Intense groupism in Kurnol district leaves cadre confused

0

Is the TDP losing the plot in the all-important Kurnool district? Why is it unable to unite the warring factions in the party and instil a sense of purpose among them? Why is the TDP not learning any lessons despite repeated failures?

Kurnool is one problematic district for the TDP. Even during the 2014 landslide victory for the TDP, the party fared poorly in the district. It could win only three MLA seats. In 2019 YS Jagan wave, the district was a washout for the TDP and the party lost all the seats. The same sorry story continued in the panchayat, ZPTC and MPTC elections.

All is not well between former union minister Kotla Surya Prakash Reddy, Yemmiganur party incharge VB Jayanageswara Reddy. Even parliamentary constituency convener Somisetty Venkateswarlu is ploughing a lonely furrow. Meanwhile former minister KE Prabhakar is said to be eyeing Aluru constituency, which is Kotla Sujathamma’s constituency. As a result, both are at loggerheads.

Ditto with Dhone, where there is a pamphlet war going on between TDP incharge Dharmaram Subba Reddy and former MPP Srinivasulu. The former MPP is a staunch supporter of KE Prabhakar Rao and has been demanding that KE be given the incharge post. All these internecine squabbles are leaving the party’s diehard workers confused. At a time when the party has to get its act together, the factionalism is proving to be a huge problem.

Is suspension of renegade party leaders proving counter productive for Chandrababu?

0

Will Chandrababu Naidu’s strategy of coming down hard on those who backstabbed the party in the recent local body elections boomeranging? Are those who actually helped the YSRCP win the local body elections with handsome majorities trying to defame Chandrababu Naidu?

The TDP, which has dominated Nellore politics for decades, drew a blank in the recent municipal corporation elections It could not put up candidates in some wards, while the candidates put up by the party backed off at the last moment in some others. In yet other constituencies, the candidates did not even campaign. The party could put up a serious fight in only a handful of seats and even there, it was routed.

Senior leaders like Atchen Naidu, NImmakayala Chinna Rajappa, BC Janardhan and Nakka Anandababu, who camped in Nellore to supervise the party campaign were shocked at the back-stabbing by several leaders. They reportedly complained to Chandrababu Naidu about the behaviour of the party candidates and local leaders. N angry Chandrababu had suspended three leaders for backstabbing the party.

But it is now emerging that these suspended leaders are going home telling how arbitrary their suspension was. Their anti-Chandrababu tirade is proving counterproductive for both Chandrababu and the party. They are trying to tell the party workers that they were made scapegoats while the real culprits went scot-free. This is proving to be something of a headache for the party boss. He can neither backtrack the decision nor suspend anymore leaders.

TDP shows signs of revival in North Andhra

0

Across North Andhra, the TDP is showing signs of revival. Despite being out of power for over two years, the party’s hold at the grassroots level seems to be largely intact. In Madugula assembly constituency for instance, though the party leadership has decided not to contest the ZPTC and the MPTC elections, the local cadre had not only contested but also performed very well. This shows there is light at the end of the tunnel for the TDP.

Madugula has always been a formidable citadel of the TDP. The party had won six times and had won even in 2009, when the TDP lost power. Party MLA in 2009, Gavireddy Ramanaidu, had lost in 2014 and 2019. Since then, several leaders and cadres have shifted their allegiance to the YSRCP. Yet, the TDP did well in the recent local body elections.

In a bid to infuse new enthusiasm in the party, the party leadership has now appointed PVG Kumar as the incharge of the party in place of Gavireddy. The decision was reportedly based on a survey report that the TDP leadership has got. Since then the party has picked up slightly.

However, one major drawback for the TDP is the rampant groupism in the party. There are three major groups – each led by Gavireddy, PVG Kumar and the other one led by Paila Prasad. The TDP state-level leadership has to coordinate all the three groups and make them work with a common purpose. Sources say that the party’s base is intact and is it is improving by each passing day. Will the high command of the party bring all the groups on one table and make them work together?

