Puri Jagannadh’s latest offering iSmart Shankar took a stupendous opening at the domestic box office this Thursday. The Ram starrer action drama is having good occupancies in all Telugu states and is set to emerge as super hit of the season.
In overseas, iSmart Shankar started off on a decent note with reasonable collections. On Wednesday premiers, the film collected $51K and followed it up with $31K on Thursday. With Friday’s $41K the film surpassed the $125K in overseas. Trade circles are predicting a $200K first weekend gross for this mass entertainer. Considering Puri’s poor track record and the genre, this is a good run for iSmart Shankar in overseas.
The promising word of mouth and positive reviews have helped the film garner satisfactory numbers in the first weekend. Puri’s last five films ended as disasters at US box office. So, iSmart Shankar might come as a huge relief for buyers.
