Congress holds Dalits, tribals meet in Telangana

0

A large number of people assembled at Indravelli in Telangana’s Adilabad district on Monday for the public meeting held by the opposition Congress to highlight the alleged injustice being meted out to Dalits and tribals in the state.

More than one lakh people participated in the ‘Dalita Girijana Atma Gourava Dandora’ public meeting, which is the first major show of strength by the Congress after A. Revanth Reddy took over as the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President.

Revanth Reddy along with other party leaders and a large number of party workers left for Indravelli in a procession from party headquarters Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad.

Before leaving for Indravelli, Revanth Reddy participated in a programme to mark the 79th anniversary of the ‘Quit India Movement’.

The Congress leader hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for following fascist policies at the Centre and in Telangana.

He said the hike in fuel prices by the Modi government has overburdened the common man.

The aspirations with which Telangana was formed had not been fulfilled due to the wrong policies of K. Chandrasekhar Rao, the Congress leader added.

Revanth Reddy said injustice was done to Dalits, tribals, backward classes, minorities and other weaker sections during the last seven years. He claimed that only the Congress can ensure justice to all sections of society.

A large number of people from various parts of Adilabad and other districts reached Indravelli. The meeting began at 2 p.m. and will continue till late evening.

Congress Legislature Party leader Bhatti Vikramarka, All India Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary Madhu Yashki Goud, former Deputy Chief Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha and other leaders attended the meeting organised on the occasion of World Tribal Day or International Day of the World’s Indigenous People.

The Congress also plans to organise similar meetings across all 17 parliamentary constituencies in the state.

The Congress has come under criticism from the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) for organising the meeting which reminded it that it was during Congress rule that scores of tribals were killed in police firing at Indravelli on April 20, 1981.

TRS leaders and some Adivasi groups have demanded that the Congress should first apologise to the tribals for the police firing.

Responding to the demands of the TRS, TPCC Vice-President Mallu Ravi said the Congress was ready to apologise for the incident from the dais of the public meeting.

The salaries and emoluments to these employees need at least Rs 2500 crore every month. This includes the pensions too. With limited revenues due to Covid situation, the state government is finding it difficult to make both the ends meet. The government is according top priority to payment of doles under schemes like Rythu Bandhu, Aasara, KCT Kits, Arogya Lakshmi, Rs 1 a kg rice, Shadi Mubarak, Kalyana Lakshmi and others. Due to this, the salaries are not being paid on time.

The Telangana government is adopting a totation scheme to pay the salaries. For instance, the salaries for the month of June were paid on July 2 for districts like Khammam and Kothagudem. Sources say that pensions in 20 districts were paid on August 7, while the payments of 13 districts are still pending. The salaries are still to be paid for Adilabad, Peddapalli, Jagityal, Sangareddy, Medak, Siddipet, Sircilla, Hanamkonda, Janagama, Khammam, Kothagudem, Nalgonda and Yadadri Bhuvanagiri.

Sources said that the salary bills are being cleared only after the finance department issues clearance. The Drawing and Disbursement Officials are given a token number after they submit the salary details. The details are then sent to the E-Kuber Portal of the Reserve Bank of India. Then the bills reach the chief secretary (finance). Only after he issues a clearance, the salaries are paid.

Telangana CM asks officials to protect state’s share in river waters

0

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Friday asked the officials to work with commitment to protect the state’s share in river waters.

At a high-level meeting with top officials, he asked officials to protect the interests of the Telangana farmers, and made it clear that there is no question of back tracking on the issue.

Hyderabad ahead of other cities in sewage treatment: KTR

0

Telangana Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K.T. Rama Rao said on Friday that Hyderabad is ahead of other major cities in India in sewage treatment.

Laying the foundation for construction of 17 Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) with 376.5 million litres per day (MLD) capacity at a cost of Rs 1,280 crore, he termed this an important milestone for Hyderabad in sewage treatment.

The STPs will enhance the total sewage treatment capacity of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) to 1148.5 MLD.

He said that currently 40 per cent of the sewage generated in Hyderabad is being treated, and this is the highest among eight major cities in the country.

KTR, as the minister is popularly known, said out of 1,950 MLD sewage being generated in the city, 772 MLD is being currently treated

With 17 new STPs being built in Kukatpally, Qutbullahpur and Serlingampally circles, 376.5 MLD more sewerage can be treated.

He said 14 more STPs will be built in the city, and thus, a total of 31 new STPs will be developed in a phased manner. KTR said this would be a key milestone in development of Hyderabad as a global city.