Robin Sharma in Prakasam, TDP leaders jittery

0

With reports of Team Robin Sharma, chosen specially by no less a person than TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu himself to assess the performance of the MLAs and party incharges, there is a lot of disquiet in the Prakasam district unit. The survey is currently on and the TDP leaders from the district are on tenterhooks.

The TDP has won four of the 12 MLA seats in the district. One of them has later shifted the camp and is associated with the ruling YSRCP. The remaining three are steadfastly with the TDP. But, the party chief feels that the party activities in the district need some more pep and power. So, he has asked Robin Sharma to study, analyze and suggest ways to improve the party’s performance.

The general understanding is that the TDP is quite strong in the eastern regions of the district, while the western parts are its achilles heel. The survey would focus more on the western region and will suggest areas of improvement. TDP insiders say that based on the survey report, Chandrababu Naidu may even change the constituency incharges wherever needed.

As of now, the party does not have incharges for important constituencies such as Chirala and Kandukur. The survey could also identify the possible candidates for the incharge post for these two constituencies. In Chirala, the victorious MLA Karanam Balaram has shifted to the YSRCP.

Will BJP’s Dec 28 meet be a game-changer in AP?

0

It appears the BJP in Andhra Pradesh is slowly taking determined steps to emerge as a credible player for 2024 elections. The party now feels that it stands a chance in AP politics as the TDP is getting gradually weakened. With Pawan Kalyan proving to be a non-starter, the BJP feels that it is time for the party to go aggressive in AP.

To herald the changed attitude, the party is planning a public meeting in Vijayawada on December 28. The meeting would be attended by the top leadership of the party and they would provide guidance to the state unit to emerge as a credible political force in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The party is making all-out arrangements to ensure that the meeting is a success.

As a preparatory to the public meeting, the BJP has also signaled that it would maintain equi-distance from both the TDP as well as the YSRCP. Till now, the BJP went soft on the YSRCP, while going hammer and tongs on the TDP. Recent visit of Amit Shah to Tirupati has changed it all. He has categorically told the party leaders and cadres that the YSRCP was no friend of the BJP.

The party is going to adopt the three-pronged strategy of Operation Akarsh, equidistance and agitational programmes for Andhra Pradesh. But, will the AP voters forgive the BJP for its acts of omission and commission ?  Will the voter embrace the BJP? Will it be able to create an impact all alone without any credible alliances? Let’s wait and see how things pan out.

Will Mission 2024 be possible without TDP help?

0

The national leadership of the BJP has drawn up a plan ‘Mission 2024’ for South India. The party wants to win 40 seats in the five states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, AP and Telangana, besides the lone Puducherry lok Sabha seat in the union territory. But, can its Mission 2024 be achieved without the help of the Telugu Desam in Andhra Pradesh?

There are 119 Lok Sabha seats in South India and this region is BJP’s weakest link. The BJP is strong in North and West India and is steadily improving its strength in Eastern India comprising the North East, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Odisha. But, south is where it is at its weakest. Except Karnataka, the party is unable to put up a decent show anywhere else. Despite its best efforts, it has not opened its account in Kerala. In Tamil Nadu, it can win only when it latches on to some Dravidian Party. Its next best hope is Telangana, where it is steadily improving. But what about Andhra Pradesh, where there are 25 seats up for grabs?

In AP, the party is not in a position to win even a single seat. The situation in AP is worse than that of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. So the party will have to latch on to the Opposition TDP to win at least a single seat. The party got less than one percent vote in AP in 2019 elections. Given this situation, the only option is to join hands with the TDP. If highly placed sources are to be believed, the national leadership of the party is already exploring options and is trying to open a channel with the TDP. As of now, things are still in a nascent stage, sources say. As the time passes, the BJP will have to open up and seek TDP’s helping hand, say analysts..

Chandrababu’s survey makes dormant leaders jittery

0

Has the TDP begun the process of reinventing itself? It appears so. Party chief Chandrababu Naidu has launched the process of reenergising the party. A massive internal survey has reportedly begun to understand the lacunae, issues and problems within the party.

