One by one, Brahmin bigwigs turning against Jagan

1

Prior to the 2019 election, many Brahmin bigwigs and officers totally favoured Jaganmohan Reddy. A variety of reasons played their part behind their decisions. Jagan’s Bihar election consultant Prashant Kishor was one reason for unifying these leaders to support YCP strongly. Prashant is himself a Brahmin and he engaged services of many Brahmin media persons during election campaign who effectively took forward the strategies for bringing victory. Now the scenario is changing fast. Retired IAS officer IYR Krishna Rao has already raised his voice over lack of adequate budget for the Brahmin Welfare Corporation.

Now, Sakshi Media Editorial Director K Ramachandra Murthy has distanced himself from the group. Internal group rivalry and increased interference of YCP leaders are cited as immediate reasons. Murthy joined Sakshi in 2014 after the defeat of Jaganmohan Reddy who at that time wanted a known professional to project Sakshi image. YCP leaders had tried to get Murthy removed by levelling allegations of his closeness with Chandrababu Naidu but that didn’t happen then. Now, the YCP came to power and Jagan’s game plan has changed.

Chaos at Grama Volunteers’ interviews

0

Engineering, degree, inter and 10th class qualified candidates have also applied for Grama Volunteer tests in Andhra. There is so much demand for a post that gets Rs. 5,000 per month in village and ward levels. The demand is because of so much influence that this post will bring. Whatever, these appointments and their tests have become a matter of laughing matter everywhere. Even the officials conducting interviews are confused about their real role in deciding the successful candidates.

Like never before, the so-called government posts of Grama Volunteers are going to be selected based only interviews. The officials on interview board will award marks and send the lists of candidates along with marks to the higher authorities. The final list of selected candidates will be decided at a higher level.

The marks secured by a candidate in his qualifying examination will not be the criterion for selection. There is no guarantee whether the interviewing officials’ marks will be really considered to select the candidates. There is a lot of suspicions even among applicants that all these interviews are simply a farce as the local MLAs and ruling party leaders have already their own candidates for Grama Volunteers. This is why many applicants have stopped attending interviews as well. Officials are also saying there is no legality or sanctity for these jobs being given only based on interviews.

Jagan clueless on countering Opposition attack?

0

The YCP has got 151 MLAs who go on attacking the TDP on corruption issues. But this is not having the desired effect. In the last 46 days of his rule, CM Jaganmohan Reddy could not come out with strong proofs in either Polavaram or Amaravati works. Against this backdrop, the YCP criticism is losing credibility among the public. At the same time, there is increased attention to the attacks mounted by TDP which has only 23 MLAs. Opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu stepped his attacks against Jagan both within and outside the Assembly.

Taken by surprise, Jagan has begun asking his party MLAs and Ministers to brainstorm on the points so as to corner the Opposition effectively. To his utter dissatisfaction, many Ministers have not even attended a special meeting held by Jagan to discuss the issue of attacking the TDP.

An angry CM has asked for details of Ministers and MLAs not actively taking part in the Assembly discussions. Being the party boss and CM, Jagan would have taken prior measures to activate his party machinery and MLAs in all burning issues. The one mistake Jagan has made was his assurance to employees and party leaders that there would be no Naidu-like harassment in the name of too many video conferences and round-the-clock monitoring. As there is a continuous attack by the 24X7 working Naidu on different issues, the CM is now shaking up his team to become active and gear up for Opposition attack.

YCP caste bias against BC DSPs

0

The Jaganmohan Reddy government has transferred nearly 16 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) to prime locations. This has given rise to lot of disappointment and discontent internally in the police department. Nearly 17 DSPs belonging to the backward classes are kept in Vacancy Reserve by YCP for the last seven weeks. This punishment was given to them along with 12 Kamma DSPs for their alleged favouritism to the then ruling TDP.

Now the so-called pro-TDP BC DSPs are arguing why they are not being given at least unimportant postings called loop-line jobs in the department. Political harassment and caste bias are usual but that is confined to a few days. Like never before, the Jagan Reddy government is taking political revenge against the police officers on the pretext of their past record.
The BC DSPs are raising the point that YCP’s main target is Kamma officers who are facing it but this shock treatment is given to the BC officers as well. I has never happened before in any other state that DSP level officers are humiliated for long. This has raised frustration in them. Moreover, these officers are being used for duty in bandobust and security to VIPs during assembly sessions and other major events. If this is the situation in the police department, one can think about the level of bias and partiality in other departments. Ruling party leaders are forcing their local politics on all matters of administration.

BJP a blessing for YCP and TRS in Telugu states

0

The Bharatiya Janata Party’s serious efforts to gain strength in Telugu States is not yielding great results. The party national leadership thinks their party has got sympathisers’ base but the ground level situation looks very different. BJP’s membership drive has not got expected response. It is clear that regional and caste vote bank politics are dominating the two states. TRS is playing to the regionalism sentiment while YCP is getting huge support from weaker sections especially Christian voters cutting across caste, creed and community.

