The Income Tax officials conducted raids on the offices and premises of Mythri Movie Makers, the most happening production house of Telugu cinema. The officials visited their offices and properties in Hyderabad yesterday morning and the raids continued till night. The officials are verifying the TDS and GST records of their employees and for the workers who worked for their recent films. The officials received a tip that the records are not well maintained after which the raids are conducted. Naveen Yerneni and Ravi Shankar Y, the producers of Mythri are unavailable to comment.
They are busy with the post-production works of Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya and Balakrishna’s Veera Simha Reddy that are releasing during Sankranthi. Balakrishna is currently dubbing for the film while Chiranjeevi is shooting for a song in Europe. Mythri is in plans to release both these films on their own. Sankranthi Releases: Issue reaches Film Chamber again
Megastar Chiranjeevi and Nandamuri Balakrishna are testing their luck with Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy during Sankranthi 2023 season. Vijay’s Vaarasudu is also releasing during the season and the film is getting record number of screens beyond the potential of Vijay. This is because of Dil Raju who is producing the film. He has a strong hold in the distribution circles of Nizam and Vizag. A record number of screens are blocked for the film and the exhibitors urged the Film Chamber to intervene and resolve the issue. The exhibitors from Vizag region requested to allocate the theatres for straight Telugu movies.
The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce may call up for an immediate meeting soon to discuss about this issue once again. With several exhibitors raising their voice against the dubbed films, the issue reached Film Chamber again. Sankranthi 2023: Five films in Race
Sankranthi 2023 too is expected to be big like every year. Two veteran Tollywood actors Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna are all set to test their luck during the season with their respective films Waltair Veerayya and Veera Simha Reddy. Vijay’s Vaarasudu is backed by top producer Dil Raju and the film too will get a good release. But before the potential of Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna, Vijay is not a big star. Everyone predicted a triangular fight between the films and all these films will have to share the screens during the holiday season.
Popular US distributor Radhakrishna Entertainments acquired the Telugu theatrical rights of Ajith’s film Thunivu and the film too will release across the Telugu states. Though the film will not get enough number of screens, Thunivu has to share some of the screens. UV Creations is backing a small film Kalyanam Kamaneeyam and Santosh Shoban played the lead role. The film directed by debutant Anil too is releasing during the Sankranthi season. UV Creations holds a good number of screens in AP and the film too will have to share the screens along with other Sankranthi releases. A more clarity on the exact release dates is expected in a week.
Rs 250 Cr bet on Sankranthi Releases

Though the exact financials are yet to be revealed, Sankranthi season will have a bet of Rs 250 crores in total. Vijay’s Varisu is the other release and the film caught attention as it is produced by Dil Raju. Though Vijay’s Telugu theatrical market is capped at less than Rs 15 crores, Dil Raju has been quoting high prices for Varisu. The theatrical rights of Waltair Veerayya and Veerasimha Reddy are more than Rs 200 crores including all the territories.
As both these films are mass entertainers, the distributors and exhibitors would bet big on both these projects. The word of mouth will be crucial for these films. Vijay’s Varisu will take off to a great start in Tamil and the performance in Telugu depends on the result of the straight Telugu films. Varisu is a family entertainer and is the next film of Vamshi Paidipally after Maharshi and would take the advantage of the family crowds. The total bet on the Sankranthi 2023 releases would touch Rs 250 crores in total.

Sankranthi Releases: Over budget for all three Films
Three films Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya, Balakrishna’s Veerasimha Reddy and Vijay’s Varisu are releasing during the Sankranthi holiday season. All the three films are in the final stages of shoot with one month left for release. Vijay who allocates 80 days (maximum) per film has shot for more than 120 days. The patchwork of Varisu is still pending and it is expected to complete before December 10th. Vamshi Paidipally who is known to shoot his films lavishly went overboard when it comes to the final budget. There was a 20 percent increase in the planned budget of Varisu.
Veerasimha Reddy is sure a nightmare for the production house Mythri Movie Makers. Balakrishna who is quite disciplined on the sets has shot for over 140 days for this actioner. Chiranjeevi’s Waltair Veerayya too is not completed on the planned budget. The working days crossed 150 and the songs are currently shot in Greece. The budgets of all the three Sankranthi releases went over board. The non-theatrical deals fetched good amounts for all the three films. The theatrical deals (Telugu) for all the Sankranthi releases will be finalized very soon. The release dates of Waltair Veerayya, Veerasimha Reddy and Varisu will be announced soon.