Chandrababu Naidu, who has realised that the party is moribund in several places in the state, has begun the process of talking to the leaders at various stages. He has chided several leaders for not putting up a fight in the local bodies. His latest survey in all the constituencies is aimed at examining if the local leaders are working hard to take the party’s messages to the people or not. It is also trying to analyse how serious they are in working for the party.

The survey is also studying who is backstabbing the party and who is working to confuse the party workers. It is based on this survey that Chandrababu Naidu has recently suspended two key leaders from the Nellore Municipal Corporation. Sources say that few more leaders from Nellore too would be suspended from the party.

Also, the survey is identifying future leaders of the party. Similarly, those would be best suited as the party candidates for the 2024 election too are being analysed, TDP sources say. Some seniors, however, are said to be unhappy with the survey as they have remained largely dormant during the last two years. But, Chandrababu is said to be determined to take the survey to the logical end.

Finally, Chandrababu cracks whip on back-stabbes

1

Finally, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu has begun cracking the whip. He has taken a serious view of indiscipline and back-stabbing in the party. He has identified the people who have played truant in the recent municipal elections and has begun acting decisively against such leaders. He has also sent clear signals that those who remain in the TDP, but keep contact with the YSRCP for personal gains would not be tolerated anymore.

Taking a serious view of the recent rout of the party in the Nellore Municipal Corporation, where the TDP was white-washed, Chandrababu Naidu has cancelled all the division committees in the city. Also, two key leaders – former municipal chairperson Azeez and Kotamreddy Srinivasulu Reddy – were suspendted for anti party activities. He told them in clear terms that they would face tough action if they did not mend their ways. He told them that he would take a final action against some leaders after a complete reported is given to him.

In the Nellore Municipal Corporation elections, several leaders had openly maintained contact with the YSRCP. Several division-level candidates withdrew their nominations at the last minister and thus gave a walkover to the rival. As a result, the party could not win even a single division in the elections.

Taking a serious view of the Trozan’s horses policy of some leaders, he said that the party needed young blood for its rejuvenation. He said he would not allow the compromise politics in the name of caste and religion. He said the party does not need those who compromise for personal gains and betray the party.

Parallel party offices become a headache for the TDP

1

Once rated among the strongest citadels, the Kurnool district now is a poor shadow of its former self for the TDP. There are incharges and leaders, but little coordination among the leaders. As a result, the party leaders are found to be working at cross purposes, trying to undercut one another. The situation in Aluru and Yemmiganur is alarming as each leader is functioning from separate offices.

In Yemmiganur, the party appointed BV Jayanageswar Reddy as the constituency incharge. But former union minister Kotla Suryaprakash Reddy has set up his own office and is seen conducting his own activities from this office. The situation has come to such a pass that Kotla ignored the requests from district president Somisetti for not setting up a separate office . Meanwhile Jayanageswara Reddy directed his supporters not to attend the inauguration of Kotla’s office.

Similar situation exists in Aluru, where constituency former incharge Veerabhadra Goud opened a separate office. This was deeply resented by the TDP constituency incharge Kotla Sujatha. Interestingly, Goud’s office does not have the party flag. When asked, Goud claimed that this was his personal office and not a party office. But there were no takers for his argument.

This intense groupism is hitting the TDP at its roots. The separate party offices are creating confusion among the party cadres, who do not know what to do and who to side with. The party top leadership is yet to take up this issue and bring some coordination among the leaders.

Chandrababu takes Penukonda TDP leaders to task over poll defeat

0

Opposition leader and TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu took a serious view of the party’s performance in the recent Penukonda municipal elections. Despite being a TDP stronghold, the results were too disappointing. Out of the 25 wards, the TDP could win just 2 seats. The council was bagged by the ruling YSRCP.

