Former TDP MLA Philip C. Tocher joins YSRCP

1

Former Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Christian minority leader Philip C. Tocher has joined Andhra Pradesh’s ruling Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP).

Tocher joined YSRCP in the presence of party founder and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday at his camp office.

The former MLA was accompanied by YSRCP MLC Lella Appi Reddy and party leaders Kathera Suresh and Kathera Henry Christina.

Back in January, Tocher resigned from the TDP, accusing party supremo Nara Chandrababu Naidu for his remarks on the Christian community.

He was with TDP since its inception in 1983 and went on to be nominated as the Anglo-Indian MLA during the TDP regime from 2014 to 2019.

TDP complains to Andhra DGP against senior IPS officer

0

Senior Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader Varla Ramaiah on Thursday complained to Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police (DGP) Gautam Sawang that senior IPS officer P.V. Sunil Kumar is allegedly indulging in unconstitutional activities.

He alleged that Kumar established an organization called AIM (Ambedkar’s Indian Mission) and has been carrying out divisive activities under its banner.

“Kumar, a senior civil servant in AP and currently working as additional DGP, CID, has been making derogatory statements that are unsuitable to the conduct of a civil servant,” claimed Ramaiah.

The TDP leader complained that the IPS officer’s alleged statements are against the spirit of unity in diversity and the Constitution of India.

According to Ramaiah, Kumar said that the British brought education and health to Dalits and went on to claim that these statements undermine the Constitution as envisaged by its architect B.R. Ambedkar.

Ramaiah claimed that such statements put the vision of Ambedkar aimed at uplifting socially deprived sections of India in the dark.

He alleged that in one AIM meeting organized by Kumar, Moka Satti Babu, additional superintendent of police (ASP), Krishna district spoke in support of terrorists.

“Babu in his speech drawing the example of terrorist that hit the World Trade Centre with aeroplane has asked the youth to emulate such commitment. Further, he said that only a commitment to die parallel to that of the terrorist will help,” he claimed.

According to the TDP general secretary such speeches are instigating the youth in general and Dalit youth in particular.

“In effect, the statements made by the two officers mentioned above are not in good taste and are derogatory, illegal, unconstitutional and divisive in nature,” he claimed.

Babu alleged that suspicions have been raised about the motives behind AIM and alleged that the organization is being used as a front to perpetuate divisive politics and hatred.

He claimed that those statements attract the application of IPC Sections 124 A, 153 A and 295 A, including asserting that Kumar and Babu violated All India Service (conduct) Rules, 1968.

“Therefore, it is appealed to initiate action against such erring officers pursuing divisive agenda by invoking terrorists and colonial rulers,” he wrote to Sawang.

Lokesh begins youth outreach, looks leaner, more communicative

Nara Lokesh is slowly but surely trying to reach out to youth, students and women in a systematic manner. With Corona restrictions and lockdowns trying him down to his residence, he has begun an outreach programme online to interact with the youth, most of whom would become voters by 2024.

These outreach programmes, which began a week ago are aimed at repackaging himself. A leaner, tee-shirt clad, bearded Lokesh is trying to talk to the students, especially the girl students. He is raising right questions such as lack of jobs and the YSRCP government’s plans to hold examinations despite Covid restriction. On June 10, he interacted with youths on the issue of unemployment. On June 16, he interacted with intermediate students, whose exams have been postponed.

Lokesh tried to allay the fears of the students about the Covid uncertainties. Using the online platform, he attacked the YSRCP government. He called education minister Adimulam Suresh as a confusion minister and termed YS Jagan as ‘mental mama.’

This programme, which was aired on all major TV channels and their YouTube versions, tried to position Lokesh as a communicative , youth friendly and concerned leader. In a clever move, Lokesh covered up the shortcomings in his speech by speaking mostly in English. Secondly, he tried free chatter to endear himself to the youths.

This surely must be one of the strategies suggested by poll spin doctor Robin Sharma, who is advising the TDP. But the response seems to be encouraging. The general feedback is that Lokesh needs to improve his looks. He has become too lean these days. The lean frame is gawky and he needs to work out on this, said PR and image-making experts.

