Dil Raju left in a Tricky Situation

0

Top producer Dil Raju is the leading distributor of Telugu states. He has a great hold in the distribution sector which also brought him enough headaches. For the upcoming Sankranthi, Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya, Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy and Vijay’s Varisu are in the race. Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy will remain as the first priority for the Telugu audience. Dil Raju is producing Vijay’s Vaarasudu that is directed by Vamshi Paidipally. He is keen to lock more number of theatres for the film. But the exhibitors in the B and C centres are not ready to screen the film as there are Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna’s films lined up during the season.

Dil Raju can dominate the market in Nizam but it will sure turn a threat for the top distributor and producer. Dil Raju who worked with all the top actors of Telugu cinema has plans to produce films with Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna soon. If he blocks more screens for Vaarasudu and ignores the Telugu stars, his image would get damaged before the veteran actors and there would be slim changes of Dil Raju producing films with them for sure. At the same time, he cannot ignore Varisu in Telugu states. Dil Raju is left in a tough situation and he has to be smart at this time. He is quoting record prices for the theatrical rights of Vaarasudu but the distributors are not in a mood to pay huge prices. Mythri Movie Makers is producing Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy. Both these films will be released on their own. For now, Dil Raju is left in a tricky situation.

Varisu / Vaarasudu Overseas Rights goes for a record price

Varisu / Varasudu Overseas Rights have been sold for an All-Time Record price for a Kollywood film. The film has been sold for 38 cr (4.6 Million USD) in the Overseas region which is the highest ever beating Darbar (35 Cr). It needs to collect at least 10 Million gross in the Overseas markets to achieve breakeven for the buyer. Films like 2.0, and PS-1 are own release by the producers.

Tamil market Overseas is not just limited to US/AUS/UK/Gulf like Telugu films as they have a wider population in Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, France/Europe, etc.

Vijay’s previous films like Mersal, and Bigil have collected more than 10 Million gross in the Overseas markets. So the recovery isn’t difficult with positive word of mouth for the film.

Tollywood producers burning pockets for Tamil Actors

1

After the coronavirus pandemic, there is a huge vacuum in several film industries. Several Tamil actors have been looking towards Telugu films and filmmakers. Our over-enthusiastic producers have paid whopping amounts as advances and locked Tamil stars. Actors like Vijay, Dhanush, Sivakarthikeyan and others signed straight Telugu films. The filmmakers estimated high profits considering their Tamil markets. But as the stars collaborated with Telugu directors, the businesses are not so great for these films. The asking price for the theatrical rights is quite lesser than their regular market and quotes.

This turned out to be a shock for the filmmakers who are making films with Tamil stars. Their Telugu theatrical market completely depends on the buzz and the trailer. For now, there is no clarity about the exact pre-release business. Vijay has charged Rs 110 crores for Vaarasudu and the film should end up as a super hit to end up as a safe project. Mythri Movie Makers also paid a huge advance for Vijay and Atlee is on board to direct the film. Dhanush is charging Rs 25 crores per film. His recent films did not do well and he managed to release too many films this year. Sir is gearing up for the December release. Sivakarthikeyan’s Prince is struggling for buzz even after the actor scored a series of super hits. For now, Tollywood producers are burning their pockets by signing films with Tamil stars.

Major reshuffle in Sankranthi 2023 Releases

Sankranthi is one of the best seasons for Telugu cinema. Like every year, several biggies have locked their release dates during the holiday season. Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya, Prabhas’ Adipurush and Vijay’s Vaarasudu have announced their release dates during Sankranthi 2023. Now, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s film directed by Gopichand Malineni is all set to join the race. Mythri Movie Makers which is producing Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya is also bankrolling Balakrishna’s film. The makers are trying hard to avoid the clash.

Balakrishna’s film was initially planned for December release but the delay in the work delayed the project. There are also speculations that Chiranjeevi’s film may not make it for the release during Sankranthi because of the extensive post-production work. If this is true, all hurdles will be cleared for Balakrishna’s film. Akhil Akkineni’s Agent is in the last leg of the shoot and the makers are in plans to announce the release date during Sankranthi. If any of the biggies misses the date, Agent will get a comfortable release during the holiday season.

The VFX team of Adipurush is re-working on the graphics after the response for the teaser was mixed. There are talks that the film’s release may be pushed to summer if Prabhas and his team will not be convinced with the final product. Vijay’s Vaarasudu will hit the screens during Sankranthi at any cost. There would be a major reshuffle among the Sankranthi 2023 releases. A clarity on the new list of releases is expected by November.

1

Vaarasudu is being made on a budget close to Rs 160 crores and the Tamil theatrical rights would be sold for record prices. Dil Raju is the producer and Thaman scores the music and background score. Thaman’s USA Tour worrying Tollywood

0

Thaman is the busiest music composer of Telugu cinema and he has a heap of films lined up. He is currently working for Megastar’s Chiranjeevi’s God Father and the film releases on October 5th. The final re-recording work is happening for now. Thaman has a long USA Music tour and this is worrying his filmmakers. He will be in USA for close to three weeks for the Musical Concert which was planned much in advance. Balakrishna and Gopichand Malineni’s film is nearing completion and Thaman has to complete the background score. He also has to work on Vijay’s Varasudu and Ram Charan’s film with Shankar.

Thaman is also on board for Mahesh Babu’s film directed by Trivikram. Thaman will be working from USA but he will not be able to contribute completely because of his musical concerts. His filmmakers are worried that there would be a delay in Thaman’s work as he has signed too many problems. There is a complaint in the recent times that Thaman could not deliver his best for the background score of the recent biggies. Hope he would manage his commitments and the music tour in USA.

Dil Raju bends to the pressure of Tollywood Producers

0

Tollywood producers decided to head for a strike and all the film shoots are kept on hold. Dil Raju who is a key player and active member of the Guild continued the shoot of his Telugu and Tamil bilingual Vaarasudu. Dil Raju was trolled badly and he was targeted. Some of the Tollywood producers even questioned him directly and Dil Raju decided to put the shoot of Vaarasudu on hold. Dil Raju himself today revealed that the shoots of all the films came to a halt now.

There is also a discussion that the ongoing schedule of Vaarasudu in Vizag is completed and the next schedule is shifted to Chennai. Some of the pending episodes and interior episodes will be shot in Chennai. Tollywood producers have been meeting on a regular basis to discuss about the possible solutions for the issues and challenges faced by the producers. There is no clarity about when would the shoots resume and when would the strike end.

Tollywood producers furious on Dil Raju

Top producer Dil Raju took the initiative and suggested a strike for other producers to get things to control. He is the face of the Active Producers Guild of Tollywood and a series of meetings are planned this week to discuss about the hurdles the producers are facing. Leaving everyone in shock and surprise, the shoot of Dil Raju’s Vaarasudu featuring Vijay happened in Vizag as per the plan. Dil Raju came up with a silly explanation that Vaarasudu is a Tamil film and it is not a Telugu film.

Tollywood top producers are now furious on Dil Raju about his acts, statements and the work he has been doing. Dil Raju delivered fake promises recently. He said that he did not hike the ticket prices for Naga Chaitanya’s Thank You but the tickets were sold for high prices. Dil Raju is trolled on social media and the Tollywood media houses attacked him for his acts. Another active member of the Guild, S Naga Vamsi continued the shoot of Dhanush’s Sir and the shoot is happening in Ramoji Film City. Though the producers are tight-lipped, everyone is furious on Dil Raju and Naga Vamsi.

As discussed earlier, the Tollywood producers have to stand united to cross all the barriers and resolve all the issues. Else, the issues will never get resolved.