He pointed out that the seweage generated in the city is currently flowing into Musi river with gravity. If this sewerage is not treated, it will create public health problems, he warned.

The construction of STPs will help prevent sewage flowing into the lakes and tanks and as a result, the water bodies can be maintained well and beautification of their surroundings can be ensured.

KTR said the government was working to improve the city’s infrastructure in tune with its rapid expansion. Stating that every year lakhs of people migrated to the city, he said the government was taking steps to develop the infrastructure to meet their requirements.

He recalled that Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad (MCH) had an area of 160 square km but when surrounding municipalities were merged with it to create Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), the area expanded to 625 square km.

HMWSSB MD Dana Kishore said for the first time after 14 years, development of STPs is being taken up on a large scale. He said currently 772 MLD seweage is being treated to the extent of 94 per cent. With the construction of 31 new STPs, the sewerage treatment capacity will further go up.

KCR waives off crop loans of 6 lakh farmers at one go!

1

The crop loan waiver scheme was one of the main poll promises of TRS chief and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao during 2018 Assembly polls.

He promised to waive off crop loans up to Rs 1 lakh if TRS is voted to power again. TRS won 2018 Assembly polls but failed to waive off crop loans even after more than two-and-a-half years.

Last year, the government waived off loans up to Rs 25,000 in first phase.

In the second phase now, loans up to Rs 50,000 are being waived off.

The Telangana government today issued GO sanctioning Rs 2,006 crore to waive off crop loans of 6 lakh farmers who owe loans from Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000 each.

The amount will be credited in the bank accounts of farmers directly from August 16 to 31.

Even after, the government still have to waive off loans up to Rs 75,000 in the third phase and up to Rs 1 lakh in the last phase which may be done in the next two years till 2023 December Assembly polls.

Finance minister T Harish Rao today held meeting with bankers asking them not to adjust crop loan waiver amount for any other arrears of farmers after the government credits the amount in their bank accounts.

Huzurabad tension for ‘trouble shooter’

1

No leader appears to be more tensed in TRS than TRS senior leader and minister T Harish Rao over the outcome of upcoming Huzurabad by poll.

This is because TRS chief and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has entrusted the task of Huzurabad victory to only Harish Rao, who is known as ‘trouble shooter’ in TRS.

Since TRS is in trouble now due to Etela Rajender, Huzurabad task was given to trouble shooter Harish.

Harish’s situation too is not good these days. KCR entrusted Dubbak by poll task to Harish in November 2020. But Harish received a jolt from BJP which wrested seat from TRS in Harish’s own Undivided Medak district.

Harish realized that the situation is no better in Huzurabad as TRS lacks a strong candidate who can match a leader of stature of Rajender.

For this reason, Harish did not visit Huzurabad so far and has been operating from Siddipet.

Harish is holding meetings everyday in Siddipet and luring Etela’s supporters into TRS by making bumper offers.

Harish is preparing ground to completely isolate Etela from TRS leaders and cadre in Huzurabad before he steps in his constituency.

Harish supporters feel that KCR instead of handing over Huzurabad responsibility to his son KTR, he cleverly roped in Harish, to see that KTR’s image is not hit if TRS loses and Harish can be blamed for this.

KTR represents Siricilla constituency in Undivided Karimnagar district under which Huzurabad too falls. But he was not made in charge for Huzurabad.

Harish represents Siddipet in Undivided Medal district. He no way relates to Karimnagar district. But still he was made in charge.

Once a monarch, this leader now faces barbs from within

1

Once he was the monarch of all he surveyed. He was the unquestioned king of Khammam politics. But, today, he is beleaguered, ignored and even targeted by the enemies, not just from outside but even from within the party. Once most powerful leader in Khammam district is now finding himself unheard even by his own party bosses.

Tummala Nageswara Rao rode like a colossus in Khammam district from the 1980s, when he took on the mighty Jalagam family of the Congress. He became a minister in the TDP and was known for initiating several developmental activities in the district. He was known for his brusque style and unambiguous attitude. But, politics began changing soon after Telangana was born.

He was defeated in 2014 assembly elections and he then left the TDP to join KCR. He was made a minister, but KCR began promoting a younger leader in the district. He had again lost in the 2018 elections. After these elections, the party leadership has completely ignored him. The young leader, who became a minister, began targeting him . While the minister displayed open warmth, he encouraged his supporters to attack Tummala on social media.