HC ruling on Mansas is ultimate victory of justice: TDP

1

Telugu Desam Party national general secretary and Andhra Pradesh opposition leader Nara Lokesh called the High Court’s judgment to rescind the state government’s orders on Maharaja Alak Narayana Society of Arts and Science (MANSAS) and the reinstatement of Ashok Gajapathi Raju as its chairman, as the ultimate victory of law and justice.

“With the High Court cancelling the government’s GOs on Mansas Trust, it has been proved that law and justice are the ultimate winners,” said Lokesh.

He claimed that this ruling is a slap in the face of the government which is allegedly issuing undemocratic and unconstitutional dark orders at midnight.

The TDP leader exhorted that the judgment brought more glory to the Pusapati family which donated land and assets worth thousands of crores of rupees.

“This is the victory of public love, law, justice and the Constitution with the blessings of Simahachalam Appanna,” said Lokesh and congratulated Raju.

Likewise, TDP supremo and former chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu welcomed the judgment and termed it as a slap in the face of ‘Tughlaq CM’, hinting at Chief Minister Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy.

“Finally, the long arm of the law and the inexorable wheels of justice have put a full stop to Reddy’s nefarious plans to plunder thousands of acres of prime lands and multi-crore properties belonging to the temples that are run by the Mansas Trust,” claimed Naidu.

According to the TDP chief, the Court’s order would give a new lease of life to thousands of students and employees.

However, AP Endowments Minister Vellampalli Srinivas said the government will appeal in the Supreme Court against the judgment.

Andhra govt is under-reporting Covid deaths: TDP

0

Telugu Desam Party national general secretary and Andhra Pradesh opposition leader Nara Lokesh on Monday alleged that the state government is hiding the actual number of Covid deaths to deny paying compensation.

“We have been saying this from the beginning – the YSRCP government is shamelessly covering up deaths to deny compensation in the future. The latest figures have shocked us,” alleged Lokesh, citing a media report.

According to the data shared by the TDP’s second in command, more than 1 lakh deaths occurred in May but only 2,938 were categorized as Covid deaths.

From the beginning of the pandemic until Sunday, the AP government officially reported that 11,940 people have succumbed to the virus.

Meanwhile, Lokesh wrote to Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan, requesting his immediate intervention in the ‘opaque and highly questionable practices of the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC)’, pertaining to the Group I selections.

“The conduct of the Constitutional body (APPSC), some of whose members were appointed by your office in the past two years, has led to aspirants of Group I examination to approach the High Court,” he wrote.

Lokesh demanded a thorough enquiry by a sitting judge to ‘restore trust and legitimacy’ on APPSC.

TDP leaders, cadre in sleep mode in this district

1

Once upon a time, this district was deemed an impregnable fortress for the TDP. It gave some of its biggest leaders and played a critical role in enhancing TDP’s prospects. But today, the TDP is much weakened, dispirited in this very district.

Yes. We are talking about West Godavari district. Once a stronghold, the district today is one of the weakest links in TDP’s organizational chain. The cadre and the leaders are completely demoralized.

The district has 15 MLA seats, of which the TDP has just two seats. In the 2019 elections, only Nimmala Rama Naidu from Palacole and Mantena Ramaraju from Undi could register victories. Several big names like Maganti Babu, Chintamaneni Prabhakar, Pithani Satyanarayana and KS Jawahar had to bite the dust.

Soon after the YSRCP came to power, it began witch-hunting firebrand leader Chintamaneni. He is now bogged down by cases and has withdrawn into a shell. Similarly, Maganti Babu too has been battling family tragedies and business losses. Ministers Pithani and Jawahar are seen only when the party calls for some protest. Otherwise, they are totally inactive.

Of the two MLAs, Mantena Rama Raju of Undi is said to be in sleep mode. He has not taken part in any party programmes in recent times. Only Rama Naidu is active in party affairs. Only he is seen addressing press conferences and planning protests.

To add to the TDP woes, the party fared poorly in the recent elections to the gram panchayat, mandal and district parishads. The performance was so poor that the cadre are now in self-protection mode. Many are leaving the TDP in drones. The party leaders are doing nothing to arrest this trend. No leader of repute has toured the district or even held virtual meets to boost the morale of the party in the district.

Only 3 of 30 TDP corporators attend party meet

1

A rebellion of sorts is brewing in Visakhapatnam urban TDP. Several of the winning corporators of the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation are now playing truant. They are skipping the party meets and are defying the party’s diktats.