On Monday, Chandrababu Naidu reviewed the electoral rout in Vijayawada with the key leaders from Penukonda. In fact, the elections in Penukonda created hype and hoopla as this area is the borough of the Paritala family. The elections turned high profile as the paritala family and YSRCP’s minister Sankara Narayana clashed bitterly. In political significance and media attention, Penukonda was second only to Kuppam.

The TDP had appointed 25 sitting MLAs, ex MLAs, former MPs and MLCs for each ward. These biggies stayed in Penukonda and campaigned vigorously. Despite all this, the party fared very poorly. Chandrababu Naidu, who reviewed the results, came down heavily on the party leaders. He said the party leaders did not act in coordination and pointed out that this disunity cost the party dear.

He specially pointed out that Hindupur parliament incharge Parthasarathy did not act in coordination with other leaders. Chandrababu gave specific examples where the lack of coordination affected the outcome. He said he was aware of where things went awry and how opportunities were lost. He said he would soon overhaul the organizational setup and bring in young leaders. This strong warning let the cat among the pigeons for the local leaders.

Why is YSRCP disowning Vallabhaneni Vamsi?

0

Has YSRCP taken TDP renegade MP Vallabhaneni Vamsi for a ride? Has it employed the “use and throw” method to use him and then disown him? Why is the YSRCP claiming that it has nothing to do with Vallabhaneni Vamsi as he is a TDP MLA and not a YSRCP MLA?

On the issue of the abuse of Nara Bhuvaneswari on the floor of the assembly, the YSRCP is clearly on the defensive. It has realised that it has bitten more than it could chew. Now that the issue is turning out to be counter-productive for the party, the YSRCP is trying to wash its hands of the whole controversy. After Vamsi offered apologies, the YSRCP cabal virtually disowned him saying that it has got nothing to do with his apologies. The YSRCP is claiming that he is not a YSRCP member.

It is now becoming increasingly clear that the party is trying to wash its hands off the whole episode and is claiming that Vamsi is a TDP leader. Senior YSRCP MLAs Ambati Rambabu and Rachamalli Sivaprasad Reddy said that Vamsi is officially not a YSRCP member. This comment must have shocked Vamsi, who is now an unofficial member of the YSRCP.

Interestingly, it was Vamsi, who first spoke about Bhuvaneswari on the floor of the assembly. Later, YSRCP leaders such as Kodali Nani, Ambati Rambabu and Dwarampudi Chandrasekhar Reddy took cue and got more vocal. But soon after Chandrababu cried and the Nandamuri family entered the fray, they realised that the tide was turning against them. Hence they almost abandoned Vallabhaneni Vamsi. Meanwhile Vamsi apologised to Bhuvaneswari and this was reason enough to disown him completely.

Are these five persons responsible for TDP’s defeat in Kuppam?

0

A serious review of the recent municipal elections in AP is being taken up in the TDP state headquarters for the last two days. The party leaders and the local representatives and incharges from the areas that went to the elections are discussing threadbare to understand the reasons for the TDP performance.

Interestingly, the TDP did not officially contest the first batch of municipal elections. It has officially boycotted the elections and hence there was no review of the party’s performance at that time. But in the second set of municipal elections, the party had officially contested the elections. Hence, a performance review is being taken up. The party is happy that it has managed to win Darsi and Kondapalli quite convincingly. This has shown that the party can win if it works hard and fights sincerely.

However, the most ticklish issue is that of Kuppam, where the party lost badly. More importantly, Kuppam is the assembly constituency of no less a person than Chandrababu Naidu himself. Not just that, He himself has vigorously campaigned for the party in the Kuppam Municipality for the first ever time in his political career.

The party has come to the conclusion that the four or five incharges appointed by the party for Kuppam have alienated several local workers during and before the elections. In Kuppam, the party could win six of the 25 seats and forfeited 19 seats to the YSRCP. These leaders did not have a strategy to take along the local leaders. Now it remains to be seen what action Chandrababu Naidu will take on these leaders, whose working style largely led to the defeat of the party.

AP political scenario to change: TDP, Jana Sena to come together?