A vexed Tummala tried to take the issue to the notice of the political higher-ups, but to no avail. The party leadership was in no mood to listen to his complaints. Left with no option, he had to lodge a complaint with the police in Khammam on the vilification campaign going on against him on social media. Ironically, all those attacking him are supporters of the minister, who outwardly displays a lot of deference towards Tummala. The once-powerful Tummala now finds himself helpless and ignored.

KTR’s offer: Employ more Telangana youth, get more govt incentives

0

Telangana industries minister K.T.Rama Rao today (Thursday) made an offer to industrialists who are already running industries in the state and those who want to set up new industries in Telangana in the coming days.

KTR said Telangana government will offer special incentives to those who employ more Telangana youth.

He said these special incentives will be directly linked to employment of local youth. The more the local youth recruited in jobs, the more the special incentives they will get from the government.

Rama Rao on Thursday held a review meeting on the development of industries and industrial parks in Telangana.

He said a large number of companies have come up in Telangana since the formation of Telangana State seven years ago in 2014 due to stable government, investor and industry-friendly policies of TRS government, better law and order situation and 24×7 uninterrupted power supply to all sectors, which was not the case in Undivided Andhra Pradesh.

KTR said the government will shift industries located inside Hyderabad to outside of Outer Ring Road (ORR) to control industrial pollution in the city.

Telangana’s Dalit Bandhu scheme begins from CM’s adopted village

1

The Telangana government on Thursday began implementation of its ambitious ‘Telangana Dalit Bandhu’ scheme with the release of Rs 7.60 crore to extend financial assistance to 76 Dalit families in Vasalamarri village of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district.

A day after Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao visited his adopted village and interacted with Dalit families, the government issued an order for implementation of the scheme.

The Government Order (GO) issued by the Scheduled Castes development department permitted Telangana Scheduled Castes Co-Operative Development Corporation (TSCCDC) to release Rs 7.60 crore to the district collector for implementation of the programme for the benefit of around 76 Dalit households in Vasalamarri gram panchayat of Alair Assembly constituency.

The chief minister during his visit to the village on Wednesday announced that 76 SC families in the village will be benefited under the scheme. He said Rs 10 lakh will be deposited in the bank account of each beneficiary family from Thursday. He said the beneficiaries would be free to spend the money the way they want but advised them to use it to create a source of revenue.

During the interaction, he asked the people what would they do with Rs 10 lakh. Some told the CM that they would set up a dairy farm, some would buy tractors and some would do business.

Though the State Cabinet last week decided to implement the scheme on a pilot basis in Huzurabad Assembly constituency from August 16, the programme has now been rolled out from Alair constituency.

KCR’s earlier move had come under criticism from opposition parties and non-governmental organizations as by-elections are likely to be held in Huzurabad soon.

The seat fell vacant last month with the resignation of former minister Eatala Rajender. He also quit Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Rajender’s resignation from the TRS and the Assembly came after he was dropped from the Cabinet by KCR following allegations of land encroachment.

The opposition parties had termed the scheme a political stunt. Forum for Good Governance, a non-governmental organization urged the Election Commission of India to stop implementation of Dalit Bandhu in Huzurabad saying it was clearly aimed to lure the voters. Some activists have also moved the high court challenging the implementation of the pilot project in Huzurabad.

The government said that Dalit Bandhu scheme is aimed at providing financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to each of the identified Dalit families and to promote entrepreneurship among them.

KCR said that with the financial assistance given under the scheme, the Dalit community should develop itself as a business community by selecting industries, employment, and business of their choice.

Under the first phase, 100 families from each of the 119 Assembly constituencies will be identified. The government has announced allocation of Rs 1,200 crore for the scheme.

The chief minister said his government was ready to spend even Rs 1 lakh crore for the scheme. He exuded confidence that the scheme will become a torch bearer for the Dalit community in the entire country.

What’s strategy behind KCR’s Dalit Bandhu launch in Vasalamarri before Huzurabad?

1

For the past one month, Telangana politics are revolving around Huzurabad Assembly by poll and Dalit Bandhu scheme.

TRS chief and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao wants to win this poll by defeating his friend-turned-foe at any cost.

For that reason, he devised Dalit Bandhu scheme and announced to launch it in Huzurabad on August 16 to transfer Rs 20 lakh cash to each of the 20,000 dalit families to woo 40,000 dalit voters who are a majority in constituency. He sanctioned Rs 2,000 crores for this scheme.