Recently when a meeting of the party corporators was held in Vizag, only three of the 30 corporators attended, while all others gave the meeting a miss. The corporators of the party are said to be looking sideways. Several corporators are reportedly in direct touch with the YSRCP leaders and are even planning to defect en masse. Some corporators have plainly told the TDP bosses that they would not oppose the YSRCP for opposition’s sake. They said that their opposition or cooperation would be based on issues.

Even otherwise, the TDP is almost orphaned in Visakhapatnam urban. The party has four MLAs from Urban areas. Of them, Vasupalli Ganesh has already joined the YSRCP. Another MLA Gana Babu is keeping a safe distance from the TDP leadership. As for Ganta Srinivasa Rao, no one knows if he is in the TDP or not. Even the party seems to have given up on him. Only Velagapudi Ramakrishna is actively involved in party affairs. Former MLA Palla Reddy is now made the incharge of the party.

Ever since Reddy became the party incharge, he has been reportedly asking the party corporators to do everything possible to obstruct the YSRCP. But, several corporators feel that they should first focus on the development of their divisions. So, many corporators are now said to be skipping the meetings.

TDP supremo condemns special school demolition in Vizag

0

Former Andhra Pradesh chief minister and principal opposition leader Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday condemned the alleged demolition of a school for specially-abled children in the port city of Visakhapatnam recently.

“The latest in the demolition acts of this government in Visakhapatnam is appalling and disgusting. It is sad that the Government has targeted Hidden Sprouts, a no-profit school for children with different intellectual and physical abilities,” wrote Naidu in a letter to chief secretary Aditya Nath Das.

According to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) supremo, the school was leased by the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) in 2013 with two rooms and was serving 190 students, most of them from financially unstable families.

Naidu alleged that government authorities demolished the temporary sheds and seized the school premises on Sunday.

“The demolition has been carried out against the principles of natural justice without giving any written notice. It is a shame that such an atrocious act was allowed to (be) committed in a civilised society,” he alleged.

In his letter to Das, the opposition leader said that the ‘government had lost the moral right to remain in power after the demolition of the school for children with different intellectual and physical abilities’.

Likewise, in the light of this incident, Naidu appealed to the chief secretary to support non-profit organisations serving the society.

“Justice needs to be done to the school children currently enrolled at Hidden Sprouts. Strong action needs to be initiated against the officials responsible for such a ghastly act in collaboration with the land mafia and land grabbers,” Naidu claimed.

Meanwhile, official information about this incident is awaited from GVMC commissioner G. Srijana

Best friend’s daughter is the biggest worry for this TDP leader

1

Jaleel Khan is a great survivor. If TDP declines ticket, he hops into the YSRCP and if YSRCP denies him a place, he comes back to the TDP. He somehow manages to win and go on to become an MLA. But this time around, he has a real problem on hand. He has nowhere to go if the TDP refuses him a ticket. And indications are that he may not get a party ticket next time.

This is because Kesineni Nani, the Vijayawada MP, is eyeing Vijayawada West assembly segment for his daughter Shwetha. She has already begun working in the constituency and is preparing for 2024. Now Kesineni is without doubt a very strong politician in Vijayawada and was one among the three TDP leaders who swam against the tide and won as MPs in 2024 elections. Resource rich Kesineni is virtually running the show for the party in Vijayawada and Chandrababu would find it very difficult to refuse a ticket to Jaleel Khan.

In the recent municipal elections, Kesineni announced his daughter as the Mayoral candidate without even bothering to consult anyone in the party. The party had to simply agree to his announcement and go ahead. It is another matter that the TDP could not win enough seats in Vijayawada corporation elections.

With such powerful politician pushing his daughter’s case Jaleel Khan has nowhere to go. He is not welcome into the YSRCP, which has a sitting MLA, who is a powerful minister in Jagan’s cabinet. He cannot go to Congress, which is dead as a Dodo in AP. The other alternative is of course the BJP. But, will his own community vote for him if he joins the BJP?

CM favouring Gujarat firms to escape from cases: TDP

1

The opposition parties have launched a direct attack on the Jaganmohan Reddy regime on the issue of expansion of Amul Dairy activities in all parts of Andhra Pradesh. The TDP has termed it as a desperate attempt by the Chief Minister to use the good services of the Gujarat based companies to escape from the CBI and ED cases.

