, redundant scenes filled , insipid movie.

Raviteja character can be summarized by a dialogue he uses frequently in this film : “ Chuttu janam , Madhyalo manam “.

The film starts off in Vizag shifts to hyderabad, as it progresses get dragged beyond limit. Brahmanandam , JP like comedians are wasted. There are many illogical scenes about politics , a minimum background work would have been better.

All songs are major speed breakers. Production values are adequate , action sequence at interval stands out for lavis

 Positives:

  • Theme of the film “Pursue happiness by helping others “is good
  • Hero RaviTeja
  • Interval Chase sequence

Negatives:

  • 1970s story line, Pathetic execution
  • All songs are bad on screen
  • Lack of effective characterization for any role
  • No connect between scenes, illogical plot
  • No entertainment

Verdict:

Nela Ticket can be termed as the most absurd big hero film in recent years. Director Kalyan Krishna tests patience right from the word go, headache levels increase as the film progresses. With its 1970’s theme, Nela ticket fails to cash in Raviteja’s presence. You can Stay Away from this disastrous film

‘Nela Ticket’ team repents for tongue slip on media

After Naa Peru Surya, it is Ravi Teja’s Nela Ticket which is getting ignored by a news channel after a close friend of the film’s producer made cheap comments on media during the audio launch event which was held few days ago. The news channel is now reluctant to air promotions and interviews.

It is well known that the tussle with leading media channels before the film’s release had taken a toll on Naa Peru Surya promotions. After this, many in industry felt that TV promotions are very essential to take the film deep into audience.

Nela Ticket team, too, realized the importance of TV promotions and they are now repenting for the comments made on a new channel during the audio event graced by Pawan Kalyan. With just a few days left for its release, Nela Ticket is carrying very low buzz in audience. So, the team has apologised to the news channel for the comments.

But, the news channel has not yet decided whether to promote the film or not.

In what would be her comeback to Telugu film industry after six years, Ileana D’Cruz, Telugu360.com has exclusively learnt, has agreed in-principle to feature in Ravi Teja-starrer ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’. While her part and the paycheck was one reason, the other reason was Ravi Teja, with whom she shares a great friendship.

It was not long ago, she, speaking to a Mumbai-based daily said how she loves Ravi Teja (of all her co-actors) the most. In fact, when Ravi asked her why she is she not into Telugu films anymore, she replied saying that no one was offering her anything. It looks like she got the offer that she’s been waiting and with none other than Ravi Teja.

A source close to the film’s unit confirms, “Although Anu Emmanuel was initially signed on to be the film’s heroine, some things didn’t work out. Ileana was approached later and the discussions with her in final stages. She liked her part and is extremely gung-ho about making a comeback to Tollywood again. The makers also felt that her pan India appeal will help the film in Northern circuits of the country where Ravi commands a sizeable following.”

Directed by Sreenu Vaitla, ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ is a production of Mythri Movie Makers, which is on a roll with three consecutive hits, the latest being ‘Rangasthalam’.

The trailer is filled with glimpses of entertaining scenes involving a host of comedians in company with Ravi Teja whose naughtiness has no limits. He teases heroine Malavika Sharma in his inimitable style and cavorts with her in Nela Ticket title song.

Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja seems to be on a signing spree with back to back projects. The ‘Raja The Great’ actor is currently busy with ‘Nela Ticket’ and has lined up Sreenu Vaitla’s film and one more project with Santosh Srinivas.

Reportedly, Ravi Teja is likely to team up with Nela Ticket producer Ram Talluri for two more projects at a later date. It is heard that he has signed a three film deal with the production house and Nela Ticket is the first project in the agreement.

After working with Kalyan Krishna, Ravi Teja is likely to team up with young and talented writers turned directors Bobby and BVS Ravi for the same production house. This is the first time Ravi Teja has signed such a deal in his entire career.

Nela Ticket is slated for release in May this year.

Meanwhile, the pre production work for his next project to be directed by Santosh Srinivas is currently underway. This film is said to be an official remake of Tamil hit Theri with slight changes to the script. The regular shooting will commence once he is done with Sreenu Vaitla’s film.

Despite going through lean phase, Ravi Teja has his platter full for till next year. It remains to be seen if he manages to restore his form at box office with these interesting films.