Being a national level party in power at the Centre, BJP may look attractive for different communities but eventually they may not like to be reduced to second-rung leadership roles. There is a thinking that BJP would be a good platform to bring down KCR. However, not many leaders are showing interest to join that party. Revanth Reddy is one such leader who is taking BJP lightly. Analysts say that BJP is failing to raise hopes among anti-KCR communities and leaders from other parties. Also, the BJP is becoming a big hurdle for Congress to pick up its strength and oppose TRS.

In Andhra too, BJP is not able to create a mass appeal. TDP founder NTR raised consciousness of Telugu pride and crushed the national party like Congress. In the eyes of Andhra voters, BJP is also just like another national party. Communities like Brahmins, Vysyas and Kshatriyas are sympathisers of BJP but their numbers are not enough. Its magic is not working 100 per cent among other communities. BJP’s increased aspirations for AP are only proving to be a blessing for YCP.

YCP MLAs mock at Naidu’s foreign tour spendings

0

Heated discussions took place on the issue of huge spendings made on the foreign tours made by Chandrababu Naidu during his tenure as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. A YCP member raised the issue to which Minister Gowtham Reddy informed the House that Rs. 39 cr were spent on Naidu’s foreign tours. Then the YCP MLAs began making mocking statements and asked whether that had helped the state in any manner.

At one point of time, Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy commented that CMs from no other state in the country had made such huge spendings like Naidu on their foreign tours. The Minister made interesting comments that though no such tours were taken up by CMs of Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Maharashtra, the IT industry has developed by leaps and bounds there. Whereas, there is no such result in Andhra.

The TDP MLAs said that the YCP made it a single point programme to blame Naidu on everything. Oppostion leader Chandrababu himself took objection to the ruling party leaders saying that nearly 5 lakh jobs were created in IT and other sectors because of companies that came on account of his foreign tours. Naidu asked the YCP government to specify what it is going to do for job creation rather than blindly attacking the TDP for everything.

Vijayasai unlimited sarcasm targetting Amaravati

0

YCP MP Vijayasai Reddy has become famous by his sarcastic tweets against TDP, Chandrababu Naidu and Lokesh. Now, his wit and sarcasm has extended to even the noble task of building Amaravati Capital City. Vijayasai has indicated that Rs. 500 Cr allocated for Amaravati would be more than enough. He made fun of Chandrababu’s objection to such meagre allocation. Naidu has earlier jokingly asked whether an small portion of gigantic capital city works could be completed with such small allocation.

By itself, Rs. 500 Cr budget for Amaravati is nothing but trivialising and insulting the aspirations of Andhra people for having their own Capital City with a better future like Hyderabad, Bangalore, etc. Over Rs. 35,000 Cr worth works were taking place in Amaravati towards the end of TDP rule. But now just Rs. 500 Cr is allocated and this would not be enough to clear outstanding amounts in respect of even one tower there.

Amaravati is visualised as future global city with well laid plans for multi-storeyed complexes, townships, roads, greenery, etc. The YCP government may not have Capital as its priority but it should have at least realised the need for meeting basic requirements of Amaravati works. Analysts say that Jagan’s anti-Amaravati stance will only boomerang on him. He cannot go on reversing that Chandrabau Naidu has built. Totally neglecting Amaravati is not as easy as demolishing Praja Vedika and leaving it there as a symbol of satisfied ego and pleased arrogance.

YCP leaders injure 5 TDP activists over ditch

Five Telugu Desam Party activists were injured in an attack made by YCP leaders at Tubadu village in Guntur district. The attack was made when TDP activists objected to the digging of a ditch in front of their house. The YCP leaders tried to go ahead with digging, saying that it is their government now and the TDP members can complain anywhere they like. They tried to defend their action saying it is for planting saplings there. But TDP activist Vasimalla Ankamma and his family members drove away the YCP leaders.

Immediately after sometime, YCP leader Neelambaram along with other leaders arrived on the scene with axes and iron bars and attacked the rivals. The injured TDP activists were taken to Chilakaluripeta. Two of them were shifted to the Government General Hospital in Guntur as their condition was serious.

Ever since the victory of YCP, tensions are rising in villages and towns as the ruling party groups are openly attacking the opposition party families. TDP has been repeatedly saying that even CM Jaganmohan Reddy is not condemning these attacks. Nearly, 5 TDP workers have already lost their lives in YCP attacks. TDP leaders have even complained to DGP Gowtham Sawang to take action against the ruling party leaders involved in the attacks.

Will YCP regime demolish ‘Anna Canteens’ too?