1

Are Jana Sena and the TDP merging? Are they coming together with an aim to win the 2024 elections? Are they going to make things tough for the ruling YSRCP? Is the AP political scene set for a major change in the coming days? These are the questions that are being hotly debated in the political circles of Andhra Pradesh.

The ruling TDP has reportedly set for itself a target of winning at least 100 MLA seats. It wants to win 80% of the seats in central Andhra, where it is relatively stronger, 50% of the seats in North Andhra and 30 percent in Rayalaseema. It has prepared a list of A grade seats, where it can win quite easily. In the B grade seats, there are seats that could be won if it makes a serious effort. The party is said to be working on this.

To win 100 seats, the party feels that it needs the support of Jana Sena. So, it has begun serious efforts at entering into an alliance with Jana Sena.

Though the Jana Sena too feels the same, it is apprehensive that the TDP could once again take it for a ride. In 2014, the Jana Sena had helped the TDP win the election. But, the TDP did not reciprocate the way it should. Hence Jana Sena reportedly wants some guarantees from the TDP. It feels that the TDP might give it fewer seats and limit the party to the margins.

The Jana Sena reportedly feels that the TDP should offer it more seats and should even specify the ministries the TDP would give in the event of the TDP coming to power. The Jana Sena wants this arrangement to be worked out before actually formalising the alliance. It wants guarantees about the TDP not marginalise Jana Sena and poach on its leaders. If sources are to be believed, both parties are trying to arrive at some agreement. Let’s wait and watch how things unfold.

Did TDP top brass ask cadre not to attack Jr NTR?

0

Is there a re-think among the TDP that attacking Junior NTR over the way he responded to the obnoxious comments on Nara Bhuvaneswari on the floor of assembly is not the right strategy? Have some top TDP leaders advised the party cadres not to alienate NTR by attacking him over his comments on the whole issue?

The whole of the NTR family came together to warn the YSRCP, which obnoxiously attacked Nara Chandrababu Naidu and passed snide comments on his wife Nara Bhuvaneswari on the floor of the house. But, Junior NTR was not made part of the family photo op. He later issued a statement condemning the attack on Bhuvaneswari.

However, many TDP leaders felt that NTR’s comments were tame and not strong enough. They also slammed him saying that he was close to both Kodali Nani and Vallabhaneni Vamsi, who led the attack. They also said that it is his proximity to these leaders that has made NTR to soft-pedal the issue. The pro-TDP media too took up the issue and began targeting Junior NTR.

However, there seems to be a re-think in the TDP top brass. They have reportedly asked the cadre not to target NTR. In fact, NTR has not left the TDP and has never said that he would work with the YSRCP. As of now, his focus was on films and he was being diplomatic to protect the interests of his big-ticket producers, who have invested heavily. Secondly, by targeting NTR, the party was losing focus on the YSRCP. It is the YSRCP that needs to be targeted and exposed, not NTR. By making it a TDP-vs NTR issue, the party will only end up losing his support.

Hence Bharat, the son-in-law of Nandamuri Balakrishna has openly praised NTR for criticising YSRCP. This is an attempt to set the things right, say party sources. Bharat and Lokesh are both sons-in-law of Balakrishna, who in turn is the brother-in-law of Chandrababu. Sources say the directions not to attack NTR have come from the top. The TDP top brass has cleverly ensured that the issue was not diverted.

Will TDP regain its lost glory in Narasaraopet?

0

Till about 20 years, this assembly constituency was a veritable TDP citadel. Today, it is a poor shadow of its former self. The party is in totters and the leadership is clueless. Will the TDP be able to reclaim its lost citadel? Will the yellow flag with the smiling visage of legendary NTR flutter again on this constituency?

Since the dawning of the TDP in the Telugu political firmament, Narasaraopet constituency in Guntur district is known as the impregnable fortress for the TDP. The party has consistently returned the TDP to the assembly. Dr Kodela Sivaprasada Rao was the unquestioned king of this constituency for decades. However, 2004 defeat changed it all.