But KCR yesterday (Wednesday) launched Dalit Bandhu in his adopted village Vasalamarri all of a sudden without any prior intimation. He sanctioned Rs 7.60 crore to all 76 dalit families in village. Each dalit family will receive Rs 10 lakh each in their bank accounts today (Thursday).

Why KCR chose Vasalamarri instead of Huzurabad?

Political circles see a big strategy behind this.

The Election Commission has received several complaints against Dalit Bandhu being launched only in Huzurabad where bypoll is to be held soon.

KCR fears that EC may stop this scheme until by poll is over and to escape from EC’s action, KCR made it ongoing scheme by launching it in Vasalamarri.

Now, KCR can claim that Dalit Bandhu is not a new scheme but an ongoing scheme and implement the scheme in Huzurabad during bypoll and believes that EC can stop only new schemes and not ongoing schemes.

2200 candidates,, 22000 proposers in Huzurabad bypoll?

0

If sources are to be believed, as many as 2200 persons are likely to file their nominations for the Huzurabad bypoll. Sources say that several groups have decided to put up many candidates. This en masse filing of nominations is likely to force a paper ballot instead of an EVM ballot. Already associations belonging to Arya Vysyas, MPTCs, field assistants, weaver community, mid Maneru project oustees and private lecturers are planning to file nominations.

According to election commission rules, each candidate has to propose only one candidate. A person cannot propose two candidates. Every candidate needs 10 proposers, who should belong to the constituency where elections are held. At this rate, the 2200 candidates will have to find 22000 proposers. This means, out of the 2.26 lakh voters in Huzurabad, as many as 22000 would be proposers. This will create a unique situation in Huzurabad.

Sources say that if indeed 2200 candidates are in the fray, then the election commission may have to opt for ballot papers instead of an EVM. Surfeit of candidates with confusing election symbols might leave the voters, especially the rural illiterates completely confounded. There could be many invalid votes, election analysts fear. They feel that this kind of en masse nominations could pose many problems.

The Eatala Rajender camp feels that these mass nominations are a ploy of the ruling TRS to confuse the voters and divide anti-TRS votes. This might affect the ultimate outcome of the elections, the Eatala camp fears.

Telangana minister hails French Co’s decision to double investment

0

Telangana’s Minister for Industry, K.T. Rama Rao, said on Wednesday that French fruit beverages manufacturing company Georges Monin doubling its investment in the state will give a big fillip to the food processing industry.

The minister took to Twitter to welcome Monin’s decision to double investment in its upcoming manufacturing plant in Telangana to Rs 200 crore.

The company had earlier announced that despite the setbacks caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, it is doubling its investment for the plant, targeting completion by 2023.

“With the increased investment of 200 crore, India remains a top-priority market for Monin,” said Olivier Monin, chairman, Georges Monin.

Monin had signed an MoU with the government of Telangana in 2018, announcing an initial investment of Rs 100 crore to set up the manufacturing plant.

The French business has since opened its wholly-owned subsidiary in Hyderabad as Monin India Pvt Ltd and has acquired 40 acres of land for its manufacturing site.

It has also set up an in-house R&D centre in Hyderabad.

T’gana HC surprised over Rs 60 cr sanctioned to fight contempt cases

0

The Telangana High Court on Wednesday expressed surprise over the state government sanctioning Rs 60 crore to fight contempt of court cases pending against state bureaucrats including Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar.

Passing interim orders, a division bench comprising Chief Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Vijaysen Reddy directed the state government not to release the money.

The court was hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) by a lecturer against the government’s financial assistance to meet the legal expenses to fight contempt cases filed predominantly against Chief Commissioner of Land Administration (CCLA), a post held by Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar.

The court questioned how the government would spend the taxpayers’ money. It wanted to know what are the treasury norms and if they allow this financial assistance.

The High Court served notices to secretaries of finance and revenue departments, directors of treasury, CCLA and to Somesh Kumar in his personal capacity.

The court adjourned the hearing till October 27.

The chief secretary had on June 7 issued a Government Order (GO) sanctioning Rs 58,95,63,000 towards contempt cases pending in the High Court.

More than 250 contempt cases are reportedly pending against the bureaucrats.

The PIL has come up for hearing close on the heels of the High Court taking serious view of willful disobedience by bureaucrats. In some cases, court imposed fine on district collectors and sentenced few others to imprisonment.

No increase in Assembly seats in AP, TS till 2026: Centre

1

The Centre on Tuesday (today) made it clear in Parliament that there are no plans to increase Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana until 2026.

The AP Reorganisation Act, 2014 stipulates an increase in Assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh from present 175 to 225 and in Telangana from present 119 to 153.

