The ruling YSR Congress Party has raised hopes among women and youth voters on Ammavodi and Grama Volunteer jobs in villages and towns. Now, there are rumours that Ammavodi Rs 15,000 per year will be given to only a select list of beneficiaries. The government is getting details of specific sections of families and their financial status.

Attracted by Jaganmohan Reddy promises, most voters from poor families supported YCP. But now there’s a fear that the YCP local leaders may create hurdles in getting these benefits. Jagan promised to fill 4 lakh Grama Volunteer jobs but now only 1.7 lakh youth are getting chance. There is lot of craze for these government posts among rural youth though they give only Rs 5000 per month which is seen as a good enough amount.

Jagan’s gesture of allotting key positions to his own Reddy community continues. As per the latest reports, Gangula Prabhakar Reddy is given legislative council whip position by CM Jagan. Even though Jagan balanced all the communities while forming the cabinet, while allotting other nominated positions his bias towards his own community is clearly evident.

• Chevireddi Bhaskar Reddy – TUDA chairman
• RK Roja – APIIC chairma
• Alla Ramakrishna Reddy – CRDA chairman
• Sajjala Rama Krishna Reddy – Advisor to the government on public affairs

TDP got huge anti incumbency on the government, mainly because of the argument that Chandrababu Naidu’s own community benefitted a lot during the tenure of Chandrababu Naidu and other communities not benefitted that much during his tenure. It seems, now Jagan is also doing the same mistake.

We will have to wait and see how people respond on this.

The ruling YCP leaders are stunned at the manner in which AP Industries Gowtham Reddy dealt with the special status issue during Railway Minister Peeyush Goel’s visit to Tirupati. The issue came up during private chats between the Ministers and other dignitaries. Union Minister made a special mention of it during his speech. He advised that the YCP government should study the package given to AP during the previous TDP rule and accept the same.

Peeyush strongly hinted at the Centre only giving a support equal to special status. Gowtham Reddy remained speechless at this nor could he assert the AP’s right in his speech. The YCP has been demanding status as it would provide tax concessions to boost industrial development and economic growth in the state.

But the BJP leaders are advising the YCP not to make the same mistake that was made by Chandrababu Naidu who broke relations with the Centre over special status.

YCP senior MLA Tammineni Sitaram was today elected Speaker of the AP Legislative Assembly unanimously. CM Jaganmohan Reddy said that Sitaram would conduct the House in an effective way as he had got decades of experience in legislature. Opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu recalled various capacities in which Sitaram had served before.

YCP members broke into a round of applause when Jagan pointed out that his party would not defame the House like before when they encouraged defections and made defected MLAs Ministers. The YCP MLAs tried to obstruct Chandrababu Naidu who hit back saying that the ruling party would see how the TDP would continue its agitation.

Jagan has said that he would not rush to strip the TDP of its opposition status and TDP MLAs would have to resign from their memberships before joining the YCP if they like.