0

After the demolition of Praja Vedika, there are growing concerns among poor people that Anna Canteens will also be brought down sooner or later. Anna Canteens buildings also came up in unauthorised places in towns and cities. In Vijayawada, they came upon canal bunds. These canteens are serving food and tiffins thrice a day at just Rs 5 per plate. For labourers and workers, they became very useful to save their hard-earned money.

There are doubts that the YCP government is hell-bent on demolishing buildings illegally constructed by the previous Chandrababu Naidu government. The poor beneficiaries of Anna Canteens are now demanding their continuation. Seeing the popularity, the YCP leaders are also talking very less about the canteens. They can’t outright dismiss the Canteens as useless just like in case of Amaravati capital city. They can’t also remove TDP colour and apply YCP colours to the Canteens as this would send the wrong signal. In some places, they are giving white paint to Anna Canteens.

TDP left AP in Rs 3.62 lakh crore debt, says Finance Minister

1

As expected, the YCP government released its first White Paper on Andhra’s dismal financial position today. Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy said that the previous government’s irresponsible spendings had left the already suffering state in huge debts of Rs 3.62 lakh crore. He accused the TDP government of showing negative results in all the important sectors. The Chandrababu government had also given wrong figures with regard to agricultural growth, industrial development, etc.

Buggana set the tone for the YCP’s continuing blame game against the TDP a day ahead of the budget session. He made it clear once again that the Capital City construction is not their immediate priority when compared to the crucial sectors like welfare, education, health, etc. Buggana ridiculed the previous government’s claims saying that there’s nothing except two buildings and three roads in Amaravati area. He said this despite criticism that YCP is humiliating farmers who gave away their long-held family property for Capital City.

Budget session to see YCP-TDP stormy scenes

The ruling YCP is determined to mostly attack the TDP in the 14-day budget session which will begin tomorrow. YCP leaders have planned to release and discuss ‘White Papers’ on the previous government’s failures. All eyes are on Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy who is going to release a White Paper on the bad financial conditions of Andhra. Obviously, Buggana will be mostly attacking the previous Chandrababu regime and blaming it for all the ills of the present situation.

Foreseeing the government’s strategies, the TDP has also decided to release its own ‘White Papers’ to blame and make the YCP accountable for the problems being faced by the people. TDP boss Chandrababu Naidu did not attend the Business Advisory Committee meeting of Assembly. In his place, Deputy Floor Leader K Atchanna naidu took part.

The ruling party leaders are indeed under a lot of stress because of the exorbitantly huge commitments their party has made to people in the name of Navaratnalu. Thousands and thousands of crores are required to meet and fulfill these promises. Over Rs. 2 lakh debt burden is staring in the face of the state. Finance Minister is going to criticise TDP on this count. On its part, TDP is preparing to expose the lack of planning and determination on the part of YCP to fulfill its election promises.

Vijayasai re-appointed AP Special Representative

0

The AP government issued orders once again appointing MP Vijayasai Reddy as its Special Representative in Delhi. This time, it specified that no salary or other benefits would be given. So, it would not come under the category of Office of Profit. Previously, Vijayasai faced the threat of disqualification as he was given Cabinet status along with Special Representative. Being a Rajya Sabha MP, he cannot hold dual Offices of Profit.

At that time, the TDP leaders thought of complaining to the Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu. Now, the YCP government found another route to continue Vijayasai in the dual posts with some technical changes. It has also come out with an ordinance.

Grama Volunteers no different from Janmabhoomi Committees?

0

The Jaganmohan Reddy government received huge response to its notification to fill up Grama Volunteers. These are not regular permanent appointments but are made on outsourcing basis. Critics are objecting to their proposed recruitment through interviews conducted by officials at district level. They argue that this would not be a transparent way of appointments.

The government is appointing 10 to 20 Volunteers in each village. They are going to play a key role in passing on welfare benefits. If they are political appointees, these Volunteers are sure to show favoritism and create conflicts in rural areas. Then there would be no difference between Grama Volunteers and Janmabhoomi Committees which were allegedly responsible for bad name to the previous Chandrababu Naidu government.

Even before the recruitment process begins, many doubts and concerns are being expressed over Volunteers posts. Some are suggesting merit-based appointments through examination.

TDP and YCP complain to DGP against each other

0

The opposition Telugu Desam Party leaders went in a delegation and complained to DGP Gautham Sawang on the alleged atrocities committed by the ruling YCP. They told the DGP that till now, nearly six TDP leaders were murdered while another 80 physical attacks were reported. At 54 places, the ruling party leaders reportedly attacked and damaged the property of TDP leaders.

The TDP delegation included former home minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa, S. Chandramohan Reddy and others. In a parallel complaint, YCP MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy along with party leaders also met the DGP at the police headquarters near Tadepalli.

