Uppena is off to a sensational start at the Tollywood box-office. This small film emerged as the biggest opener in Telugu cinema among the films of debutants and young actors. Netflix acquired the digital streaming rights of the film for a record price and the makers inked a deal about the date well in advance. The agreement says that the film can be streamed on Netflix only after 60 days of its theatrical release date.

Uppena will now stream on Netflix from April 11th as per the update. Uppena is directed by a debutant Buchi Babu and Vaisshnav Tej, Krithi Shetty are the lead actors. Mythri Movie Makers produced Uppena which is racing towards a blockbuster.

Sai Dharam Tej’s brother Vaishnav Tej is making his debut as a lead actor with Uppena. The film is slated for release soon and the film is carrying decent expectations. Even before the release of his first film, Vaishnav Tej completed the shoot of his second movie which is directed by Krish. Both the directors who handled Vaishnav Tej had a positive opinion on this youngster and he has done a decent job in all the aspects.

As per the latest update, Vaishnav Tej is in talks with two young directors for his upcoming movies which will be finalized in November. Megastar Chiranjeevi will listen to these scripts and he would take the final call after which Vaishnav Tej will proceed. Two top production houses will bankroll these projects. Vaishnav Tej is already in demand even before his debut film Uppena released. Uppena is directed by Buchi Babu and is produced by Mythri Movie Makers. The film may have a theatrical release next year.

Top production house Mythri Movie Makers are on cloud nine after the super success of Rangasthalam. Soon things changed and a series of debacles left them in shock. Sukumar’s protege Buchi Babu impressed them with a script through which Sai Dharam Tej’s brother Vaishnnav Tej is being introduced. This rustic love story is titled Uppena and is inching completion.

Though the film was planned on a small budget, the project was out of their control now. The makers already spent Rs 20 crores on the film and 30 days of the film’s shoot is still left. The makers are now worried about the crept budget. Uppena shoot will be wrapped up by the end of this year and it should get a solo release date to rake decent revenues.

The buyers of Mythri too suffered huge losses with their recent movies and they would not be ready to pay huge amounts for Uppena. Hence, the makers will have to take a huge risk before release for this rustic village-based drama. The film is set in the backdrop of Kakinada and Vaishnnav Tej plays the role of a fisherman in this film.