For the past 20 years, the TDP could not win from Narasaraopet. Finally, Kodela had to leave Narsaraopet and contest from neighbouring Sattenapalli to re-enter the assembly in 2014. Since Kodela shifted to Sattenapalli, the TDP has continuously slipped and lost the 2014 and 2019 elections. The YSRCP has fortified itself and has become unassailable.

There is no leader worth the salt in Narasaraopet now. Aravinda Babu, who contested and lost on TDP ticket in 2019 is unsure of himself. Even the party cadres are unenthused by his leadership. Several TDP leaders have recently met former MP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao and told him that if Aravinda Babu is made the candidate again, the party would be doomed for good.

The TDP top leadership is said to be looking for an alternative to Aravinda Babu. The party is focusing on new and emerging leaders who have the strength and the resources to take on the YSRCP. Let’s wait and see how things shape up in Narasaraopet for the TDP in the coming days.

Is PCC chief shailajanath planning to join TDP?

1

Seeing no future for the Congress Party in the state of Andhra Pradesh, APCC chief and former Minister Sake Shailajanath is said to be mulling joining the Telugu Desam Party. Highly placed sources close to Shailajanath say that he has been holding parleys with the TDP leaders for quite some time on the issue.

While officially there is as yet no confirmation, sources say that in the bargain Shailajanath will be given the TDP ticket to contest. Two of his associates too would get the TDP tickets in the 2024 elections. Shailajaath is believed to be readying up to send in his resignation to the Congress Party. The Congress Party does not have any significant presence anywhere in Andhra Pradesh and has not put up candidates for the MPTCs and ZPTCs in the recent election.

The party sees no future for itself. Past PCC chief Raghuveera Reddy has gone into retirement. He is busy with temple construction and the development of his village. Shailajanath, who succeeded him, has not taken up any party activity in recent times. Many of the Congress leaders have defected either to the TDP or to the YSRCP.

Shailajanath is from the Dalit community and would be seen as a significant addition to the party’s dalit leadership. The only problem is the opposition from the Paritala family. Shailajanath aggressively criticised Paritala Ravi during the debate in the assembly after the latter’s death. The Paritala family has not forgiven Shailajanath for this. The family is said to be opposed to his joining. Yet, preparations are reportedly on in TDP to bring Shailajanath into the party.

TDP bags Kondapalli municipal chairman post!

0

The opposition TDP on Wednesday (today) dealt a blow to ruling YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh by bagging chairman post in Kondapalli municipality.

In the election held today, TDP candidate Chitti babu got 16 votes while YSRCP candidate Jogi Ramu got 15 votes.

TDP Vijayawada MP Kesineni Nani ensured victory for TDP by one vote by exercising his vote as ex officio member.

Out of 29 wards in Kondapalli municipality, both TDP and YSRCP have won 14 wards each. The remaining one was won by TDP rebel candidate who extended support to TDP later. With this TDP bagging chairman post was certain.

But YSRCP gave a twist by asking its MLA Vasantha Krishna to utilize his vote in this election as ex officio member

TDP too roped in its MP Kesineni to utilize his vote as ex officio member.

With this, TDP strength increased to 16 and YSRCP to 15.

Although YSRCP made all efforts to lure TDP councilors with money to win chairman post, it failed as none from TDP supported YSRCP candidate.

YSRCP demanded secret voting to lure TDP councilors but officials rejected and conducted open voting by raising hands.

The YSRCP councilors argued that Vijayawada TDP MP Kesineni Nani is ineligible to vote in this election despite AP High Court issuing orders in Nani’s favour.

YSRCP leaders block TDP’s Kondapalli municipal election!

0

The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission has postponed the election of chairperson of Kondapalli municipality on Tuesday (today) after YSRCP councilors went berserk, resorted to violence in the meeting hall.

The YSRCP councilors argued that Vijayawada TDP MP Kesineni Nani is ineligible to vote in this election despite AP High Court issuing orders in Nani’s favour.