Though AP was bifurcated more than seven years ago as per this Act in 2014, the increase in Assembly seats did not happen.

Both AP and Telangana governments have been repeatedly requesting the Centre to increase Assembly seats for the past seven years as per AP Reorganisation Act, 2014.

Congress Malkajgiri MP A Revanth Reddy raised this issue in Lok Sabha during the Question Hour today.

To this, the union minister of state for home Nityanand Rai replied, “As per Article 170(3)of the Constitution, the total number of seats in the Assembly of each State will be readjusted after the first Census 2026 is published after 2026.”

The Census 2021 was delayed across India due to Covid. The last Census 2011 was done in 2011. As per norms, Census has to be done every ten years across India and it was due in 2021.

The Centre stated that the delimitation of Assembly constituencies will be taken up across India including AP and TS based on new Census after 2026. This would mean that 2023 Assembly polls in Telangana and 2024 Assembly polls in Andhra Pradesh will be held for existing seats only.

The elections for increased seats might be possible only during 2029 Assembly polls.

How will posters of PV Sindhu, Meera Bai Chanu help BJP grow in Telangana?

1

What has BJP’s growth in Telangana got to do with Olympian medallists Meera Bai Chanu and PV Sindhu? Believe it or not, this was the topic of heated debate in the Telangana BJP core committee meeting on Saturday. Interestingly, BJP national organising secretary BL Santhosh himself broached this subject. He was in the city on Saturday and held a series of reviw meeting with the core committee members and the executive committees of various affiliated organisations.

During the meeting, he is said to have sprung a surprise by asking as to why were there no congratulatory banners hailing the Olympic achievements of PV Sindhu and weightlifter Meera bai Chanu. He said these were achievements of young Indians and asked the party leaders as to why they were not being celebrated. He said there should have been posters hailing their achievements, he reportedly told them.

He is said to have expressed his displeasure over the party leaders not utilising the services of those below 25 years of age.”Why are not involving them in the party work?” he reportedly asked. He said that these people are going to become crucial in the 2024 elections and added that efforts should be made to rope them in the party work. Special programmes should be organised to involve them, he said. He said that congratulatory posters to PV Sindhu and Meerabai Chanu would go a long way in bringing the youth closer to the BJP.

He is also said to have expressed unhappiness at the Mahila Morcha leaders doing nothing to condemn the rape and abuse of women. “one or two leaders going t the victim and consoling her is not enough. Why did you not take up state-wide protests? Why were not every woman leader involved in the protests?” he reportedly asked. He is said to have asked the BJP leaders to go to the rural areas and work among the people. “What is the use of staying in Hyderabad? The party has to grow in the rural areas,” he said.

KCR slams Centre for anti-Telangana stand on river water

1

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday slammed the Centre for its anti-Telangana stand on river waters.

Reacting for the first time to Jal Shakti Ministry’s gazette notification on river management boards, he said the Centre was adopting anti-Telangana stand.

The chief minister also hit out at Andhra Pradesh saying it was resorting to ‘Dadagiri’ and constructing unauthorised irrigation projects on Krishna River without valid permissions.

KCR, as Rao is popularly known, was addressing a public meeting at Haliya in Nagarjuna Sagar Assembly constituency.

He made it clear that Telangana will not give up its share of river waters. The state government is taking steps to ensure that farmers do not face any troubles due to lack of Krishna river waters in future.

This was his first reaction after Jal Shakti Ministry issued a gazette notification on July 15 bringing 107 irrigation projects on both Krishna and Godavari rivers under the jurisdiction of river management boards.

The gazette notification finalizing the jurisdiction of Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) and Godavari River Management Board (GRMB) will come into effect from October 14, 2021.

Following the Centre’s move, both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will have no powers on the major and medium irrigation projects in their respective states.

KCR said that the government would divert Godavari River waters from Palair to Pedda Devulapalli tank near Nagarjuna Sagar to meet the irrigation requirements of Nagarjuna Sagar ayacut, which is in the Krishna River basin.

The public meeting was organised to thank the people of Nagarjuna Sagar constituency for electing Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) candidate Nomula Bhagat in the recent by-election.

The TRS chief reiterated his commitment to complete all 15 lift irrigation schemes sanctioned for erstwhile Nalgonda district, within next year-and-half.

KCR announced Rs 150 crore for development of the Assembly constituency and also allocated Rs 15 crore each for development of Nandikonda and Haliya municipalities.