Ex Minister Alapati Raja termed it as laughable that Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy was promising to protect the AP dairy farmers’ interests while conspiring to destroy the AP-based cooperative dairies. The CM should answer to the public why his Government was not showing the same sort of enthusiasm to protect the interests of the State’s own dairies. Why was undue patronage given to a dairy company of a different State?

The TDP leaders posed many questions to the ruling party. Why was the Chief Minister showing special love and affection for Amul? Only to save himself from the CBI and ED cases, Mr. Jagan Reddy was handing over all the public properties and private companies of AP to the Gujarat-based industrialists. There was a need to promote the 13 cooperative and 7 private dairies in the State if the Government had any concern for the well being of the AP dairy farmers.

The TDP leader termed it as unfortunate and objectionable that the AP Government itself was spending Rs. 6,551 Cr of public funds to provide basic infrastructure for a private company like Amul.

Moddu Srinu fate awaits Dalit Judge in jail: TDP

1

The political temperatures rose over reports about a ‘knife’ found in the barracks of the Chittoor jail in which Judge S. Ramakrishna was held as an undertrial prisoner. The TDP leaders discuss this at a meeting of key leaders presided over by party National President N Chandrababu Naidu. They expressed fears that there was a serious threat to the life of the Dalit Judge.

The opposition leaders suspected a conspiracy going on by the YCP leaders to terminate the Dalit Judge just like how Moddu Srinu was killed in the jail in the past. The Judge’s son Vamsi Krishna has already complained about the threat being posed to his father from a suspicious fellow prisoner in the same barrack. Dalit Dr. Sudhakar was mentally, physically and socially tortured by the Government just for asking for Covid safety equipment. He was driven to death.

Now, Judge Ramakrishna was targetted just because he did not succumb to the inducements and threats to the ruling party leaders. He just complained to the senior judges in the higher courts. For that, the Government and Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy launched a witch hunt.

The TDP deplored that Judge Ramakrishna was implicated in false cases and sent to jail. Now, another ill motivated prisoner was reportedly sent to the barracks to threaten and harass the Dalit judge. Based on the judge’s son’s complaint, the prisoner concerned was shifted to another barrack but a knife was found under the bed of the suspicious prisoner who was shifted to another barrack.

‘Amul Baby’ giving away AP wealth to Gujarat: Lokesh

1

TDP MLC Nara Lokesh has launched a scathing attack on CM Jaganmohan Reddy, saying that the YCP regime is bent on handing over valuable public and private properties in Andhra Pradesh to the Gujarat-based companies. CM Jagan Reddy has literally turned into an ‘Amul Baby’ by ruthlessly trying to give away all the long-standing dairies in the State to Amul Dairy. Quite alarmingly, the AP Government has stooped to the level of preparing to spend Rs. 3,000 Cr public funds of AP to pass on benefits to Amul.

Lokesh visited Vijayawada and called on Sangam Dairy Chairman and TDP ex MLA Dhulipalla Narendra who was released on bail after a prolonged legal struggle. Lokesh said it was only after Mr. Narendra successfully exposed the Chief Minister’s misinformation campaign on ‘insider trading’ that false cases were filed and political victimisation was stepped up against the TDP leader.

The AP Government would have to pay Rs. 500 Cr public funds towards principal and interest to Amul every year because of the CM’s wrong policies. Dhulipalla Narendra had exposed the wrong ‘insider trading’ claims with the help of a ‘sting operation’ in the Capital City area. The YCP leaders should explain whether it was wrong on the part of Mr. Narendra to give Rs. 4 more per litre additionally to the dairy farmers. Was it a crime to provide medical services to the local people by constructing a hospital? The Sangam Dairy was rendering wonderful services for decades but now it became a target for political vendetta.

The TDP MLC warned that some officers were implementing the partisan and factionist Raja Reddy Constitution and they would surely face serious consequences. The TDP would pay back with compound interest to each and everyone who were showing unde enthusiasm to victimise the opposition and to destroy the State.

Several TDP leaders in Andhra put under house arrest

0

Several leaders of the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP), claimed they have been put under house arrest, by the police in Andhra Pradesh on Monday.

The development unfolded in several districts, as leaders prepared to embark on a ‘Bharisa’ program to commiserate with patients receiving treatment in Covid hospitals of all districts.

