Where will Vasantha Krishna Prasad go now?

0

Mylavaram MLA from NTR district, Vasantha Venkata Krishna Prasad, is now stripped off his constituency incharge post. He is one of the sitting MLAs to be dropped by the ruling YSR Congress for the coming 2024 general elections to the State Assembly.

Party president and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is understood to have selected ZPTC member Swarnala Tirupathi Rao as the constituency incharge. He is likely to be the candidate for the coming general election. Tirupathi Rao comes from the Yadava community and has a good name in the constituency.

With Tirupathi Rao’s selection as the constituency incharge, Vasantha Krishna Prasad is now jobless. He expected this situation a couple of days ago and spoke at the public meeting, leaving his future to the destiny. He said that the YSR Congress leaders were running from pillar to post to get the bills cleared by the government. Even the contractors were making a beeline at the Secretariat, he said.

The first time MLA, Krishna Prasad, is likely to go to the opposition TDP. He had given enough indications in the past referring to Amaravati as capital. He said that not developing Amaravati as the capital is unfortunate and he is for Amaravati as capital.

He made this statement two years ago when he was well with the ruling party. His statement shocked the ruling party leaders, including the chief minister. However, he did not withdraw his comments and said that he stands for Amaravati. Even his father and former minister Vasantha Nageswara Rao had extended support to the Amaravati farmers.

Perhaps his support to Amaravati is one of the reasons for the party chief to remove him from the constituency incharge post and also drop him from contesting the next election. He is said to be in touch with the TDP leaders, who are offering him the party ticket in the neighbouring Guntur district.

In fact, Krishna Prasad was offered the TDP ticket before the 2019 general elections in Guntur district. However, he wanted to come back to Mylavaram and contest. The YSR Congress had given him the opportunity to contest and win the election.

Vasatha warns Minister Jogi, claims Jagan’s support

0

Mylavaram MLA from the ruling party in the NTR district, Vasantha Venkata Krishna Prasad, said that he would not tolerate Minister Jogi Ramesh interfering in his constituency affairs. Krishna Prasad, who met party chief and chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday, told media persons that the chief minister had given him assurance on taming the Minister.

The MLA said that the minister was poking his nose into his constituency affairs and promoting groupism in the party. “He is representing Pedana constituency. I am representing Mylavaram. Why should he come and finger the local issues,” Krishna Prasad asked.

He said that he had explained in detail every issue to the chief minister, who promised him to solve the issues. He also said that the chief minister had promised a long career for him in the party and asked him to do his part of the work in the constituency.

The MLA said that he had worked with three ministers in the constituency in the past and there were no issues for him. However, after Jogi Ramesh became the minister, the party was divided into groups in the constituency, he alleged.

He also cited that the party’s defeat in the Kondapalli Municipality was due to the squabbles created by the minister for his upmanship. He felt that the minister should limit his politics to his native constituency rather than disturbing the party in other constituencies.

The MLA said that he would soon resume the door-to-door campaign in the constituency as the chief minister had promised his full support. “I am in touch with the people and the cadre as well. I will start visiting the people shortly,” the MLA said.

Will Devineni Uma’s arrest hit Vasantha Krishna Prasad’s popularity?

1

While it was long expected that Devineni Umamaheshwara Rao would be the next TDP leader to be arrested after Kollu Ravindra and Dhulipalla Narendra, it appears his arrest is fast proving counter-productive for the YSRCP. There is a groundswell of sympathy for Devineni as he was booked for murder while he was sitting in his car.

Devineni Uma was arrested on charges of attempt to murder after a case was booked against him in G Konduru police station. But as the news spread of his arrest, sympathy for him is reportedly growing in Mylavaram assembly constituency. His political rival and YSRCP MLA Vasantha Krishnaprasad is now in fix. In fact, Vasantha Krishna Prasad had said a year ago that he would put Devineni Uma behind the bars. These words are now coming back to haunt him.

Vasantha Krishna Prasad is now being blamed for the arrest. Interestingly, both Devineni and Vasantha hail from the same social community and there a lot of sympathy for Devineni in general and in the community in particular. Anger is also said to be building against Vasantha Krishna Prasad as he is staying away from the constituency unlike Devineni Uma, who was always accessible. He has not taken up developmental works as planned, according to the locals. Due to this, there is already resentment against Vasantha Krishna Prasad. He reportedly stays away from the assembly constituency and this too has contributed to his unpopularity..

Vasantha comes from the illustrious political family of Vasantha Nageswara Rao., who was the home minister during the TDP rule and represented Nandigama several times. His son Krishna Prasad had joined the YSRCP and has won from Mylavaram defeating Devineni Uma. Devineni too is from a well-known family. His elder brother Ramana was a minister He had passed away in a train accident.