Stating that Haliya is lagging in development, he promises to ensure development of the town. He assured people that a degree college and a mini stadium will be built in the town.

KCR also announced several other measures for the development of the constituency.

He reiterated that ‘Dalit Bandhu’ scheme will be implemented at any cost. He said the government was ready to spend even Rs 1 lakh crore for the scheme, which will become a role model for development of the Scheduled Castes in the entire country.

Of the around 16 lakh to 17 lakh SC families in the state, around 12 lakh to 13 lakh families will get Rs 10 lakh each under ‘Dalit Bandhu’. He said steps were being taken to select 100 beneficiary SC families in each Assembly constituency.

Justice NV Ramana to AP, TS: Settle Krishna water row through mediation

1

Chief Justice of India Justice NV Ramana today (Monday) advised Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments to settle Krishna water row between them through mediation and not through legal process.

The petition filed by AP government urging Supreme Court to direct Telangana government to stop hydel power generation at Srisailam project came up for hearing in Supreme Court today.

Supreme Court chief justice NV Ramana observed that confrontation between Telugu States is unnecessary.

He advised both the states to see that water row between them does not become a big problem and try to resolve the issue through talks or mediation before the situation comes out of their hands. He said the involvement of third-party in this issue is undesirable.

Justice Ramana said he belonged to both Telugu States and had earlier argued water cases of Undivided Andhra Pradesh in courts.

Justice Ramana said he will not comment on the legal issues involved in the petition filed by AP government.

He said if both the Telugu States still want to resolve this issue through legal process, he will shift the case to another bench for hearing.

AP’s lawyer Dushyant Dave told court that he will seek the opinion of AP government on this issue since the case involves political significance.

Justice Ramana adjourned the case to Wednesday.

TS cabinet takes key decisions on crop loan waiver, EWS quota, Dalit Bandhu!

The Telangana state cabinet which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday night took several key decisions on various issues.

The cabinet decided to waive off crop loans up to Rs 50,000 of over 6 lakh farmers as part of second phase of implementation of Rs 1 lakh crop loan waiver scheme for over 30 lakh farmers. The amount will be released from August 16 to 31.

KCR promised to waive off crop loans up to Rs 1 lakh during 2018 Assembly polls but failed to do so far. Last year, he waived off crop loans up to Rs 25,000 in the first phase. This means, two more phases will be implemented in the next two years to waive off loans up to Rs 75,000 and Rs 1 lakh respectively till Assembly polls in December 2023.

The cabinet decided to implement Centre’s 10% EWS quota (economically weaker sections) in education and employment from this year. Also five-year relaxation in upper age limit will be given for EWS quota candidates in state government recrutiments.

The cabinet also decided to implement Dalit Bandhu scheme in Huzurabad constituency from August 16 on a pilot basis. An amount of Rs 10 lakh will be credited in the bank accounts of each Dalit family to take up self employment and achieve social and financial security.

KCR gives shock to ‘seniors’ by giving MLC to Kaushik Reddy!

0

TRS chief and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao proved yet again that he is unpredictable.

KCR on Sunday night took a sudden decision to nominate Padi Kaushik Reddy, a 36-year young leader, from Huzurabad Assemby constituency, as MLC under Governor’s quota.

KCR took this decision while the cabinet meeting was underway at Pragathi Bhavan on Sunday.

Ministers who were present in the cabinet meeting were reportedly shocked when KCR placed Kaushik’s nomination as MLC proposal for approval in the cabinet meeting.

This is because Kaushik Reddy joined TRS from Congress just ten days ago on July 21. No one thought that he will be elevated as MLC within ten days.

When host of senior TRS leaders like Kadiam Srihari, Madhusudhana Chary, Tummala Nageshwar Rao, Gutha Sukender Reddy, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy etc were lobbying hard for this MLC post for the past few months, KCR chose a very junior leader to them, Kaushik Reddy, who never won even MLA election so far.

Kaushik Reddy as Congress candidate lost to then TRS candidate Etela Rajender, in 2018 December Assembly polls.

Etela now quit TRS and joined BJP forcing bypoll in Huzurabad soon.

When Kaushik Reddy joined TRS, it was expected that he will contest against Etela from TRS. But now that he was made MLC, it became clear that Kaushik will not get TRS ticket.

Speculations are rife that KCR is looking at a BC or Dalit leader to be fielded against Etela and not a Reddy candidate.

However, KCR’s decision to nominate Kaushik Reddy as MLC came as a big shock to seniors in TRS.