The TDP leaders who were subjected to house arrest, include deputy party leader in the assembly, Nimmala Ramanaidu, MLA Ganni Veeranjaneyulu, MLC BTech Ravi, and several district level leaders.

The TDP has condemned the house arrests and criticised the YSRCP government for the move.

The TDP has been stridently attacking the state government over the growing number of Covid cases in the state. It has been providing support to Covid patients and victims.

TDP national general secretary Nara Lokesh accused Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy of indulging in vendetta politics.

In its latest initiative, ‘Bharosa’ the TDP decided to fan out to hospitals to meet Covid patients, and express solidarity, and also obtain first hand information about the problems they’re facing.

Andhra, Telangana CMs playing with people’s lives, says TDP

1

Telugu Desam Party’s Andhra Pradesh unit president K. Atchannaidu on Sunday slammed the YSRCP government for not immediately taking any steps to resolve the problems of the Covid patients who were being prevented from entering Telangana.

Voicing his concern over Covid patients being stopped on the inter-state border, Atchannaidu alleged that the chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana were playing with the lives of the common people at a time when the Coronavirus epidemic had caused untold suffering.

The TDP leader condemned the lathicharge on the motorists by the Telangana police at Pondugala checkpost.

Atchannaidu alleged that the Telangana police were not allowing Andhra Pradesh vehicles on the border and even threatening the vehicle users if they tried to cross over. He said that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy was behaving as if these border problems were not his concern. “It’s like pouring out the problems of the AP people before a deaf man. In no other State in the country, incidents like these are happening,” he said.

Atchanaidu asked whether Telangana was not part of India to deny entry to people from Andhra Pradesh. He said the AP officials were not talking to their Telangana counterparts when such untoward incidents were taking place on the borders. The Governments should explain whether some other laws outside of the Indian constitution were in force in Telangana. They were not showing any humanitarian concerns to the AP patients.

The TDP leader wanted to know how the AP Government would react if the Telangana officials would stop any ruling YSRCP MLA or minister on the borders from going to take emergency treatment in Hyderabad.

Atchannaidu demanded the AP Government to form a task force so as to coordinate with the Telangana officials for resolving the border problems. The TDP would not watch silently if the AP government continued to ignore the patients’ woes on the borders, he added.

Lokesh tells SP to leave khaki, wear blue uniform

0

The TDP leaders are furious over the ‘illegal detention’ of pro-TDP social media activists Mahesh and Kalyan by the Arundelpet police in the Guntur district. They are mostly targetting Guntur Urban SP Ammi Reddy. Chandrababu Naidu even wrote a letter and urged the DGP to release the two illegally arrested activists unconditionally and also initiate stringent action against the erring police officers.

But, TDP MLC Nara Lokesh went a step ahead and made a scathing attack on the Guntur Urban SP. Lokesh asked why the SP was silent on the cases not being booked based on the complaints given by the TDP leaders against Minister Seediri Appala Raju. In return, the Guntur police filed reverse cases against the complainants. Ammi Reddy also had no answers when he was asked why cases were not being booked against the YSRCP social media activists when they were posting nasty videos against the TDP.

Mr. Lokesh, in his first such aggressive criticism against the police, advised Mr. Ammi Reddy to give up the khaki uniform and wear the YSRCP blue dress if he would like to serve only his caste. Sitting in the SP office in Guntur, it would not be correct for the SP to take unlawful orders from the Tadepalli residence.

TDP to boycott AP Assembly budget session!

1

The opposition TDP has decided to boycott the upcoming budget session of AP Legislative Assembly.

The TDP said there is no point in holding ‘name sake budget session’ just for a single day on May 20 and for this reason they have decided to boycott the session.

TDLP deputy leader in Assembly K Atchennaidu said that Jagan government is holding name sake budget session for a day out of fear that his government will collapse if Assembly session is not conducted within a gap of six months as per Constitution.

He said the budget session will be meaningful only if it is held for at least two weeks to discuss on budget proposals and appropriation bill.

He criticised YSRCP government’s plans to secure Assembly approval for budget without any debate. He said a full fledged debate is a must to approve AP Budget for 2021-22 which is as big as Rs 2.11 lakh crore budget.

He questioned the rationale behind holding Assembly session at this stage when there are over 2 lakh Covid active cases in state while not holding budget session in March when Covid active cases were just 900.