The YCP MLA complained to DGP that lots of social media posts were being made by the TDP leaders targetting the regime of CM Jaganmohan Reddy. TDP boss Chandrababu Naidu is not taking any steps to prevent their sympathisers from making these unparliamentary posts. Alla demanded that the police take stringent action against those responsible for posting objectionable comments and pictures in social media.

Jagan rule marked by attacks, atrocities, demolitions: TDP

0

The opposition Telugu Desam Party is stepping up its attack on the ruling YCP much earlier than expected. Originally, they planned to wait for six months and then criticise. But in the face of non-stop targetting by YCP in various aspects, the TDP has begun implementing a policy of ‘offence is best form of defence’. TDP says that Jagan’s rule so far has stood for attacks, atrocities and demolitions without any sign of its commitment for future development.

Telugu Yuvata state president Devineni Avinash has said that there is a general sense of fear and concern among the people now that Andhra Pradesh may not have good future in the hands of Jagan. The voters have given a massive mandate and landslide victory to the YCP but the ruling party leaders are misusing it at every step.

Avinash recalled that in his election campaign, Jaganmohan Reddy held out huge promise of Rajanna Rajyam but instead, he has been encouraging his party leaders and activists to attack opposition. In just one month of this rule, nearly 150 attacks were made by YCP on the TDP leaders in the state. The gang-rape of a minor girl in Ongole and the demolition of Praja Vedika built by Chandrababu Naidu are some of the examples of deteriorating situation in the state under the present regime.

Centre stops Stephen Ravindra’s deputation

0

It is already widely circulated that the next AP Intelligence Chief will be Stephen Ravindra, who is a 1999 batch IPS officer. But there is no chance any more for him to work in AP. The Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India, has not given permission for his inter-cadre deputation. Stephen is presently Inspector General of Hyderabad Range. Both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments have okayed his deputation earlier.

There are two versions being heard in this issue. Stephen has reached super time scale. The Centre would not usually allow deputation of those officers who reached this scale. However, this may be considered for reasons of life threat or such valid reasons. The other version is that the BJP leaders are not ready to extend full cooperation with the YCP government.

In the next three years, BJP wants to strengthen itself in AP. It is taking a serious view of YCP’s game plan to increase its Christian vote bank.

Stephen was known for his close relations with the YSR family. His father was also a retired police officer who had close association with YSR family. The rejection of Stephen’s deputation has come as a big shock to YCP.

Chandrababu must vacate house: YCP

0

YCP MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy’s comments triggered panic among owners of illegal buildings in Krishna river Karakatta near Vundavalli. Demolition notices have been issued to over 60 illegal structures there. This included the house where Chandrababu Naidu is staying, adjoining Praja Vedika. Alla asked Naidu to honourably vacate the residence without creating further problems.

YCP MLA said that the notice was issued to the the multi-storey nature cure hospital of Mantena Satyanarayana Raju as well. Permissions were given to these structures during the period of YSR regime. Present MLA and YSR follower Malladi Vishnu gave these permissions as the chairman of VGTUDA. The property owners are stunned at the stand taken by the Jagan Reddy government.

YSRCP leaders laud Kodali Nani for making NTR Jr as an actor

0

Gudivada MLA and fire brand leader Kodali Nani has been felicitated last evening in the town for his resounding victory and taking oath as the minister in YS Jagan’s cabinet for the first time. On this occasion, YSRCP leaders lauded Kodali Nani for his efforts and how he turned out a helping hand for the people. Perni Nani said that Kodali Nani played a crucial role and helped NTR Jr during his initial stages as an actor. They haven’t made any comments about this over these years and right after YSRCP formed the government, several leaders lauded Kodali Nani for his efforts. Woman hangs self after YSRCP-TDP clash in Andhra

0

A woman worker of opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) committed suicide after an alleged attack by a group belonging to ruling YSR Congress Party (YDRCP) in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.

The incident occurred in Rudramambapuram village in Chinnaganjam ‘mandal’ (block) of Prakasam district.

B. Padma (28) was injured in the alleged attack by YSRCP workers on her house. Upset over the incident in which an attacker slapped her, she hanged herself to death in her house.

The incident is suspected to be a sequel to a clash between the two groups in the recent elections.

The incident led to tension in the village. Senior officials visited the village to review the situation.

Parts of the state have been witnessing post-poll clashes between YSRCP and TDP workers for more than a month.

Simultaneous elections to state Assembly and Lok Sabha were held on April 11 while the results were declared on May 23.

Meanwhile, Director General of Police Gautam Sawang asked police force to be alert in view of the current post-poll clashes and upcoming local body elections.

“We still have simmering issues emerging but we anticipate them not to be organized but localized. We will very soon contain them but as long exist they will cause disturbances in society,” the police chief told the police officers during the conference of district collectors in the presence of Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday.
