Though the film is better in Domestic markets compared to overseas where it is a disaster, it has underperformed big time in Nizam where it is struggling to do at least 5 Crores.

    Naga Chaitanya’s family entertainer Shailaja Reddy Alludu ( SRA ) and Samantha’s thriller U Turn clashed at box office on Vinayaka Chaviti.

    In overseas, SRA had a below par run in the first weekend. The film gave career best openings for Naga Chaitanya with $ 107K from Wednesday premiers. But, the weak reviews and average word of mouth impacted the film’s collections in the first weekend as it managed to collect a mediocre $ 360K till now. Maruthi’s flat narration turned out to be a big liability for the film.

    Samantha’s U Turn had a decent run in the first weekend. After taking a very slow start on Wednesday, the film gained good momentum in the weekend and collected decent numbers by the end of Sunday. The total gross is $ 225K which trade circles reckon as decent moolah considering the genre and the budget spent on film.

    C/o Kancharapalem, which surprised trade circles with a good run in the first weekend, failed to attract audience in the second weekend. However, with $ 265K run, the film performed beyond expectations.

    The theatrical trailer of Naga Chaitanya’s Shailaja Reddy Alludu has been unveiled and it glimpses what is in store for audience after the film’s release.

    The two minute trailer clearly suggests that director Maruthi has explored the highly successful ‘Attha – Alludu’ formula of the 90s with his signature characterisations and entertaining elements. It starts off with the hero’s introduction as Chaitu, an optimistic and soft-looking youngster, who faces the challenges of three persons : father, lover and mother-in-law. Anu Emanuel plays an egoistic girl and Ramya Krishna is an assertive and commanding woman. How Chaitu gets sandwiched between them forms the rest of the story.

    The chemistry between the lead pair looks sparkling. Both Chaitu and Anu Emanuel are at their stylish best. Vennela Kishore and Prudhvi Raj lead the comedy track and are surely going to leave the audience in splits.

    Music score by Gopi Sundar is appropriate and the production values are adequate. All in all, the trailer minces no words in positioning the film as a Maruthi mark entertainer exploring the time-tested ‘Attha-Alludu’ theme.

    Shailaja Reddy Alludu is an upcoming family entertainer starring Naga Chaitanya, Anu Emmanuel and Ramya Krishna in lead roles. Music for the film is composed by Gopi Sundar who has gained much appreciation for his melodious numbers off late.

    The trendy album begins with Anu Baby sung by Anudeep Dev with great vigor and fun. The funky electric guitar and bass guitar is quite enjoyable to hear but the lyrics by Krishna Kanth does the job quite well for this song. The usage of 80s blues sound fusing with contemporary feel is quite impressive. The phrase “ Ego ni Indhanamalle Vaadalamma Bhama” is something new and interesting to hear. While the song begins as an eve teasing number initially, it gets to a life lesson about love and relationships in the charanam.

    Shailaja Reddy Alludu Choode is a typical title number with a Telangana folk number sung by Satyavathi. The usage of harmonium with latest sounds like bass guitar and sequencing is done quite well. The raaga Kaapi is used to the best possible way by the composer. The lyrics tickle a funny bone which speaks about a guy who is stuck between prospective mother in law and girlfriend. The song will definietly gain much appeal with the masses.

    Sid Sriram who has gained much appreciation for his Inka Inka Inkem in Geetha Govindam which was also composed by Gopi Sundar arrives again with a beautiful solo Egire Egire now, The presence of ghatam is wonderful and the string section is effortlessly fused with trance beats. Krishna Kanth’s sublime lyrics are quite appealing and pleasant to hear. The flute in the first interlude is quite melodious and beautiful. Lipsika does a brilliant job with her sweet singing but has an irresistible resemblance to Chinmayi’s voice.

    Pelli Pandiri is an out and out wedding song sung by Vijay Yesudas penned by the legendary Sirivennela Sitarama Sastry. The song surprisingly speaks about the importance of bonding and wedding system in India. The phrases like “Mangala Vaadyam Moge Samayana.. Chinadara Vandaralendukandi” beautifully speaks about how to have a harmonious wedding with less disturbances. The breathless style of singing is effortlessly done by Vijay Yesudas.

    The finale occurs with Thanu Vethikina – a female solo sung by Satya Yamini and this song is brilliantly composed by raaga Madhyamavati. It has been a while this auspicious raaga is used for a romantic number and Gopi Sundar does it in style. Sitarama Sastry garu does magic once again with phrases like “Pogaranuko.. Tagadanuko..Sahaja Gunaalivi” used in great ease.

    Shailaja Reddy Alludu is a breezy album with melodious songs taking over the step quite effortlessly!

But a series of musical flops left Gopi Sundar behind. The young composer is back to track with Vijay Devarakonda’s Geetha Govindam and the music album is an instant hit.     Maruthi stuck in Kerala Rains

    Talented young director Maruthi is busy with the post-production work of Shailaja Reddy Alludu that has been announced for August 31st release. Naga Chaitanya and Anu Emmanuel are the lead actors in this romantic entertainer. Malayalam music composer Gopi Sundar is composing the music and the background score for the film. With the re-recording work happening in Kochi, Maruthi flew to Kerala to monitor the work.

    With heavy rains and floods, the work flow has been delayed but Maruthi and Gopi Sundar are working for extra hours to wrap up the post-production work on time. Maruthi took twitter to reveal the news and he clarified that the movie will hit the screens as planned. A massive audio release event has been planned but it has been cancelled in the last minute. Sithara Entertainments is producing Shailaja Reddy Alludu.