As TDP victory was certain, the YSRCP councilors obstructed election by damaging furniture in the meeting hall raising slogans against TDP.
They boycotted election and staged a walkout.

The returning officer postponed the election indefinitely.

Jagan’s latest move added to uncertainty: Opposition

0

The Opposition parties in Andhra Pradesh on Monday reacted sharply to Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government’s move to repeal two laws enacted last year to create three state capitals to come out with a comprehensive legislation saying this has only added to the uncertainty.

Leader of Opposition and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N. Chandrababu Naidu said the latest move by YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government would further harm the state which was already suffering due to its decision for trifurcation of state capital.

TDP politburo member and former union minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju alleged that Jagan government was destroying the state by adding to the instability. Reacting to the government’s decision, he said nothing good can happen to the state under YSRCP rule.

Raju claimed that the government repealed the laws as it was sure of losing the legal battle. He remarked that the Jagan government can only act to take revenge on its political rivals but cannot provide good governance.

TDP general secretary and MLC Nara Lokesh alleged that the government is playing ‘mind games’ with the people by turning the Assembly into a forum for spreading untruths and half truths.

Lokesh strongly objected to the manner in which the Jagan Reddy regime passed the latest bill in the House, withdrawing the previous 3 Capitals and CRDA Repeal Acts. Once again, the chief minister misled the people by saying that the people gave a huge mandate for his capital trifurcation plan in 2019, he said.

Nara Lokesh reminded the CM of his repeated statements at the time of elections that he constructed his house in Amaravati and that it would be the one and only Capital for Andhra Pradesh. In fact, Jagan Reddy went to the 2019 election on the plank of developing Amaravati. But now, he was twisting facts and telling lies without a sense of commitment or responsibility.

Lokesh deplored that even now, the chief minister was not leaving his adamant and arrogant stand on a contentious issue like capital shifting.

Actor politician Pawan Kalyan said that the government acted in haste to escape from the legal case in high court. He alleged that by announcing that it will bring new Bills with more clarity, the government pushed the state into further uncertainty.

Jana Sena leader said people feel that at a time when the high court was expeditiously hearing 54 cases filed against the three capital laws, the government took back the laws as it had realized that its defeat in the court was certain.

Pawan said it was unfortunate that rulers have created a situation that even after seven-and-a-half years following formation of new Andhra Pradesh, the people don’t know where the new state capital will come up.

BJP state president Somu Veerraju said the Jagan government has no vision to ensure decentralization. He alleged that during the last two years, the government did nothing for the development of Visakhapatnam or Rayalaseema region.

CPI-M state secretary P. Madhu said it was unfortunate that instead of putting an end to the row over state capital, the chief minister announced that he will bring a new comprehensive law. He felt that the state government repealed the two laws in view of the people’S sentiments and the legal cases.

Junior NTR’s response: Beginning of a rapprochement with TDP?

0

Junior NTR’s solidarity with the Nandamuri family on the issue of the YSRCP MLAs’ abusive attack on Nara Bhuvaneswari is being seen as a very significant development. NTR has been keeping away from the Nandamuris for quite some time and has not involved himself in any party programme.

In fact, even when his sister Suhasini contested from Kukatpally in 2018, he stayed away from the campaign. He did not join her at any stage. He has also not joined the TDP campaign after the 2009 elections. But this time around, he has come out in support of Nara Bhuvaneswari through a video clip released on Saturday. NTR said that it’s not just the question of the NTR family being insulted, but it is the question of insult to womanhood. In his statement, he took exception to the comments made by the YSRCP MLAs.

This is the first time that Junior NTR has come out after the 2009 elections. Interestingly, he took care to maintain his distance from the NTR family. He mentioned this as an insult to the entire womanhood and not just the Nandamuri family. He also ensured that he did not do anything controversial as his film career would be at stake given the vindictive nature of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

At the same time, he ensured that he stood by the NTR family in this hour. He also took care to ensure that he did not mention the name of Chandrababu Naidu. Despite all this, this may become the reason for rapprochement with the TDP., sources say.