Rebel MP’s son writes to Centre on custodial torture

2

The arrest and alleged torture of Narsapuram MP Raghurama Raju have become a subject of heated debates all over. Now, the rebel MP’s son Bharat Raju has written a letter to Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla. He said that his father was put to torture and humiliation while in the custody of the AP CID.

Bharat Raju attached the photos of the injuries inflicted on his father Raghurama Raju. All this happened while the MP was in the custody of the CID. These officials should be held responsible for this. The CID officers cannot plead ignorance of this custodial violence. The MP’s son urged the Centre to inquire into the custodial torture of the AP MP and take stringent action against the officials responsible for this.

On its part, the AP CID adopted a strong defensive posture, saying that they were still investigating the conspiracy hatched by Raghurama Raju by joining hands with some disgruntled elements. In this, the MP’s chats with different persons would play a key role in unravelling the conspiracy that was aimed to defame the YCP Government.

The CID was claiming that very soon, they would be able to crack the mystery of whoever played a role behind the Narsapuram MP’s conspiracy against the regime.

Naidu will meet same fate as Raju, threatens YCP

The threats and counter threats have reached a peak between the ruling YCP leaders and their Opposition TDP counterparts on the issue of the alleged beating up of Narsapuram MP Raghurama Raju. YCP MLA Ambati Rambabu has made fresh allegations that it was TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu who was instigating Raghurama Raju to make baseless and unwarranted remarks against their Government.

Rambabu warned of dire consequences if the TDP leaders continued their vicious propaganda. Now, Chandrababu Naidu was shivering with fear that he would meet the same fate as Mr. Raju. This would certainly happen. Naidu ran the show from behind the scenes till now. But the arrest of Raju has shocked the TDP chief.
The YCP MLA said that Raghurama Raju was a big actor and he complained about his beating up immediately after his bail application was rejected in the AP High Court. The TDP and the yellow media were giving all their support to the arrested Raju for obvious reasons.

Naidu’s allegations of third degree used against Raju would only expose his fears of facing the law. Rambabu said that it was sad that even Purandeswari was supporting Naidu now.

YCP-TDP mutual cases continue over N440K

3

The Jaganmohan Reddy Government is not ready to take light of the comments made by Chandrababu Naidu about the origin and spread of the N440K variant. The Kurnool police made much ado but had to back out from giving notice to Naidu at the last minute a few days ago. Later, another similar case was filed in Guntur town against the TDP chief.

In a counter to that, the TDP leaders once again made a complaint against YCP Minister Seediri Appala Raju in the Arundelpet police station. As such, the YCP and the TDP leaders were filing counter cases against each other. The police were filing FIRs upon receiving complaints against Naidu and other Opposition leaders. But, they were not doing the same when the TDP leaders were filing complaints against Appala Raju.

In Kurnool also, the TDP filed complaints against the Minister as a counter to the YCP cases against Naidu. The political game continued to take twists and turns. However, the ruling party was not able to do one thing that was very dear to it. That was to arrest Chandrababu.

The TDP leaders say all their party leaders from village to State levels have accepted their fate and they now became hardened so much that they wanted to take on the YCP regardless of the cases and arrests.

TDP fact finding committee on Ruia oxygen tragedy

4

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has formed a fact-finding committee to look into the tragic death of many Covid patients due to lack of timely oxygen supply at the Ruia Hospital in Tirupati. TDP AP president Atchannaidu announced that the committee would check details of the human tragedy as the Government was trying to cover it up.

The fact finding committee would consist of Tirupati parliamentary constituency TDP president G. Narasimha Yadav, former Minister N. Amarnath Reddy, party national general secretary Nallari Kishore Kumar Reddy, former MLA M. Sugunamma, Chittoor parliamentary constituency party president Pulivarthy Nani, Bathyala Chengalrayudu and Mabbu Devanarayana Reddy.

Ms. Sugunamma and other members tried to visit Ruia to meet Covid patients there but the police arrested them and shifted to the Alipiri police station. CPI National Secretary K. Narayana was also arrested when he was proceeding to Tirupati to express his protest.

Atchannaidu said that the Government abdicated its responsibility at a very critical time when the Coronavirus second wave was shaking up lakhs of people all over the State. The Government was providing wrong information about the treatment facilities which was causing a lot of problems for the patients and leading to their untimely deaths.
